Credit Sesame vs TransUnion®
Credit Sesame is the better choice for general credit monitoring and improvement tools, while TransUnion's app is currently plagued by severe login issues.
Credit Sesame offers a range of credit monitoring and improvement features, though some advanced options are paywalled. TransUnion's app, despite its potential for direct credit bureau access, is largely unusable due to widespread login and technical problems.
Head to head
You want a free app to monitor your credit score, track credit usage, and receive tips for improvement, and you are willing to navigate potential paywalls for advanced features or occasional app glitches R15.
You need to directly freeze or unfreeze your TransUnion credit, as this appears to be one of the few functionalities that might still work for some users, despite widespread login issues .
Evidence note: The evidence for TransUnion is heavily skewed towards negative reviews regarding login functionality, making it difficult to assess other aspects of the app's performance or features from user experiences.

- [R6] Credit Sesame Luv6500: I have had this app for a long time , I did not know you can’t file a dispute unless I upgrade to pay for this option on the app , I have Experian and kredit Carma they let me file a dispute an was not charge do not have to pay for this option , which I believe is very unfair! - [R13] Credit Sesame Was great until update: Then stopped working! Gah!!!
- [R9] Credit Sesame Free Trial isn’t a free trial at all: I like the free limited app, and would have considered purchasing the full service app after checking out the 7 day free trial, except you’re unable to actually try any of the features bc soon as you attempt to use them, you get a prompt to end your free trial and pay for the full app before you can use any of the features. Isn’t that the entire point of a fre
- [R10] Credit Sesame Why you stole my money: I will appreciate if you put my money back I canceled the app
- [R12] Credit Sesame Honesty: I only say 3 stars cause in big print you make promises by the way you advertise your services then way on another portion find just for a consumer to enjoy the perks of what was advertised in big print is complete nonsense.. if your going to offer something stick to it a lot of consumers can’t afford the services although your services help a certain group wouldn’t it still be financiall
- [R21] Credit Sesame Impossible to contact: Be aware- if you need to contact them to reset your password, you won't be able to. Save yourself the time & trouble, it's a dead-end road.
- [R54] Credit Sesame Credit Sesame:Grow Your Score: Easy To Use,Lots Of Valuable Information.
- [R55] Credit Sesame Lies about giving refunds: Initially I got the premium membership on October 3rd and paid the $20.99 , Then came here to read reviews and decided against it.. I then messaged them and asked for a refund, they then told me they refunded it and downgraded me to a free account. I waited a few days , gave them a few extra. Then it came to October 12 I realized the money hadn’t come back. I messaged
- [R41] Credit Sesame Extortion to dispute: You need to pay a membership fee to report a dispute. They are trying to extort people into paying for a membership. They will leave charges on your report that say $0 and it’s an eye sore they’re extorting people into paying to get rid of. Contact the credit company directly instead, if that fails, then use a trial to dispute the charge(s) and cancel the subscription before
- [R63] TransUnion® Completely Broken: I give this app zero stars. It has never, ever worked for me. I can login just fine via a browser. But the app, it fails every time. Please scrap this and provide an app which works.
- [R67] TransUnion® Cannot log in: I can NEVER log in on the app. I can only log in on the website. It makes no sense!!
- [R71] TransUnion® Doesn’t work: Type in my username/password but always says incorrect even though on the computer it logs me in with those credentials
- [R79] TransUnion® Never works: Cant log in, says wrong password or user id… Rather dumb since it’s the same credentials i use to log in via web… whatever..
- [R31] Credit Sesame Liars. Don’t do free trial people!: Complete advertising fraud. Went to site and it said get all 3 credit scores now, start free trial so I did. Then it said other 2 credit bureaus are not included in free trial. Couldn’t even open full report of the one they do provide. All they want is money money and more money on everything you try to view. I’m sure they make money on the people that forget to
- [R59] Credit Sesame Free trial scam: The free subscription is misleading. It doesn’t actually provide access to all three credit reports, just one. If you want to see the other two, you’re forced to skip the so-called 7-day free trial and pay immediately. The free version changes nothing and offers no real benefits. Feels like smoke and mirrors, borderline scam.”
