Verizon Call Filter vs Verizon Cloud
Verizon Call Filter is the better choice for its primary function of blocking spam calls, despite some inconsistencies, while Verizon Cloud struggles with fundamental functionality and reliability.
Verizon Call Filter effectively reduces spam calls for many users, though some experience issues with legitimate calls being blocked and persistent spam. Verizon Cloud, on the other hand, faces widespread problems with syncing, login, and overall reliability, making it a less dependable option for data backup.
Head to head
You are a Verizon customer looking for some relief from spam calls and are willing to tolerate occasional issues with legitimate calls being blocked or voicemails getting through R2.
You are a Verizon customer who has had positive experiences with Verizon Cloud in the past and primarily needs a simple backup solution for photos and contacts, and are not reliant on perfect reliability or advanced features .
Evidence note: Both apps are free to download, but Verizon Call Filter has a premium tier. Many negative reviews for Call Filter come from users who paid for the premium version and found it ineffective, suggesting that even the paid tier has significant issues. Verizon Cloud's negative reviews are largely about core functionality failures, regardless of any associated cost.

- [R1] Verizon Call Filter No Change: Hasn’t done anything at all, no activity after a month of use.
- [R2] Verizon Call Filter Wait for keeping out pesky calls: It is a true work of art to keep out the pesky calls. I love it.
- [R4] Verizon Call Filter Allows spam calls and blocks important contacts: I get dozens of spam calls every day. This app blocks 5% to 15% of them. It also, despite my best efforts, blocks the alarm monitoring company for the building I manage. I NEED to get those calls, so I am uninstalling this app.
- [R6] Verizon Call Filter Getting more Spam calls: The App is missing 75-80% of the spam calls now, even on the upgraded plan.
- [R3] Verizon Call Filter No voicemails: I can’t receive voicemails. You can’t even hear my recording for leaving a message. It just hangs up. This is even for my saved contacts that call. I’ve tried a lot of spam blockers over the past year. I’m not sure how effective they are or if the robocallers/spammers are just relentless. But the volume seems slightly improved over the last 3 months I’ve tried this one.
- [R16] Verizon Call Filter Doesn’t actually work: Didn’t block a single of the spam calls I received over the span of 24 hours I had this app installed on my phone, but it did block my boss (who is one of my contacts). Totally pointless and affirmatively causing problems.
- [R24] Verizon Call Filter Voicemail: I just wish if you block the call it blocks the voicemails as well as the call, all of these spam calls are filtered but then I end up with about 40 voicemails a day!
- [R10] Verizon Call Filter Buggy: This app from the moment I’ve downloaded always has a problem with retrieving the name of my account so nothing ever works. To fix this I’ve had to uninstall the app over two dozen times. Reinstall the app. Log back in. Give all the permissions that they want. For it to stop working again the very next day. This app is not good. I’m not sure where all the five star and four star reviews are
- [R12] Verizon Call Filter Works some of the time: It’s hit or miss when it picks up spam. Better than nothing.
- [R20] Verizon Call Filter Excelent: Perfect
- [R21] Verizon Call Filter Works well: Works well, however when scrolling through the “Recent” log, it locks up and it doesn’t allow to scroll up or down.
- [R22] Verizon Call Filter Not great: Functionality is not great. Does not update calls. Some sections still simply do not work. It fails to log the time and date of the calls for reporting the call to the DNC list. Only allows a few allowed callers.Verizon could do better but it is getting worde.
- [R30] Verizon Call Filter Need to wholesale block area codes: We need the ability to wholesale block area codes. I receive close to 15 spam calls a day from the following area codes, 822, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, and 888. This program does not give us the ability to wholesale Black area codes that we have identified as known spammers. That has rendered this Verizon Call Filter plus completely useless against those tactics.
- [R38] Verizon Call Filter Doesn’t work anymore: Use to work very well then all of a sudden doesn’t work anymore. Why is there a neighborhood limit for adding blocked numbers? The spam filter doesn’t block, so I have to manually add except it only allows up to 10 and you have to put the first six digits. Allow customers to block just from the first 3 digits and it would be amazing. So sick of spam calls leaving me voicemail
- [R56] Verizon Call Filter I deleted the app: The free version only allows you a very limited number of calls that it can block or allow. The filter was blocking some of my contacts from work. I ended up deleting the app and setting up my phone to only allow calls from Contacts. I figured that if it's important and it's not a contact, they will leave a message.
- [R7] Verizon Call Filter DOES NOT WORK: This call filter app does not work. I am paying for the premium and still get numerous spam calls a day. I also will still get calls from numbers I have already blocked in the app and it has blocked numbers that I have on my contact list. Just a waste of money.
- [R25] Verizon Call Filter No longer effective: I loved having this appp and didn’t mind paying for it because it would stop all spam calls . I renewed it twice and now it sucks . I get spam calls and they’re able to leave voicemails . This is beyond annoying , idk what to do now
- [R28] Verizon Call Filter Useless App and Service!!!!: I pay every month for the plus service and I still receive over 20 calls a day instead of 60 calls. I have to empty my voicemail daily, if not it will be full in 2 days. I have been with Verizon for 20 years and am thinking of switching to t-mobile. THIS is a sore issue because it’s effecting my job and personal life. Silent or not, The calls are still getting through
- [R40] Verizon Call Filter Waste of money: It does literally nothing. Both the free version and the paid version. Complete trash.
- [R63] Verizon Cloud Verizon: Slow & locks up all the time
- [R66] Verizon Cloud No longer functions: Can’t log in. Always says “can’t connect to cloud” before that it stopped backing up saying “something went wrong”
- [R70] Verizon Cloud Your app: Used to work but no it doesn’t work at all. Just get the never ending thinking ball!! What’s going on?
- [R72] Verizon Cloud Awful: Videos failed to play back all the time. Uploading takes forever or outright doesn’t work even over a gigabyte connection. The app is terrible. Time for a new development team.
- [R29] Verizon Call Filter Spam or not Spam: Two of my calls were classified as spam although they were not spam.
- [R31] Verizon Call Filter Helpful Most times: Sometimes my driver is trying to call me from Uber and can’t get through because the number isn’t recognized so they cancel the ride which had led to me being late for work.
- [R64] Verizon Cloud Don’t use Verizon cloud: Don’t waste your money on Verizon cloud. Once you switch to a different carrier they will Delete your cloud and you will Lose all pictures and contacts. Don’t waste your money and don’t lose your information. Verizon is petty.
- [R100] Verizon Cloud Messed up with my Contacts: After installing the latest version 25.6.12 of this app few days ago and synchronizing with Verizon Cloud, this app deleted about a third of my contacts and messed up with another half of them by deleting phone numbers. Never had this problem with Verizon Cloud up until this “latest and greatest” update. New app has very different look and developers obviously failed to
