Expedia vs Travelocity Hotels & Flights
While both apps offer similar services, Expedia generally provides a more reliable user experience and better customer support, despite some shared issues.
Expedia and Travelocity both serve as platforms for booking travel, but recent reviews indicate Travelocity struggles significantly with app stability and customer service. Expedia, while not without its faults in customer support and pricing transparency, offers a more consistent experience for users.
Head to head
You prioritize an app that is generally functional and easy to navigate for searching and booking, even if you might encounter occasional glitches or need to be vigilant about price changes R5R17. You are willing to deal with potentially frustrating customer service if issues arise, as both apps share this weakness R4R10R12.
You are a long-time user who has had consistently positive experiences with Travelocity's pricing and booking accuracy in the past . You are comfortable using the website as a backup, given the severe app functionality issues .
Evidence note: Both apps have a significant number of negative reviews, particularly concerning customer service and app glitches. Travelocity's recent reviews show a more pronounced and consistent problem with app stability, making it difficult to use for basic functions. Many positive reviews for both apps are general statements of satisfaction without specific details.

- [R5] Expedia Best Deals: I love the ease of navigating the App.. always happy with the prices I pay.
- [R6] Expedia App just spinning while searching: I can use the app to search, I can use the website though. I use the app just for booking info and the website for searching for my travel.
- [R17] Expedia Superb: Everything is at your fingertips so easy to navigate
- [R30] Expedia Where are the options for half board?: Been using the app for about 6 years with no problem. Last weekend I was looking for a package holiday to Spain with a hotel offering half board, but the option of booking breakfast/half/full board/all inclusive was not showing for any of the hotels: this included hotels we had booked before. Can you please restore this function, or advise what I need to do?
- [R4] Expedia Customer: Horrible customer service
- [R10] Expedia Terrible service: Cannot get help when flight get cancelled
- [R12] Expedia Hotel invoice: Why is it so hard to get the hotel invoice from Expedia after the stay? Why not get an email with the invoice right after the stay? Impossible to get a live person to talk to you or even get a contact number and the virtual assistant keeps asking about a new booking on the app. Not intuitive imo.
- [R13] Expedia Difficult: Hard to obtain refund when vendor cancels event.
- [R18] Expedia Stop price gouging please :): The site itself is intuitive and easy to use but the prices and price jumps are ridiculous all companies use our data and raise prices accordingly. Your website will tell me one price and I will go to checkout and the price is vastly different
- [R22] Expedia Misled: When checking out of my hotel purchase, an offer popped up for trip insurance for $4.50. So, I opted for it. When I printed my receipt the charge was $9.00 for the insurance. Is this fraud?
- [R23] Expedia Airfares: Expedia gives the best price on reliable airlines - the site is established and reliable
- [R2] Expedia Quick, Easy & Friendly Check-In: Arrived at the hotel and was quickly greeted by staff at the check in counter. She was great! Absolutely love receiving a drink token when arriving-hope more hotels follow this trend!
- [R3] Expedia Spark vs Tru: I’ve previously stayed at the Tru by Hilton about a quarter mile away. Spark was comfortable but the facility is dated and the noisy AC unit in my room was unable to satisfactorily cool the room. The staff members working at Spark were exceptional and very customer minded.
- [R8] Expedia Good: So far so good
- [R9] Expedia Nice happy hour but musty room: The carpet in the bedroom smelled musty & damp. The bathrooms were not cleaned well, little hairs in the corner. After the room was cleaned, they never took our dirty breakfast plates, so we left them outside the door, in which they stayed for days.
- [R34] Expedia Gives you one price but always is higher in the end: The past few times I went to book it gives you one price but when you check out it always seems to go up by a lot had good luck before but now it’s just a joke
- [R16] Expedia Do not recommend: Tried to change time for pick up. Was told to contact car rental. Did that and was told to contact Expedia. So decided to handle it when we picked up the car. We were there 3 hours early and charged an extra $200. For 3 hours! Expedia is an agent for car rental and should not have passed the buck
- [R39] Expedia Map view doesn’t work: Trying to find somewhere to drive to in northern Spain but the map view doesn’t work. Kind of pointless really isn’t it?
- [R45] Expedia LAG!: The app is easy to use and great but wow the lag is insane. It freezes constantly and I have quit and start again multiple times during my search. Please fix :(
