Teladoc Health vs Zocdoc
Zocdoc is generally better for finding and booking in-person appointments with a wider selection of specialists, while Teladoc Health is better for immediate telehealth consultations, despite its significant app reliability issues.
Teladoc Health offers quick telehealth visits but is plagued by app glitches and inconsistent provider quality. Zocdoc excels at helping users find and book local in-network doctors, though it struggles with outdated insurance information and occasional booking errors.
Head to head
Evidence note: Teladoc Health's reviews are heavily skewed towards app functionality issues, which overshadow the positive experiences with providers. Zocdoc's main weakness is the inaccuracy of its insurance and provider information, which is a critical function for its service.

- [R20] Teladoc Health Quick and Fast: Scheduled a same day appt. Was seen with 15 mins. Treated and received exactly what I needed. And on my way to recovery so I can go on about my day. Thank you!!
- [R54] Teladoc Health Amazing: Traveling on vacation. Had an ear infection. Visit and prescription called in under 5 minutes. I was shocked how easy this was. Well done.
- [R58] Teladoc Health Amazing service: I just realized I could use teledoc when I happen to get a major sinus infection which is a first for me ! Truely amazing service !
- [R9] Teladoc Health Food diary: I’m still trying to figure out this app for my goals. The food diary is awful. I want to do everything right but it’s just terrible. I’ll continue to use My Fitness Pal for my food tracking.
- [R1] Teladoc Health Doesn’t work: Constant recieve “something went wrong” unable to save or update food… it’s a solid waste of time!!
- [R4] Teladoc Health Glitchy app: Made me keep redoing my history and never saved the info.
- [R6] Teladoc Health A Blank Page: The App is showing only a blank page and it’s been that way for months.
- [R12] Teladoc Health I love the App, but…: I like the potential for this to be a great App. However, almost daily the App stalls out, and I have to turn off my IPhone completely to try to restart the App. Sometimes this works and at other times it’s a non starter. I also run into problems trying to enter data to track my food intake. I get the following messages: (1) Oops, something went wrong; followed by (2) we’
- [R5] Teladoc Health Teladoc: Very professional
- [R8] Teladoc Health Easy, peasy: Professional, kind, knowledgeable. Will definitely use again.
- [R14] Teladoc Health Excellent care: This was a great telehealth visit. The provider was kind, patient, and really took the time to listen to my concerns. I never felt rushed, and everything was explained clearly. I truly felt cared for and would highly recommend this provider. Five stars!
- [R26] Teladoc Health Great doc: I can’t remember her name but she was fantastic. Nice. Down to earth. Honest.
- [R39] Teladoc Health Deceitful - scam: I was informed they’d send me a free scale, covered by insurance! Now I have a bill where it was very much not covered by insurance. This is a scam!
- [R29] Teladoc Health Too many issues: App wasn’t working, had to call and go through every detail around resetting my account. They had to like reset it to my “new” insurance which hasn’t changed in 10years. Million questions for my daughter on the app before they would see her. Could have gone to urgent care. Wasn’t always like this. Simple guys. Touch the app, it opens, Face ID, request appointment. That’s your va
- [R61] Zocdoc Pre auths and fax machines: I love the concept of this app. However as the freedoms of choosing a doc stat is amazing and so convenient I want to pinch myself. The only problem I am running into is that i am stuck paying out of pocket during a crisis...: ??!! Why you ask? The docs pre AUTH dept states that 1. We have a fax machine and it takes a long time for the pharmacy' to receive it?? I hav
- [R67] Zocdoc Medicaid: So I was initially very happy with this app had all my doctors and everything. Then MY doctors started not accepting Medicaid so I needed to switch. I have attempted to make 34 doctors appointments that all were ‘in network’ just to get them cancelled on me because they are NOT in fact IN network. Please update the system or check with providers MORE on their insurance policy.
- [R52] Teladoc Health Skin Infection: WOW!! This was super easy and super quick with super short wait time, pleasant staff and I didn’t have to wait in an emergency room or urgent care. Will definitely use this option again next time!
- [R19] Teladoc Health Wrong Prescription: Called 4 hours ago still not fixed, doctor sent over wrong prescription!!!!
- [R69] Zocdoc If you want to constantly book appointments and find out they don’t actually take your insurance: …use Zocdoc! It happens id say 70% of the time that I book appointments through Zocdoc. I’m either called by the doctors office, or like today, actually showed up to find out. Pretty fed up at this point.
- [R70] Zocdoc Docs not in network: Will say a doctor is in network but they aren’t.
- [R96] Zocdoc Bad info about in-network: Used to be great. Now the last 3 times (separate doctors) I used it the providers said in-network but when the bill comes it’s out of network. Pretty big issue when you’re billed hundreds of dollars. I’ve reported those providers and the response is “we’ll look into it 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️” Yeah, not taking my chances anymore.
- [R65] Zocdoc Phenomenal app!: What a relief it is to have an app like this available at our fingertips. With a simple picture of your health insurance, it immediately lets you know who’s in your network! Then you get a list of doctors along with patient recommendations and locations so you can easily book your own appointment! How brilliant… you don’t even need to phone the doctors! It couldn’t be simpler:)!
- [R68] Zocdoc Awesome and Easy Platform: I love using ZocDoc. Been using for at least 10 years. Easy to book reschedule and cancel appointments and I always find exactly who I’m looking for! Also I appreciate the checklist of providers I SHOULD be seeing lol.
- [R111] Zocdoc Makes it so easy: I appreciate how easy it is to find new doctors for any type of appointment you need. I just moved to a new state and needed all new doctors. ZocDoc made it so easy to book and make sure everything was in network.
- [R63] Zocdoc Irrelevant results: The app keeps giving me only psychiatrists when I look for pain management. So far this has only happened with pain management, and of course none of the results are relevant. I also can never actually find relevant doctors in my area, and instead seem to be several hours away. As someone with chronic illnesses and anxiety around doctors, the app really has not been helpful f
