Sortly
Sortly is a highly effective inventory management app praised for its ease of use and organizational features, but recent, drastic price increases and persistent bugs are causing significant user dissatisfaction and cancellations.
Sortly is an inventory management application that helps users organize items with features like QR codes and photo cataloging. While many users find it intuitive and essential for their businesses or personal use, a recent trend of substantial price hikes and recurring technical issues has led to widespread frustration and users seeking alternatives.

Who it's for
Sortly is for individuals or businesses needing a visual, easy-to-use system for cataloging and tracking inventory, especially those who can leverage QR codes R6R38. It is NOT for users on a tight budget, those who need extensive features beyond basic inventory (like detailed sales reports), or those who are unwilling to risk significant price increases R7R8. It is also not recommended for personal use if the item count exceeds 100, due to the high cost of paid plans R16R28R29.
Evidence note: The recent reviews skew heavily negative due to pricing issues, which is a strong, recurring theme across many users. While positive reviews praise core functionality, they are often older or from users on grandfathered plans, or they acknowledge the high price as a drawback. The developer's notes on bug fixes are directly contradicted by ongoing user reports of bugs.

- [R4] My sortly: I was very new to inventory and sorting boxes, sortly made it easy to learn use the sortly app. 1750 units inventoried
- [R6] Absolute best system for organization and inventory: I have gone through pretty much every single app and service out there and sortly has always done everything that I needed to in terms of organizing things I have for sale to personal collections to household inventory. I love their QR feature. It works excellent. I use it to sort all my shelves. I want to say a big thank you to the developer fo
- [R26] Insanely useful: Use the app to catalog my war gaming miniatures collection.
- [R33] My review: I love this app. I have a cookie business and it helps me to see and keep up my cutters and stencils that I use constantly.
- [R38] Simple and exactly what I need: This is the first time I’ve ever written a review for an app. I operate a commercial shipping container depot and rental fleet. I looked all over for inventory software that was easy to use and didn’t have 300 extra features I don’t need getting in the way. I downloaded this app and within two hours, our intern had the entire inventory organized, with pictures!
- [R39] An absolute great product!: to use, simple yet loaded with features, anyone can learn to use this system in a day, customer service listens to feedback and updates the app with better results. Overall great product and I recommend it.
- [R42] Literally So Good I Could Not Run My Bussines Without It.: I own and operate a small scale automatic door installation and service company with a few vehicles. This app saves me time and money by letting me know if an item is on truck #1 or #2 or sitting back in the shop inventory. And it couldn’t be easier to use too. I highly recommend to anyone who needs an inventory management system. Many yea
- [R53] excellent app: this app took our business to a new level. we could never keep all of our inventory straight without it. extremely easy to use although we have encountered some bugs theyve all been resolved promptly.
- [R55] Happy so far: I am not the smartest computer guy, but I must say that Sortly is quite user friendly thus far. It’s allowing our company to do even more than we thought. When I did get stuck I went to their website, submitted my question and within 30 min I received a detailed, easy to understand email. Thus far I have no regrets using Sortly.
- [R68] Customer service: Good.
- [R135] Great App. Great Customer Service.: I absolutely love this application. I am a pro member. This is an app that will absolutely grow a small business. The customer service is outstanding (thank you Riley for all of your help) i cant say enough about the features and how it grows evetday. we love our application and will always use sortly for our business.
- [R3] This has to stop: $450 for a yearly advanced plan? That's nuts. $45 isn't ideal for a basic plan. By the way, I got emails every day from Sortly until I yelled at them and they deleted my account
- [R5] Not Recommend: For something to track inventory and nothing else, paying for subscription that jumps to over $1,000 is crazy. I’d rather redo my whole inventory (almost 2,000 items) than signup for their service again after using this app for almost two years!
- [R7] Bait and switch: Despite a tremendous investment of time to get this software dialed in for my needs, I was satisfied with the overall capabilities. Three years into the subscription they sent an email notification that the annual rate would increase by over 300% in 30 days (from $468 to $1428). Needless to say the subscription has been cancelled and I am looking for another solution.
- [R8] Unethical Price Hike After Years of Loyalty. Overnight, Sortly More Than Doubled My Subscription $: I’ve been a Sortly customer for 5, 6 years, paying $1,180 a year for their Ultra plan. Last year, without my permission, they increased my payment and moved me to a higher rate. After multiple emails, they admitted the mistake, apologized, and moved me back. Now, I’ve received a 30-day notice that m
- [R1] Buggy: I’m sorry I got on it. These are the biggest issues: It either doesn’t save or looses data. It freezes the entire iPad. Add a note, then a price before saving. I dare you. The camera assumes you’re using iPhone.
