My Pollen Forecast vs Allergy Plus by Pollen.com
Allergy Plus by Pollen.com is the better choice for detailed and accurate pollen information, despite its significant issues with intrusive ads and recent reliability problems.
My Pollen Forecast offers basic pollen information and a diary feature, but struggles with accuracy, detailed breakdowns, and technical issues. Allergy Plus by Pollen.com provides more detailed and accurate pollen data, including specific types, but is severely hampered by frequent, malicious ads and persistent loading problems.
Head to head
you need a simple, basic pollen tracker with a limited diary feature and are willing to tolerate some ads and potential inaccuracies R8.
you prioritize detailed breakdowns of specific pollen types and a map view, and are willing to contend with frequent, malicious ads and significant loading issues .
Evidence note: Both apps are free to download, and much of the negativity for both stems from issues common in free apps, such as ads. However, Allergy Plus by Pollen.com's ad issues are particularly severe, involving malware, which is a critical flaw.

- [R1] My Pollen Forecast Useless: This was useless! I know the pollen today is quite high and the app is posting low to none! Totally wrong!
- [R2] My Pollen Forecast Accurate: Great to know what to expect allergy wise before going out
- [R4] My Pollen Forecast Doesn't seem useful for just ragweed/grass: There's no way to tell the app which kinds of allergens you care about. Makes this pretty useless for me. If you have all the allergies, otherwise seems nice.
- [R8] My Pollen Forecast Love it!!!: I like this and this helps so much with my allergies it also reminds me to take my meds thank you very much for this.
- [R3] My Pollen Forecast Notifications have basically zero info: Springtime in Florida. Everyday I get a notification “pollen count is high”. No info on the main pollen contributor, you have to open the app for that. Instead of writing “open the app”, why not list the dominant pollen type? People know you can open the app, no need for a daily reminder of that. Also: we had major rain storms the other day. And yet the ap
- [R6] My Pollen Forecast You can’t: You can’t add other cities to this application without being in that city and the search engine doesn’t seem to work at all for locating any other city to get pollen info on the city so I don’t really recommend that you download this app because it doesn’t give you many choices or options
- [R9] My Pollen Forecast Questionable: I appreciate the forecasting skills but I think their conclusion about my allergies is inaccurate because most of the days I stayed that I was ‘feeling ok’ is because I stayed home those days.
- [R10] My Pollen Forecast uses quite a bit of power: The app does a good job of tracking pollen, however it is my third most power hungry app and the top for background power usage. I’m not sure why it needs so much background power, but 12% usage in one day on an 17 pro?
- [R34] My Pollen Forecast Not so great: Was hopeful for this app with all the great reviews, but it only shows pollen count for 2 days at a time and then after a couple of days the app stopped working. Deleted it. I still can’t understand how it has so many 5 stars.
- [R37] My Pollen Forecast no forecast?: nothing shows up on the forecast tabs . is that only for those who paid?
- [R40] My Pollen Forecast Dysfunctional: Worked well for a while. It’s a very simple app with simple forecasts of allergens. The last few days the forecast is not working (and I have updated my app). Unfortunate because I was relying on this for my daily allergy forecast.
- [R19] My Pollen Forecast Terrible app: Can’t keep the app on home page & have to open my App Store each time I want to check pollen count. Doesn’t give an actual pollen count of grasses trees mold, etc. just a color code of high low moderate, etc.
- [R28] My Pollen Forecast Can’t read it: I can’t even read the blurb because it’s covered by an ad and every time I tap or try to scroll down me if I want to use my current location or pick my own and no matter how many times it’s the same thing. I’m not going to pay just to try the app. The info seems incredibly limited anyway.
- [R36] My Pollen Forecast Unable to view full pollen narrative: Couldn’t scroll down to view pollen narrative due to ads.
- [R39] My Pollen Forecast I am very disappointed in this app. I l paid for information that is available for free!!: I am very disappointed in this app. l paid for information that is available for free!!
- [R15] My Pollen Forecast Type pollen: Doesn't identify the types of pollen
- [R30] My Pollen Forecast Pollen: It doesn’t show what is high ( trees or grass) just shows high or low. I would like to know what is high.
- [R55] My Pollen Forecast The type of active pollen would be useful: Telling me that the pollen counts are low, high, etc is only a small part of the equation. Without knowing what type of pollens are present, this app isn’t worth having in my opinion. You can get better info from weather apps. I thought this would be way more informative.
- [R61] Allergy Plus by Pollen.com Scam Ad: Used Allergy Plus for a few days now, but I just got a “message” in the app that my iPhone had 8 viruses and that I should click the button to receive instructions on how to remove them before system degradation led to me losing my data (fear mongering!). I googled it and learned that it is almost certainly a scam and was sent as an ad via their ad network or something like that. Do NOT
- [R64] Allergy Plus by Pollen.com Displayed ads that are malware.: The app itself was fine, but it displayed malware ads, which means they aren’t controlling advertisers and malware ads are getting thru. Hence the poor rating. If you want a free allergy app, I’d look else where; maybe the paid version is ok, haven’t tried that.
- [R13] My Pollen Forecast Pollen and area not accurate: Conflicting information about area pollen. Very inaccurate.
- [R17] My Pollen Forecast Love this APP: So helpful and accurate!!
