TransUnion® vs Intuit Credit Karma
Intuit Credit Karma is the clear winner due to its superior reliability, more comprehensive features, and better user experience, while TransUnion® suffers from pervasive login issues and limited functionality.
Intuit Credit Karma offers a more reliable and feature-rich experience for credit monitoring and improvement, despite some user concerns about accuracy and notifications. TransUnion® is plagued by severe login problems and limited functionality, making it largely unusable for many users.
Head to head
You are an existing TransUnion customer who only needs to freeze/unfreeze credit and are willing to use the website for all other functions, as the app is largely unusable for many R5R56.
You want a free app for general credit monitoring, guidance on improving your score, and don't mind frequent notifications and advertisements . You are comfortable with the understanding that the credit scores provided may not be FICO scores and may not be perfectly accurate or up-to-date R69R75R76.
Evidence note: The evidence for TransUnion® is heavily skewed towards negative login experiences, making it difficult to assess other features comprehensively. The high number of negative reviews for TransUnion® regarding login issues (over 30 unique references) suggests a systemic problem rather than isolated incidents. Credit Karma has a much larger user base and rating count, so its negative reviews, while present, represent a smaller proportion of its overall feedback.

- [R1] TransUnion® How about some longevity?: What a waste to have to download so frequently. Minor updates as listed in the changelog, make the application completely disfunctional.
- [R3] TransUnion® Completely Broken: I give this app zero stars. It has never, ever worked for me. I can login just fine via a browser. But the app, it fails every time. Please scrap this and provide an app which works.
- [R7] TransUnion® Cannot log in: I can NEVER log in on the app. I can only log in on the website. It makes no sense!!
- [R11] TransUnion® Doesn’t work: Type in my username/password but always says incorrect even though on the computer it logs me in with those credentials
- [R5] TransUnion® This app is useless: I don’t know where some of these reviews come from, but an app does now allow you to freeze your account or makes you jump through too many hoops is useless. Also, doesn’t accept my username or password. The app doesn’t allow me to edit information. Has my annual income wrong, and states I rent my house. In addition, an only get a stupid chatbot and not a real person. TransUn
- [R18] TransUnion® Useless and missing data: No way to add missing credit information. The data is months behind, not reflecting a true credit history and not up to date. This app is just a way for them to advertise new credit cards and loans to you.
- [R69] Intuit Credit Karma Credit numbers are false.: They give u 2 credit agency’s numbers that are false. Don’t believe what u see.
- [R75] Intuit Credit Karma Good Education Tool: I’ve used CK for years it’s a good tool if you have no clue how to manage your credit. I think it’s incredibly misleading though and should have a pathway or “real score” option to check scores that actually have an impact on your life.
- [R2] TransUnion® Works great: Great app free to use!
- [R12] TransUnion® A Must-Have: This app is important to easily monitor your information and protect your credit. Simple, easy and straight-to-the-point layout. Does not pile-up on you unwanted, self-generating-income subscriptions and additional paid services, as opposed to what the Experian app does.
- [R21] TransUnion® App apparently no longer supported.: Called CS who literally advised me you can no longer login via the app.
- [R24] TransUnion® Cannot access app: In agreement with another review where app is not accessible despite being able to access the account on a browser with the same login credentials. Support for TransUnion is non existent.
- [R38] TransUnion® App is Broken: The app will not allow you to sign in. Customer service verified it is broken and did not provide a timeline for a fix. Not very helpful.
- [R13] TransUnion® if it’s TU, it’s broken: how good can the app be if it doesn’t allow something as basic as logging in? it works on web, but the app says login error every time. credit bureaus shouldn’t exist to begin with, but transunion is the worst of the three by a country mile
- [R76] Intuit Credit Karma Not Accurate: This information is never accurate and takes far too long to update. Moreover, finance persons refuse to accept CK information as valid.
- [R78] Intuit Credit Karma Incorrect information: You really need to look in to a person‘s credit before you start posting a credit score. You’re very slow on gathering information. I have stuff on my credit report that should no longer be on my credit report after eight years of being there.
- [R56] TransUnion® Deprecated app: I tried to access my TransUnion account yesterday using this app. It completely failed to allow me to authenticate. After 30 minutes of fighting with it and trying to get to a Technical Support person at Trans Union. I found out that the app is no longer supported and that I must use service.transunion.com don’t use this app.
