LastPass Password Manager
LastPass is a password manager that many users find essential for organizing passwords, but recent updates and persistent technical issues, especially with Face ID and syncing, make its value questionable for both free and paid users.
LastPass is a widely used password manager praised by many for its ability to store and organize numerous passwords securely R4R75R77. However, recent updates have introduced significant bugs, particularly with Face ID, autofill, and cross-device syncing, leading to frustration and a decline in user satisfaction R18R36R50. The lack of responsive customer support for critical issues like account recovery further diminishes its perceived value, especially for paid subscribers R12R13R34.
Free vs paid
The free version of LastPass previously allowed use across both mobile and computer devices, but a change now forces free users to choose between mobile or computer access R10R35. To use the app on multiple devices, a subscription is required R10R35. Paid users also report issues, such as autofill not working consistently and being asked to add already saved sites R50R154R459.
Value complaints
- The requirement to pay for multi-device access is seen as a 'strong-arm' tactic, pushing users to alternatives like Bitwarden.R10R35
- Paid users experience issues like autofill not working and being prompted to save already existing passwords, which is 'ludicrous' for a premium service.R50R154R459
- Some users complain about being charged for renewal without prior notification or email reminders.R443
Where it delivers
- Many users find LastPass to be an amazing and essential tool for managing and remembering numerous passwords, making their online life easier.R4R19R40R77
- It is praised for its security features and for providing peace of mind by keeping passwords safe.R26R73R75R80
- Long-time users appreciate its reliability and consistency over many years.R5R55R74R82
- The app is considered easy to use and intuitive by some, helping them organize passwords effectively.R15R16R22R85
It might be worth paying if you are a long-time user who has not experienced the recent bugs and values the cross-device access, and if you have a reliable method for account recovery outside of their customer support R55R74.
You should skip paying for LastPass if you rely on Face ID or autofill, as many recent reviews indicate these features are broken or inconsistent R18R36. Users who anticipate needing customer support for account issues should also avoid paying, as support is widely reported as unresponsive or inaccessible without logging in R12R13R34.
Evidence note: Recent reviews R1R7R8R10 indicate a significant decline in functionality and customer support, skewing negative compared to the lifetime rating. Many positive reviews are older or less specific.

- [R10] Forcing one account…: Not allowing someone to switch between computer and mobile devices as they wish without a subscription is pretty stupid. Switched to bit warden and then payed for their subscription because they didn’t strong arm me into it.
- [R35] Horrible Product: Its genuinely insane that you need to purchase a subscription to be able to use the app on multiple devices. I should not have to pay money to not have all my passwords locked on my computer. Genuinely disappointing.
- [R50] Gone downhill: I used to love this app. Never had any problems until I started paying for Premium. The latest issue is after I use LastPass to log into a website, LastPass asks me if I want to add it to LastPass. That is ludicrous!
- [R154] Sites don’t go in automatically: I was under the impression as a paying customer that my sites and passwords would be shared among my devices and that as I went to a new site and created a password that they would automatically go in to last pass. Neither happens.
- [R459] Could be better: I have the Premium version and at times, I’m disappointed that auto fill doesn't work and with similar sites it enters the wrong password
- [R443] No email: No email sent to renew, or remind me. Just took money from my account. Not too impressed!
- [R4] Awesome password manager!!: I can’t believe how amazing this app.is! I’ve always had to set and RESET my passwords too many time's before this app.
- [R19] The App Everyone Should Have…: With the rapid growth of more and more apps and website accounts constantly wanting you to change your user name and passwords, LastPass is the answer to the chaos. This is one of the most important apps I have ever owned. If something ever happened to me I have given my son complete access to be able to access any and every account I ever had. Because no one is g
- [R40] Love it: I have been using this app for a while. I absolutely love it. I think it’s great for seniors who tend to forget. Would definitely recommend ❤️❤️❤️
- [R77] Must have app: I’ve been meaning to review this app for several years. It’s the most valuable app I own as I have dozens of passwords.
- [R26] Good work: It has been safe
- [R73] Great: Last pass is secure and makes my life easier I love it!
- [R75] This app gives me piece of mind.: This app was recommended to me a few years ago by an IT consultant. He said there are a few secure password apps and in his opinion LastPass was the most secure. I took his advice. I feel very secure with LastPass security features and its user friendly format. I recommend it to all my family and friends.
- [R80] Security and convenience: Knowing that my passwords are secure yet conveniently available and remembered for my access is very important to me. Last Pass is easy to use and it remembers EVERYTHING! Best invention ever!
- [R5] Excelente: 14 años usándola. La amo
- [R55] Great app: I have used this app for 12 years. I don’t know what I would do without it. It’s reliable and secure. I highly recommend it.
- [R74] Very happy with LastPass: I've been a LP customer for many years and am happy with the features and service I've received.
- [R82] So Pleased: I have used LastPass for over 10 years and can't imagine being without the security I feel (or trying to remember all those passwords) without this vault. Simply exceptional!!!
- [R15] Great app: Easy to use love
- [R16] Easy to use.: Worth every penny
- [R22] Great: I love this it is easy
- [R85] Intuitive;-), easy to use: Have used several vaults/password generators but this one has been the easiest to figure out and work with. I actually use it!
- [R1] Done with LastPass: They still have the same old clunky, archaic interface. On iPhone specifically if you are entering information like in the notes field, and then switched to another screen to get the info you need to put in, when you come back to LastPass, it has deleted everything you have put in so far. Since this is usually the critical information, I'm trying to record so that I never lose
- [R8] Worthless now that “Add Item” no longer works: The iOS app will not allow me to add a new item to my list of passwords. This renders the service worthless. I’ve reported this and updated the app several times to no avail. I guess it’s time to move onto a better password manager app.
- [R27] Not the LastPass of old…: Used to be an easy one-stop shop for password management. Now it only works about 50% of the time in Safari and 5% in the browser. I’m lecturing my phone app to find the info and manually transcribing. Kind of defeats the purpose of the app in the first place.
- [R36] Latest update broke it: I cannot use Face ID, I’ve had to log into this with my master password several times yesterday. It was an app that worked beautifully, and now it’s an app that’s trash.
- [R12] No customer support: No one to call to reset my password and it’s a paid account and waiting to change phones but about you lose your po password
- [R13] Horrendous customer support: I can’t get logged in due to an MFA issue. I can’t get ahold of support and it’s been several days. Use 1Password and avoid these jokers!
- [R34] Horrible Support: I have purchased LastPass, have been open for years… But for some reason my password won’t let me in. When I go to their Support ticket it tells me I have to login in order to get support because they only offer support for paid memberships. Clearly I can’t do that because I can’t login. This is the most frustrating experience you can have- save time and money and use someone wit
- [R37] No support: The app is great but they have no way to contact support unless you’re logged in. Problem is I CANNOT log in. Find another app.
- [R18] Removing FaceID is a deal breaker.: This decision is such a bad decision on LastPass development that I’m abandoning LastPass and moving to a different solution even though my subscription has just renewed. It’s practically unusable for the purposes I want on a mobile device. Congratulations to whoever made this decision at LastPass. You should change your title to head of subscription-renew
- [R41] No Face ID: The password saving, that’s all good. But the constant ask of attaching BIOMETRIC DATA to this?? Unreal. That’s what is keeping my rating from being a 5/5.
- [R252] Sketchy: When using LPass on my iPhone I find that it will not always log me in using face recognition. I then have use the password. So now considering an alternative vault system.
- [R7] Password export is awful: Completely impossible to use the exported csv to migrate. Thanks for making it as difficult as possible LastPass.
