Streaks
Streaks is a well-designed habit tracker praised for its simplicity and effectiveness in building routines, but recent updates and long-standing issues have led to significant frustration with widget and Apple Watch syncing, a restrictive habit limit, and an often unintuitive user interface.

While many users find it highly effective and intuitive for personal goal setting, a notable portion of recent reviews highlight persistent bugs, especially with Apple Watch and widget functionality, and a restrictive limit on the number of habits that can be tracked.

Who it's for

It is particularly suited for those who appreciate a clean aesthetic and the motivation of visual streaks R9. It is not for users who need to track a large number of habits, require advanced data analysis or note-taking features, or rely heavily on consistently working Apple Watch and widget functionality R11R33R34R39.

- [R2] I use this app religiously: This app actually helps track my habits. It’s hard to wind down for the day with all these personal goals set, and not achieved. I like how you can pause goals as life changes and it doesn’t mess with your mental that you’re not progressing. Amazing app, gifted my sister this app as well!
- [R4] Great habit tracker: I find this extremely helpful in creating long lasting good habits. Great intuitive interface.
- [R6] Streakin’: This app is slowly changing my life. Very intuitive and everything you need.
- [R9] Great motivation help: This app has motivated me to exercise more and clean something every day. The interaction and graphics are fun! Rewards me with a visual positive feeling of accomplishment every day. Was worth the money.
- [R1] Finally: Easy, fun, habit creating, never mind all the other checklists and so on, this is all you need!
- [R12] Simple, easy to use: Great basic habit tracking app if you value simplicity
- [R3] I like it: Great app for daily habit tracking. Has functionality on all Mac devices from MacBook, iPad, iphone, and apple watch.
- [R7] Keeps me motivated. Very well written.: I use this to keep track of 6 streaks and it has been a boon to motivate me to keep going to the YMCA for exercise and walking our dog etc. Works great on the iPhone and nicely ties into the Apple Watch too.
- [R31] At first I didn’t get it, but then I loved it: Okay, this app is for me. It took a second to get used to the user interface, but once I got everything set up on my phone and Mac with the widgets and shortcuts for each action, it became a very simple but very dynamic app that I find very satisfying and easy to use everyday
- [R53] My Favourite App: I’ve tried a lot of habit trackers and always come back to Streaks. Have learnt not to look elsewhere now. Easy to use, but powerful with Health integration, Shortcuts supports and all the widgets you’ll ever need. Just the best!
- [R41] Streaks App for the Win: This is such a great app. It is easy to use and the ability to customize the aesthetics of it are endless. I also like the ability to customize some of the tools, like the note section, for instance, where I’m able to record information such as what work out I accomplished, how long I stayed in the sauna, stuff like that. I especially love the pause function on certain
- [R60] Great for tracking atomic habits: If you’ve read Atomic Habits, you know that picking up and doing small tasks daily is the secret to turning them into habits. This is a great app to help with that process. It’s polished, easy to use, and can read data from e.g., the Health app so habits like walking steps daily aren’t things you need to manually complete.
- [R13] Widgets: Your latest update just broke your widgets. You can no long customize them. It shows the ability to customize them but nothing changes when you make the customizations. Also, I wish you had a large widget, showing the habits in a list form, and the days of the week that you complete the habit.
- [R23] Needlessly frustrating: The widget does not update unless you launch it. I get that widget refresh is restricted by Apple but I put Streaks side by side against StepsApp then didn’t touch either all day. StepsApp would update a few times per hour; Streaks never updated once. The entire point of a widget is to update and show information without having to launch the app. Additionally, it simply do
- [R30] good design but so buggy: was very useful and intuitive but it's so buggy lately, everything from the widget display order, focus filters, moving a task to a different page, has been an issue for me. pls fix, I like this app
- [R32] Flaky for years: Whether it’s the watch app or the widget or shortcuts something is always not quite right with Streaks. I can launch the app, mark a task complete, and go back to Home Screen without the widget updating. Shortcuts are broken - they aren’t showing all tasks or marking them complete from what I can. Overall it’s best in the most basic form only.
- [R10] Apple Watch Features Not Working: Would not sync with Apple Watch. Tried uninstalling, restarting, etc multiple times to correct but nothing worked. Ultimately I had to delete and begin the search for a new habit tracker app.
- [R21] Great app but..: Its an amazing yet simple app. My only concern is that it takes very long most of the times to update info done in the iphone app and sync it to the apple watch one. I own some other apps which update almost instantly. Please check that out! Thanks for the app very nice
- [R50] Terrible UX: They really need to review their UX. I’ve never had such a hard time navigating an app before. Additionally, "smart reminders" are quite dumb and the apple watch extension is non-functional. I can’t believe I paid for this.
- [R17] How do I make this work?: Maybe I accidentally skipped the tutorial? Was excited about the app and followed the setup instructions. But now I have no idea how to tell it I did the thing. And tapping the ? doesn’t help.
- [R34] Waste of money: This app is not intuitive. It is impossible to get statistics for an item once it has been completed.
- [R35] Good but could be better: This app seems like it would be really useful but it isn’t the most intuitive to use. The tutorial in the app doesn’t really explain the basics like how to add a task, how to sort them, etc. I just had to kind of mess with it and figure it out. I mainly got this for the Pomodoro and was wanting to figure out how to reset the timer which is only when I figured out how to
- [R37] Not intuitive, waste of money: No part of this app is worth it, I downloaded in the hopes of keep track of my weekly tasks. However it’s clunky, and awkward to use.