- [R9] Orientation on pictures: The orientation of pictures is not quite good always need to select on multiples shots. 3 of 5
- [R18] Good Till Last Update: Unfortunately last update made it almost unusable for tracking our kegs. If problems are not addressed we will have to develop our app to track our assets
- [R22] Random quantity jumps: This app has been pretty cool so far, but there need to be some adjustments that are implemented. There are times where I’m subtracting quantity from line items and it would double, triple, or quadruple the line items I selected to update. They should also consider showing the most recent update that’s been made on a particular line item just in case these random jumps occur
- [R16] Great until you hit 100 items then have to pay $300: $50/month or $300/year is a crazy price for a household app. Wasted time loading in 100 items and would have probably paid if it was something reasonable but I’ve never seen an app with those prices. This is only for businesses.
- [R20] Outrageous Pricing Increases: Like many others will point out, this is a great app. Feature and functionality-wise it’s a great inventory management product. The problem lies in their short-sighted subscription pricing strategy. They price based on items inventoried rather than on transactions or turnover. This means that people who use the app for home inventory (large inventory but almost no tr
- [R24] Limit for free account is 100 items, then $24 a MONTH!: An FYI, since this app wants you to create yet another account to then waste your time building your inventory, only to find that there is a cap for the free account- it is 100 items. I understand the need to make a profit , but I do not understand the lack of information regarding this requirement. I am trying to keep track of my rock and m
- [R28] Not good for personal use: I used to use this to help with moving, but it’s no longer useful for this. The limitations are too strict, and pricing is extreme for personal use.
- [R14] Scammers: Signed up for what we thought was an $800 plan. Next thing we know we are getting charged $1,400 & it won’t allow me to change to the free plan so we don’t keep getting charged. I’ve sent multiple emails, absolutely no response. Can’t find a costumer service phone number. I hardly ever write reviews, but everyone deserves to know what a scam Sortly is. Very disappointed.
- [R21] Unauthorized charge: After paying $119 monthly I was suddenly charged $5,376 today for a new enterprise subscription that I absolutely don’t need because I’m the only user. Turns out they were sending emails about this change which were marked by gmail as suspicious so I never got notifications about those drastic changes. So I was able to find them only purposely looking for them after I was char
- [R27] Two Week Free Trial Misleading: I decided to try the 2 week free trial. Within 48 hours, I realized it wasn’t the product I needed and cancelled my subscription. Sortly charged me $49.99 anyway. When I asked why and could they refund the money, they gave me the run-around of asking Apple for a refund. I don’t understand how companies like this stay in business.
- [R30] Impossible to Cancel: They made it impossible to cancel the subscription. This practice feels incredibly predatory and unacceptable. It demonstrates a lack of respect for your customers' autonomy and time. As a result, I have lost trust in Sortly's commitment to customer satisfaction and transparency.
- [R43] No sales report: Testing the app if it will works with my business. So far so good with inventory tracking. The deal breaker tho is that it does not have any sales report and breakdown of how much you sold for each location and a graph to show which branch sell the most. So after adding and subtracting inventory, you’ll use a different software to compute your sales.
- [R49] Best option for Thor that don’t have crazy needs: It’s a helpful app and works as intended. Wish the search allowed me to search items containing characters and not having to the things exactly. For instance one item I have is F125 part if it’s item number, but if I’m in a hurry don’t want to go back and type in that F. Minor but super useful. Also would be nice to have a drop-down for variations.
- [R69] Needs Dark Mode Support: It’s been too long now and the app is blinding when 99% of your other apps are using dark mode and you flip to it. Add this ASAP.
- [R90] Great app: Great app, thanks heaps. One thing that makes things quite difficult is that I can’t see to have the option to manually choose the order of items listed, it’s either alphabetical, by quantity, price, etc. if there was a way that I could sort out my own order in the way it makes sense to me, it would make it much easier to find. Please make this option possible!!
- [R19] Not signing up til I know more: Should allow to look at what the app has before you take our info from us
- [R106] To many update: I would really like this app if it didn’t every other day it’s quite annoying
- [R107] Great but constantly changing: My review would be 5 stars but the app is ever changing. At least since I download it anyway. It has changed more than a handful of times and I haven’t been using it even a year. I introduced this app to all my technicians and it constantly looks different which makes learning something harder. Stop messing with what isn’t broken!
- [R175] Mandating an account has ruined it: Until the latest couple updates, I would have given Sortly 5 stars. It’s simple, easy to use, and helps me stay organized. Upon downloading the latest update, I was greeted with a message saying ALL users now MUST have an account. Translation: give us your email address to spam. Already spent time inputting all your items and organizing them just so? You can’t
- [R36] Tags no longer available: The tabs are no longer available which you would use to put in descriptions of item on how it can be used. Bummer! Not happy!
- [R46] Outrageous subscription prices: Alright so I wanted to try this app out but as soon as I started I am greeted to their subscription plans. Because of course every app has to have them. What happened to the days where you just pay something upfront. I don’t expect things to be free but what Sortly is doing is straight up highway robbery. Sortly do you really expect anyone to pay a yearly subscripti
- [R29] Too expensive: I did like it but they have pushed to the business only model and made it too expensive for personal use where you’re not recovering your cost.
- [R44] Way too expensive: $50/mo just to unlock a few reports that you put right in the dashboard? I can’t even see the out of stock list without paying that much. For home inventory this is ludicrous.
