Bolt vs Yango
While both Bolt and Yango face significant challenges with driver reliability and customer support, Bolt generally offers a more consistent experience, especially for international travel, despite its flaws.
Bolt and Yango both struggle with driver cancellations, unreliable wait times, and poor customer support, leading to frustrating user experiences. However, Bolt is often praised for its affordability and convenience in many European cities, whereas Yango's issues with driver professionalism and app functionality appear more widespread.
Head to head
You are traveling in Europe or other regions where Bolt has established service and prioritize potentially lower fares over perfect reliability R8R29R32. You are willing to tolerate occasional driver cancellations and potentially slow customer support R3R6R12.
You are in a region where Yango is the primary or only ride-sharing option, and you prioritize potentially cleaner vehicles despite longer wait times and driver issues .
Evidence note: Both apps have a high volume of recent negative reviews, particularly concerning driver behavior, cancellations, and customer support, despite their high lifetime ratings. The free-to-download model for both means many users are likely experiencing friction related to service quality rather than specific paid features.

- [R1] Bolt Good app, but some functionality needs fixing in their algorithm: Bolt has good drivers and the service is nice, but the app says “2 minutes” for a ride, you order, and then it can’t find drivers for 10 minutes and then finally finds you one that is 15 minutes away. Idk why. They used to be somewhat accurate? But the estimated wait times need to be updated
- [R3] Bolt Drivers cancel too much: Drivers cancel too much. Need better incentives
- [R6] Bolt Not as reliable as UBER in USA: This app works well in Spain but not so well in Italy and France. It takes a longer time to secure a driver than in UBER USA and very often driver cancels in the middle of the trip, sometimes it takes three driver attempts to secure one ride (specially in Paris).
- [R7] Bolt The app allowed a driver to waste an hour of my time while I was waiting with my child.: I had a terrible and unsafe experience with Bolt app. I ordered a car and the driver kept saying he was coming, but he was driving in a completely different direction for almost an hour. I was waiting outside with a small child and had no real help from Bolt. This appears to be a known cancellation abuse probl
- [R8] Bolt Convenient Travel: It has made travel throughout Europe very easy and convenient and it is cheaper than Uber.
- [R14] Bolt Better than Uber: Much better than Uber, save money, more experienced drivers and luxury.
- [R20] Bolt Conviene: Fair price with nice service
- [R32] Bolt Excellent most affordable ride share: Great cars better prices!
- [R2] Bolt Best of Lisboa: The drivers and quality of the vehicles are perfect! Keep up the good work Team Bolt!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- [R50] Bolt Amazing service: I feel very happy and satisfied with the service provided by Bolt platform, I have never had any problem with them and the drivers very professional at the service
- [R53] Bolt Perfect: I love this app. Driver are friendly, fast, and the cost is much less than Uber
- [R29] Bolt Convenient: Was both necessary and convenient for our trip to Lisbon as wife recently injured her foot and was wearing a boot. The city is lovely but not made for those who have trouble walking. If you can use the Uber app you can use the Bolt app. Same basic functionality.
- [R56] Bolt Easy to use and you get multiple fare prices to choose from: Easy to use and you get multiple fare prices to choose from
- [R27] Bolt Maps aren’t accurate: I copied the exact location/ address from the map 3 times, and so did my Bolt driver, yet it isn’t showing the true location on the map, and I’m being charged 200 baht extra for this inconvenience! Please use google maps!!
- [R12] Bolt App works great. Horrible support: App is great and like others said mostly cheaper than uber. But when anything goes wrong, support totally sucks. They make 0 attempt to listen to complaint.
- [R22] Bolt No support for fraud: The primary reason for 1 star is not that I got scammed by a driver (see below), but that there is no way to get in touch with customer service through the app, and my email has not been answered after a week. Arrived at Porto airport and requested a ride. Driver told me that traffic at the airport was backed up, and if I walked 100m to the gas station it would save me 30 m
- [R35] Bolt They fixed it: After an extended back and forth with customer service, they finally did the right thing and refunded the money.
- [R13] Bolt Don’t trust them: Booked a scheduled ride to a station. Bolt cancelled last-minute with no time to recover, and no app notification. We missed our train. Support apologized but offered nothing. Don’t trust scheduled rides here for anything time-sensitive.
- [R69] Yango Yango ride: It doesn’t accept credit card. That’s not helpful for passengers