- [R11] Why only 24 habits?: This is a good app and I’ve been using it for a long time but I don’t understand why after years of updating the app the developers voluntarily limit the number of habits to 24. That gives competitor apps an edge that could easily be corrected. I personally ended up using more other tracking apps than this one because of this limit, even though this is a great app. Some of us
- [R33] ADD UNLIMITED STREAKS: This app is absolutely perfect. I’ve been using it for almost a decade by now probably. All I need left is UNLIMITED STREAKS. I have to use a million other worse apps because this doesn’t allow more than like 24 streaks. I have so much more I want to track and see the stats for but there’s just not enough. I can’t only pick 24. There’s more than 24 things I need this app for
- [R36] Amazing: I love it but I would want a limitless number of habits to build and more templates would be helpful.
- [R48] Loving it so far: Only had the app for little over a week, and so far I’m enjoying it. I am finding I wish I could add more than they allow, and I wish I could color code more than the six on a screen. for instance, I have eight health related habits I’m trying to track, and I would like to colorcode all eight health related habits the same color. But the overall app works great.
- [R25] Possible glitch: Been using this app for about a month and I’m fairly happy with it. Took me a while to figure out how to use it and set up different tasks. The reason for the 3 stars is because it keeps deleting tasks I’ve marked as completed. Yesterday I completed every single task, marked them all completed and they all turned yellow but this morning as I was marking a task completed the syste
- [R70] Unreliable: Randomly deletes all of your progress. Hugely annoying and no way to restore as there is no account option etc. Trying to find a way to get a refund
- [R111] Notification settings: Hi guys, I'm a dev and sometimes need to change my device time for internal testing - ever since then I seem to have encountered some problems with steaks. I often get notifications for things I have definitely done. (e.g. 10 mins mindfulness/ walk 10,000 steps - health app related triggeres) but the streak in the app longer completes, without me manually selecting it. My
- [R5] Good but give me better options: Please give me better color options or let me customize my backgrounds and icon colors. I bought this app years ago and it’s so useful but the colorways offered are so offputting. I’m just a girl who wants my streak pages to have inviting light colors. And also maybe let me add notes under my tasks since i only get 28 char for my titles
- [R39] Can’t backload streak: I’m really frustrated with the fact that you can’t download this app and start using mid-streak, I.e. you can’t customize your habit to start on day 10 instead of day one. This is useless unless you’re starting a new streak. I was looking forward to have a tracker to help visualize the work I’m putting in.
- [R40] Could use more data analysis options: I love how simple but versatile this app is. It makes it very easy to make different goals to track many different kinds of habits. The one thing I wish they would add is being able to see partially completed tasks. For example I have a task that needs to be completed 2 times a day. I wish I could see the days where I made progress but didn’t complete instead
- [R67] Too expensive for what it is: I paid 6 GPB for this app and must say I‘m massively disappointed by the quality considering the price point. The theme is barely customizable - the only wallpapers I liked color wise had emoji style watermarks. Why can’t I just take a photo as a wallpaper or choose my own colors with fades or disable the watermarks? The user experience is terrible - considering this
- [R131] Appalling value.: Appalling value. £5 for a few disc buttons?! I’ve no idea where the great reviews come from, but this is elementary programming and a heap of other apps offer similar for much less cash.
- [R134] Bugs: Overpriced with such basic functions in
- [R150] Very basic: Very few functionalities, not intuitive and expensive. I regret my purchase. I would have like the option to try before buying. I am now using Strides which is much better with a free version.
- [R91] Bug: App time to time gets stuck in logo screen when opened. Have to restart the phone for it to work. Makes it unusable.
- [R28] Simple & Effective: If you’re looking for a simple and effective habit tracking app, I’d recommend giving this one a try! I knew myself well enough to know if it was too complicated, I wouldn’t use it. Well worth the small up-front cost!
- [R29] Great app: Awesome. Happy that it’s just a one time fee
- [R44] Worth the Price: I love this app I use it every day to track my habits. Taking pills, steps, exercise, time outside, and weekly chores. It is a great tool to hold yourself accountable
- [R45] Great and simple!!!: Its straightforward at what it says it does, and delivers great with a clean and simple interface. Nothing complicated and not too many options. Great and simple. Love it!! Thanks so much to the creators for making this a OTP. Love this app sm!!!! Absolutely worth the purchase.
- [R58] Life Changing: Been using this app for more than 2 years now and it has transformed my life. I quickly filled all 24 and wished for more but when I found out there was a good reason for the limit I realised the sense in that and chose more wisely what I added. I do adjust them occasionally but mostly they are now pretty refined and help me in so many personal and professional ways throughout the w
- [R59] Best healthy habits building app: I can see from some of the less recent reviews that there have been a lot of changes recently, for example there are now 24 available habits instead of 12 like one of the reviews states. It has almost everything you could possibly need from this type of app. There are so many different presets, almost every possible thing you could want, is easy to navigate and is
- [R235] Not user friendly: Bought this app to track a streak I was already on and planning to continue. First problem, there does not appear to be a way to backdate a streak you are already on. Have to start from zero. Later, I get a notification asking me to complete and start my streak, but I have no idea how despite pressing every button imaginable. Can’t find any documentation about how it works. You
