I was wrong on both counts. Only one child can have a username and play. The game pushes monthly purchases on the kids even after you pay for lifetime. Too bad.

You can choose when to play adds and if you don’t want adds you can pay for premium in order to support the game that way. Honestly prefer it since Duolingo went AI based.
