Community First CU vs ComfirstCU
Community First CU (App A) is the slightly better choice due to its slightly higher lifetime rating and some users praising its comprehensive features, despite both apps suffering from significant recent issues and negative feedback regarding updates.
Both Community First CU and ComfirstCU are free banking apps that have recently undergone updates, leading to a mixed bag of user experiences. While both have high lifetime ratings, recent reviews indicate significant issues with login, functionality, and performance across both apps, making a clear recommendation difficult.
Head to head
you value a potentially wider range of features like cash flow analysis and credit score reporting, and are willing to tolerate occasional glitches and login issues R17.
you prioritize strong in-person customer service and a recently updated app that some users find easy to navigate and appreciate for its biometric login options R65.
Evidence note: Both apps are free to download, so there is no free-vs-paid asymmetry. The reviews for both apps indicate significant recent negative experiences, particularly regarding app updates, despite their high lifetime ratings. Many positive reviews for both apps focus on the credit union's service rather than the app itself.

- [R3] Community First CU Allow 2FA and Passkey’s: It would be awesome if you could setup 2FA in Raivo or something like Authy. Not only that but setup passkey support. So the account is hooked to another piece of hardware. So nobody can just login to your bank account from grabbing cookies or anything.
- [R5] Community First CU Bill Pay: Who ever was the one in charge of getting this new bill pay should immediately be fired. This new bill pay is NOT USER FRIENDLY. It involves many more steps and is a waste of time to the old version everyone liked. If this version is supposedly better why does it now have a separate helpline. Talking with employees at the credit union they seem to have the same attitude that I have. This
- [R9] Community First CU Always changing and lack iPhone support: Can’t see check images
- [R10] Community First CU Bill Pay: The bill pay feature on mobile app is horrible. You can’t see past payments or schedule
- [R1] Community First CU Drew: Tried to transfer funds from one account to another and those of us that use voice over, blind, the app does not work in voice over. This app is not visually impaired friendly.Left prior rating due to same problem, nothing has been done to improve app.
- [R6] Community First CU Convenient: I love having the convenience of the app. It is user friendly and overall great for information and internal account transfers. However, I am struggling to get the deposit function to work. Thanks!
- [R17] Community First CU User friendly: Very user friendly, transfers are easy, easy access to balance information and deposits are easy to make within the app.
- [R19] Community First CU App Review: I can’t tell you how easy it is to use the community first credit union app. Easy to read, easy to navigate, just an all-around great experience.
- [R4] Community First CU Issues: Can’t log into it the normal way, it just sits and says logging into account. I have to click on the contact us button and login through there to even see my bank account its a huge inconvenience
- [R7] Community First CU Mobile App Issue: The app for mobile was fine just until recently it’s been acting weird on me. Whenever I click on the mobile app it keep saying Access Denied and giving me some IP number and etc… when I call customer services they said on their side are fine. I’m not sure if it’s just the app or it’s my phone. I seriously deleted the app multiple times and it still says Access Denied. Hopefully
- [R24] Community First CU app won’t let me log in: had this app for a good 3-4 years and never once had an issue until it updated and went into maintenance. deleted and reinstalled a good 5 times yet it still won’t let me log into my account. annoying!!
- [R28] Community First CU Horrible App: I only use this because i’ve been banking with them since 2014. It constantly glitches, takes forever to load, and is overall just a terrible app.
- [R31] Community First CU User name/password To often Community First does NOT recognize me. Very frustrating!: To oftenTot
- [R38] Community First CU New mobile update is horrible: Have been banking with them for 7+ years, and have had great in person experiences. But the mobile app is horrible. It keeps unregistering my phone, so touch ID fails. Then entering a username and password locks the account instantly. I have had to reset my password each of the last 7-8 logins over the last 3 weeks. Strongly considering taking home loan, vehicle loa
- [R11] Community First CU Happy Customer: It’s always a pleasure to see and work with the team at Community First CU in Howard they are helpful , attentive, knowledgeable and supportive during every transaction from the easy to the complex nothing phases them. Thanks for everything you do for the community and us customers.
- [R42] Community First CU Multiple transfers: Tried many times to make multiple transfers to my sub accounts and they wouldn’t go through. Sent multiple messages to them and they continuously said there was no issue with the app. The only way I could get the transfers to go through was to do each of them separately. Fix your bugs since your update and take reports of problems more seriously. So annoying.
- [R65] ComfirstCU It’s so easy: I love community first credit union. Their tellers are always so friendly, with a smile on their face. They know their job so well that I am in and out in a very short time.
- [R18] Community First CU AVOID MOBILE DEPOSITS: I’ve never seen a bank with such awful mobile deposit policies. It takes several days to go through when so many other banks will upload the amount in your account right away. If you’re looking for banking ease and not having to go out of your way to the bank, this isn’t the bank for you
- [R36] Community First CU Mobile deposit does not work: The mobile deposit feature has always been glitchy, but recently it will come up with some random error message every time. “Please use a dark background”or “depositing this check will exceed your $4,000 daily limit”. I don’t think a $7.00 check is going to put me over my limit. I called and was told to delete and download the app again. No such luck. I work during ba
- [R40] Community First CU Mobile deposit: I’ve been banking with community first for about ten years now and never had much of an issue. I recently moved and the closest community first is an hour away but I chose to stick with them because of the mobile deposit and mobile banking. After the new software update, I am not able to deposit my checks through the online banking which really puts a huge hold on everything. I jus
- [R72] ComfirstCU Remote capture is now App Crasher: Every time I try to remote deposit check the app freezes and crashes. Very frustrating. I thought it would have been addressed by now. It’s been over three months I’ve been having this issue. I keep checking for updates to the app… …still nothing. The only reason this bank gets two stars is because they are a “Go Local” participant It would be cool if they inc
- [R63] ComfirstCU Face ID: I was previously able to us faceid to log in. It’s not working or no longer available or extremely difficult to locate. I love a lot about the credit union n a lot of the features of the app but I’m sure it could use a serious overhaul. Almost 3 months to respond to this and you offer to walk me through the setup, with no contact info and possibly another 3 month wait!? Anyways I have
- [R26] Community First CU Changes: They just redid the app and the changes aren’t for the better. Absolutely loathe the new interface, and don’t foresee myself using the app more for than checking the amount in my account when out and about. Going to have to use my computer instead of the app if I want to do my banking. :/
- [R54] Community First CU New update: If it’s not broken don’t fix it. I feel this new app update to fancy and over complicated. The old app was simple and it worked fine. Everything take twice as long to load and takes longer to navigate around the app.
- [R55] Community First CU CFCU APP ON MY IPHONE: It is so convenient to have the CFCU APP on my IPhone. It totally empowers me to check and manage all of my accounts anytime and from anywhere. It enables bill paying and transfer of funds; again, anytime and from anywhere. I rate the CFCU APP 5-STARS for convenience, ease to use, and reliability (has never let me down).
