We had a train cancelled from Berlin to Prague and the CS agent said there was nothing they could do; gave us a refund form to fill out online and book another train last minute which cost us $650. Turns out the train operator said we could’ve simple hopped on another train

First one was cancelled but we were only notified after 45 MINUTES of waiting, we got the next bus but completely disrupted plans and was 3 hours after. 2nd one was 2 days later when it was late again (driver had to take break so waited for 75 minutes). You also never know what condition the bus will be in, how cramped and tight the space will be or if the bus has a functional bathroom (they are usually locked on the last trips I’ve gone on)
