RxLocal vs BuzzRx
BuzzRx is the clear winner for prescription savings, offering significant discounts and a reliable user experience, while RxLocal struggles with persistent technical issues and inconsistent functionality.
BuzzRx excels as a prescription discount app, consistently providing substantial savings and a smooth user experience. RxLocal, while aiming to connect users with their pharmacies, is plagued by frequent bugs, loading issues, and unreliable notifications, making it frustrating for many users.
Head to head
you need a direct communication and refill tool for a specific local pharmacy and are willing to tolerate frequent technical issues and an inconsistent user experience R2.
Evidence note: RxLocal has a much larger number of ratings, but a significant portion of recent reviews are negative, citing persistent technical problems. BuzzRx has fewer ratings but overwhelmingly positive feedback, with negative reviews primarily focused on price comparisons being higher than competitors in specific instances, rather than app functionality.

- [R2] RxLocal Amazing: This is an amazing convenient app
- [R4] RxLocal Good start, major gaps: What’s there is good, especially being able to message the pharmacy and refill meds in the app. However the interface is clunky, and feels unfinished. The only way to see the status of refills that have already been requested is to start the refill workflow again- there’s no place to see at a glance what’s in process. Also even with notifications enabled, the app does not g
- [R6] RxLocal This app could be great: This app never sends me notifications that my meds are done. I have to open up the messages and see if they have seen filled. It would be great to get a text message or if there was any sort of notification marker on the app anyway to show that there was any sort update in status to remind me to check on them. I feel like that's one purpose of this app that's is really lac
- [R7] RxLocal Horrible / Worthless: How this app has a 4.7 star rating is beyond me! It’s worthless ! It loses my medication list over and over again. Sick of it.
- [R3] RxLocal Adequate App: This app is adequate to get the job done, but I don’t find it very user friendly. It needs more specific directions, easier ways to switch from 1 pharmacy to another to message, and the texting option gives a link to messages from the pharmacy but the link, when used, does not show the message. You must log into RxLocal & switch to the correct pharmacy by changing it to primary fir
- [R5] RxLocal Simple: First time using to refill my meds and it was simple.
- [R14] RxLocal Easy to use!!: No phone numbers to dial and menu to punch numbers into. App loads my meds and I just check the box and schedule for pick up.
- [R9] RxLocal App is great -when it works: This app is a convenient way to order refills and check on the status of prescriptions. However, the refill page hasn’t worked in a while. I had been able to order refills by messaging the pharmacy through the app, but today the app won’t load - just the “bouncing capsule”. I tried restarting my phone but the app still won’t load. Hope these issues are corrected soon.
- [R13] RxLocal Not working: At this very moment the pill that is pictured flipping as part of the opening graphic continues to spin without logging on. It has done this off and own. Very frustrating.
- [R16] RxLocal Doesn’t work: Won’t ever load. I’m tired of watching the capsule bounce around.
- [R48] RxLocal Needs work: I wish it would show a history and the prices on it.
- [R60] RxLocal Info: When it sends a message that your prescription is ready I really wish it told you how much the prescription was going to cost. That would be really helpful.
- [R61] BuzzRx Prices are higher. Use Good Rx: Every prescription I’ve searched is higher than Good Rx. I’m deleting this app and you should too
- [R62] BuzzRx Life-saving: Thank you so much for your great service and big discount
- [R22] RxLocal Horrible: This application has been absolutely impossible to use. Despite registering and reaching out to customer service multiple times, I still have not been able to connect to my pharmacy. I have no ability to access my prescription information. I will likely have to switch pharmacies as a result of the ineffectiveness of this application and the negative impact it is having on my ability to a
- [R28] RxLocal Garbage: Can not get past registration even after checking with pharmacy for accuracy of data on file.
- [R31] RxLocal Can’t even register: I tried a while back and was unable to proceed past the pharmacy selection. The only options it allows me to choose are My Pharmacy Isn’t Listed or Back. I have tried to register on the app and website, on mobile and on my computer. Tried to get “support” but it takes you to a product page boasting benefits of a product I can’t access.
- [R46] RxLocal Unusable: Cannot get registered at all no matter what and there is no help Option
- [R38] RxLocal Notifications: I don’t receive notifications the pharmacy has messaged me.
- [R54] RxLocal Notifications: The app doesn’t send me notifications. It’s hard to keep up with pick up days because the prescriptions aren’t synced or the prescriptions ate for different amounts of days (ie 28 or 30 days), nothing lines up. I rely on notifications to help me keep track of meds.
- [R79] BuzzRx Great savings!!: This app has been so helpful especially on my husbands meds that are not covered by insurance. It has cut our out of pocket price by more than half.
- [R83] BuzzRx Better discount than my health insurance!: I saved more money on my high blood pressure medication using BuzzRx than my health insurance!
- [R85] BuzzRx Better price than my insurance!: The BuzzRx card was cheaper than my $30 copay for a 90 day supply of Omeprazole! Saved over $16.. Just because you have insurance doesn’t guarantee you the best price… it just guarantees you coverage! Shop around and find out! lol. Thank you BuzzRx!
- [R91] BuzzRx Great savings and donations to charities too!: Buzzrx saved me over $50 on a script that was covered by insurance but less expensive than my deductible! And nice to know that they make donations to charities every time I fill a prescription with their card.
- [R1] RxLocal Can’t monitor Deliver: Can’t monitor delivers go to website says 404
- [R40] RxLocal Needs Major Updates !!: App does not allow patients to be able to see prescriptions being filled. App also does not allow patient’s to check on delivery times. And if a prescription shows up on your doorstep and you had no way of knowing it was even going to be delivered, they will not drop it off without a signature. And it will be sent back to the pharmacy and you’ll have to jump through hoops
- [R82] BuzzRx Amazing App: Saved me over $150 dollars when buying my pets medications! Thank you BuzzRx! 💕
- [R95] BuzzRx BuzzRx for pet meds: Awesome app! Needed a prescription filled for our rescue dog. No insurance on the dog. The prescription was quoted at almost $100 for a 1 month supply. Used the BuzRx app, I paid $46!
- [R99] BuzzRx Ted: This card has helped me on my pet meds! Thanks!
- [R112] BuzzRx Pet Medication: BuzzRx saves me over $30 a month on my dogs medication which isn’t covered by insurance.
