Atom vs Cinemark Theatres
Cinemark Theatres has a slight edge due to its integrated rewards program and generally more reliable ticket purchasing, despite some app performance issues.
Atom struggles with inconsistent showtimes, payment processing failures, and poor customer support, making it unreliable for many users. Cinemark Theatres, while also experiencing bugs and slow performance, offers a valuable Movie Club membership and generally smoother ticket and concession ordering.
Head to head
Evidence note: Both apps have a high lifetime rating, but recent reviews for both show a significant number of 1-star ratings, indicating a decline in user satisfaction due to various bugs and performance issues. The free-to-download nature means users may have lower expectations for flawless performance compared to a paid app.

- [R1] Atom Check The Actual Theater For Movie Times: Will frequently just show you incorrect movie times. Was going to watch a movie at 7:00. That showtime then changed to 7:45. We checked again at 7:20 to make sure it was still showing, and the showtime disappeared. Figured the showing was cancelled, but out of curiosity I checked the AMC website. Turns out the movie actually did start at 7:00 and we missed
- [R3] Atom Not always showing open theaters: I have used this app for T-Mobile Tuesday deals. I have noticed my local theater does not always Display showtimes. I can see show times on the theater website and Fandango. In my history I was able to use the EVO -Kyle Texas location. I have tried to restart the app/phone and go on a computer. Sometimes I am not able to use my code because it is not available on
- [R8] Atom App UI: I like being able to buy tickets ahead of time using the app and if you have to cancel, the app offers you a choice between full credit or a partial refund (makes sense so you don’t abuse it). App is overall very convenient to use
- [R12] Atom Stop interrupting my music: The auto playing of trailers when I scroll the showtimes of a movie stops my music (spotify/apple music). Stop it. Stop stopping my music. It’s annoying.
- [R2] Atom So easy: This was so easy!
- [R5] Atom Great: Orders for tickets were easy!
- [R7] Atom Can’t login: I don’t go to the movies often but I assumed after buying a ticket it’d be easy to use. I spent multiple days trying to login before the film to make it easy, and it was anything but. Still couldn’t login day of the film so I skipped it. Hope it’s not a requirement and my emails enough! No point in using if I can’t even look at my tickets.
- [R4] Atom What happened to Atom: I have used Atom for years and have always loved it. Recently though they have become garbage. I try to purchase movie tickets and the transaction just sits “pending” for days until it’s finally just canceled. The generic email I get passed blame and says to try another card or something. I have multiple time, no difference. When I try to use their in-app chat it doesn’t kno
- [R9] Atom Atom app: Does not always work properly
- [R10] Atom Not working!!!!: Not working!!!
- [R6] Atom Service fee is way to high: I find the cost of service fees to be abhorrent.
- [R35] Atom I love when T-Mobile expands its rewards to include movie passes. This just made my day! ty: It is a good day to go to the movie!
- [R48] Atom Confusing and often charges me without my knowledge or permission: The whole reason why I was buying tickets on Atom was because I wanted to use the TMobile discount code. And now I’ve been charged and didn’t get to use the code. This is the entire reason why I hated this app to begin with - too confusing and hard to use. What credit card or debit card was even charged?!?! I have no idea.
- [R55] Atom i love this app!: i have TMobile and when they do the Tmobile tuesdays for movies it’s very easy to order the tickets between the 2 apps. (we all know some apps it’s hard to do that) i really love this app very easy to use and navigate through. makes it black and white.
- [R22] Atom No Customer Service: I have two passes available in my profile, which are about to expire. However the app glitches and won’t apply the passes. When going to customer service, you get a bot, which eventually says an agent will be right with you. The agent never comes, even after an hour of waiting. There is no other way to resolve or contact anybody.
- [R23] Atom Amazing customer support: I was new to the atom app and accidentally canceled my ticket that was discontinued because of my T-Mobile perks. They quickly helped and fixed my situation. Thank you
- [R25] Atom Confusing: I had booked a ticket for today and it wasn’t showing and I tried to reach out to customer success and they never responded
- [R65] Cinemark Theatres Cinemark App is Awesome: The Cinemark app is so easy to use. I strongly suggest investing in the Movie Club. The $15 a month is nothing compared to the savings. The 20% off at the register saves me $18 on all visits with my family. The theater in Beaumont is clean and well run.
- [R97] Cinemark Theatres Single greatest rewards program: In the last two years I’ve spent $200 and saved over $450!!! I couldn’t be happier with Cinemark and this program. 10/10 highly recommend
- [R32] Atom Support sucks: You can’t call, they keep asking for email when you ask for agent but agent never shows up in the chat. Like how do you talk to support!!!
- [R50] Atom App doesn’t work: The app won’t let me buy a ticket to ANY movie let alone the one I want to see. And their “customer support” is a robot who can’t connect you to a human.
- [R64] Cinemark Theatres Online fees: The online fees are insane. More than a movie ticket
- [R90] Cinemark Theatres Fee: The fee to use the app is unreasonable.
