Zocdoc vs WebMD
Zocdoc is better for booking doctor appointments, despite some issues with insurance accuracy, while WebMD is better for general health information and medication management, though it suffers from technical glitches and a less reliable symptom checker.
Zocdoc excels at simplifying doctor appointments, allowing users to find and book in-network providers easily, but struggles with insurance accuracy and occasional booking errors. WebMD is a comprehensive resource for health information, symptom checking, and medication reminders, but its symptom checker can be inaccurate and the app is prone to technical issues.
Head to head
Evidence note: Zocdoc's recent negative reviews frequently mention issues with new AI features and insurance accuracy, which contrasts with its higher lifetime rating, indicating a potential decline in user satisfaction. WebMD's negative reviews often highlight persistent technical bugs and the unreliability of its symptom checker.

- [R3] Zocdoc Irrelevant results: The app keeps giving me only psychiatrists when I look for pain management. So far this has only happened with pain management, and of course none of the results are relevant. I also can never actually find relevant doctors in my area, and instead seem to be several hours away. As someone with chronic illnesses and anxiety around doctors, the app really has not been helpful f
- [R5] Zocdoc Phenomenal app!: What a relief it is to have an app like this available at our fingertips. With a simple picture of your health insurance, it immediately lets you know who’s in your network! Then you get a list of doctors along with patient recommendations and locations so you can easily book your own appointment! How brilliant… you don’t even need to phone the doctors! It couldn’t be simpler:)!
- [R8] Zocdoc Awesome and Easy Platform: I love using ZocDoc. Been using for at least 10 years. Easy to book reschedule and cancel appointments and I always find exactly who I’m looking for! Also I appreciate the checklist of providers I SHOULD be seeing lol.
- [R19] Zocdoc Very useful and easy: This app is very easy to find highly rated doctors and to schedule appointments.
- [R61] WebMD Why am I always DYING?: So I have used this app for many years and when it tells me I’m dying or tells me my kids are dying I delete it!! But I am having some very troubling symptoms so I thought I’d try it again! I’m not dying, but it’s not recognizing the answers to the questions it asked! I’m having abdominal pain and I marked the box that says prior appendix surgery, and then when I went to go
- [R62] WebMD Very helpful go to references: I find this very helpful for quick research on my medical conditions. Seeing a dr for every little thing is unproductive.
- [R65] WebMD WebMD: An excellent medical site that explains in lay terms medical diagnoses and treatments. The explanations are geared to patients and give information that is aimed at a layperson.
- [R66] WebMD Won’t always open: I love this app and have used it for many years to track medication and check symptoms, but it is getting really frustrating. That half of the time I try to open it it won’t open. Please fix this!!
- [R68] WebMD Slow loading: I love this app. I use it every day for my reminders and notifications. The articles are also helpful ind interesting BUT when opening the app it loads slowly. Hope it can be fixed 🤞🏼
- [R69] WebMD Saved Medication information: I was really loving this app. But all of a sudden, all of my saved information for dosage for everything is now gone. I don’t understand why it’s not saving my saved information anymore.
- [R77] WebMD My aid: I have been using WebMD for several years now. I have daily medications that I take once or twice a day. And it always reminds me and has descriptions of medications, in detail, if I have questions.
- [R12] Zocdoc Ecosystem sucks: My data from website doesn’t show in app - book next appointment with the same doctor is a little tricky..
- [R17] Zocdoc Easy to book and use: Great
- [R4] Zocdoc Wrong phone number: I needed to cancel the appointment and trying to call the office and the phone number that Zocdoc provided was wrong.
- [R7] Zocdoc Medicaid: So I was initially very happy with this app had all my doctors and everything. Then MY doctors started not accepting Medicaid so I needed to switch. I have attempted to make 34 doctors appointments that all were ‘in network’ just to get them cancelled on me because they are NOT in fact IN network. Please update the system or check with providers MORE on their insurance policy.
- [R9] Zocdoc If you want to constantly book appointments and find out they don’t actually take your insurance: …use Zocdoc! It happens id say 70% of the time that I book appointments through Zocdoc. I’m either called by the doctors office, or like today, actually showed up to find out. Pretty fed up at this point.
- [R10] Zocdoc Docs not in network: Will say a doctor is in network but they aren’t.
- [R6] Zocdoc App Review: This app seems nice that it allows you to see different docs in the area. Unfortunately, it looks like doctor groups need to sign up or pay a fee to be part of the program. This could make it look like there’s less docs available and limit options for people. This is especially when u need to take time off work and could have more convenience with certain ones that could be local
- [R30] Zocdoc Unreliable app: Dentist that the app shows that’s in network with my insurance telling me they are not in network with my insurance unreliable app already
- [R100] WebMD Very Narrow Symptom Checker: If you have ONE symptom, this app may help you. If you need to include several symptoms for an illness, it gives you results for only one symptom. For example, a very young child with several concerning symptoms, rash/fever/pain, it gives you you “grass allergy,” or “injury”, or “eczema”. And the answers are common sense that you already would have ruled out.
- [R111] WebMD Poor developer upgrade: What had been a user friendly and reliable app for years has overnight become an absolute joke. Symptoms are now so vague they are of no use and tend to give you the same few possible outcomes regardless..... Then the listed Conditions given after the vague symptoms have been entered no longer load when you click for further information you just get the wheel of doom and gi
- [R112] WebMD Symptoms checker: This used to be a helpful source of information but at some point they changed the format, doing away with the clarifying questions. Half the time the results are far fetched at best. If I reply my knee hurts on the outside why give me results that specify the inner side of the knee? Why jump to blood clots without asking if there was an injury involved?
- [R78] WebMD Medication Reminders: The medication reminders will automatically move on to the future if you are an hour behind in taking the medication. You have to be really careful or you will end up “Taken” a medication that it is not time for. There is no way to undo the error. The app then becomes absolutely pointless for the medications for the remaining of the day. I’m only giving this app three stars b
- [R24] Zocdoc AI Slop Has Taken Over ZocDoc: Integrating the entire app with AI that you can't turn off has killed the app's functionality and ability to navigate the search and filters function. There is no back up human or manual search option so if the AI doesn't understand what you're looking for, oh well, no ZocDoc for you. I used to recommend this app to multiple people for its easy way to connect with th
- [R38] Zocdoc New AI search is trash and you can’t turn it off: I used to love Zoc doc to find providers on my insurance near me then did the research myself to find which I want to use. Now you are forced to use their system which they say can make mistakes. I wouldn’t mind except there is no way to go back to the old system
- [R40] Zocdoc Poor change to AI: They changed this app to AI driven search engine that is working terribly. Not showing providers that are open even when they are. Showing the wrong picture for providers. Having to repeatedly set the same distance filters every time you search.
