Who it's for
Zoho Accounting App is for solo entrepreneurs and small businesses looking for an affordable, user-friendly accounting solution to manage invoices, expenses, and basic bookkeeping R2R10. It is particularly suitable for those who primarily use the web version or have simple mobile accounting needs R1R51. It is not for users who require full feature parity on a mobile app, extensive reporting on the go, or depend on highly responsive customer support R14R17R22R54.
Evidence note: The recent reviews skew negative, primarily focusing on the mobile app's limitations and customer support issues. However, the lifetime rating is very high, suggesting that the overall product (including the web version) is well-received. The current negative sentiment regarding the mobile app and support is a notable recent trajectory, potentially indicating a decline in these specific areas or a shift in user expectations for mobile functionality.

- [R1] Great app: Super user friendly and slows you to work on your phone
- [R2] Excellent app for small Businesses/Companies: I started using the Zoho Invoice app since 2020 and it has really help me as an accounting Cloud software. It come with very intuitive features and easy to use which can boost your productivity and helped me have a detailed clue of my income , expenses and I could forecast my future . Very good for solo and small business
- [R6] Simple and Complete: Love the simplicity while still having everything you need. Way better than QB. No app errors to date. Would recommend trying
- [R10] Great Small Biz Fit: Zoho Books has been a great fit for my business because it offers strong accounting tools in a system that is clean, organized, and easy to use. It makes it much simpler to track expenses, manage invoices, and keep records straight without feeling overly complicated, and it gives me the features I need without the higher cost of some other bookkeeping platforms.
- [R13] Best bookkeeping tool: I love the app. I snapshot my bills into it. I can reconcile. I am able to send invoices. All my expenses are customized as well as classifying what is taxable and not. Reporting is easy as pie.
- [R16] New to this but…: I’m trying to get ahead of taxes by actively tracking throughout the year. So far experimenting with the app….. It’s intense but I like it. I can see features that are applicable to other business types but tracking expenses, sending invoices as needed, where I draw money to pay for expenses etc etc, is pretty nicely setup. Nice job with the application.
- [R29] Zoho Bookkeeping App: Fabulous! Intuitive yet comprehensive with reports: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow. Screens for Payables, Receivables, Income, and Expenses. - Charlie Whooph Whooph LLC Writing and Consulting on Trading fir Income, Fraud Schemes Detection and Deterrence
- [R11] Price: Good service at an affordable rate
- [R24] Better than QB: I wish all my clients would switch to Zoho Books. It is easy to use and not the constant ads you get from QB. Finally, an alternative to Intuit that is actually far superior.
- [R19] Easy!: With having multiple companies to manage, I love how easy it is to switch between the companies with Zoho. With QuickBooks, I had to log out and log back into each company.
- [R4] Amazing app: Highly recommended this app makes life easier
- [R5] Very Convenient: I love it
- [R51] Floyd Chin: On the go Accounting at your fingertips. Print and view Reports easily.. You can view your balances in your Checking, Perty Cash and Undeposited Funds. Easy to add Vendors, invoices or collect payments . I do almost everything with my smartphone as I do on my PC .. Great App !!! I definitely recommend Zoho Books App..
- [R15] Not enough functionality and data: The app should automatically download data from desktop version and update but it does not. I have almost 100 projects on desktop but app only shows one
- [R17] App functions are limited.: The desktop version is pretty good. The app is reallly bad. I can’t manually categorize a lot of transactions. It doesn’t automatically learn rules. You have to teach it each one. There is no rule function in the app and it often hangs up after correctly idetifying that some transactions match a rule. But it won’t let you actually save the transaction.
- [R44] The App is not as Usable as the Desktop Version: I have been using Zoho for a year and like it pretty well. It is easy to operate for bookkeeping, but the app is missing some of the functionality and feels harder to use than it should. Most of the time the chat support is quick and solves the issue.
- [R47] The Mobile Site is better: Can’t access custom reports through app? Come on.
- [R14] DO NOT RECOMMEND: I was a paid member. Transaction from my bank stopped coming in for two months. They couldn’t figure out how to fix it and would not offer a compliment month to offset my expense because it has to be pre paid. Consumer service can fix issues, they tell you they will email you back and it can take weeks.
- [R22] Poor support: Support for the product is poor - the turn around on email support is just crazy.
- [R43] Ok software with abysmal support: Started using this software for my business about 4 months ago. Setup experience was mixed, but generally went ok. When I had a question, a request to support took about 3 days for a response, an additional week for a meaningful response and sometimes they were able to resolve my needs. When the connection to my bank accounts stopped working, all they could recomm
- [R79] Terrible: Not really that good. The people don’t get you answers quick enough if you are running a business you never know if you can get in touch with someone. Really not good enough
- [R38] Can't import bank transactions in free version.: When I try to import bank transactions in the free version, it says bank feeds are disabled. I'm a solopreneur and this is essential. Looks like this app isn't for me.
- [R114] Constant problems with bank feeds: Since January 2022, bank feeds have been messed up. Very long wait time for response and unable to fix. Blames third party for problems. Insult to injury they took their annual subscription the day of first bank feed errors.
- [R54] New Version is better but still missing feature parity: Both iOS and iPadOS apps are still not feature complete and it’s been years. I still can’t approve timesheets even though I get push notices to do so. Let’s step up and make these apps truly useful and don’t necessitate bouncing between app and web to manage your workflows.
- [R139] Limited: It’s a 5 stars on the web but 3 stars on iPhone and iPad. Can’t categorize bank activities on mobile, sort functions are not accurate, and other functions are not available. When will we be able to categorize the bank transactions?
- [R243] Important functions not working: I generally really like Zoho Books and find it helpful as a small business owner. However, this version isn't working for me because when I enter the date on the time sheet (with the new calendar function) it doesn't save the date I enter. The app doesn't let me save an entry without a date (obviously), so I can't make any time sheet entries. This is one of my core
- [R96] Doesn't show my account info: I'm logged into my company account but it looks like a new account with no customers or invoices.
- [R118] App does not work: I have a Zoho One subscription which includes Zoho Books. Whenever I attempt to login to the Zoho Books iOS application with my Zoho One credentials it generates a trial account and a different user ID. I have continued to attempt to explain this issue to their customer support and the responses I continue to receive do not help resolve the issue. The only proposed solution,
- [R250] Still can’t access multiple instances of Zoho: I run multiple companies and have been using Books since 2016. I am totally frustrated with lack of development of the mobile app. It’s absolutely fine if you only run one business on one instance of Books. However if you run multiple companies using Books on totally separate instances of Zoho, it’s impossible on the mobile app to switch between or
- [R302] ...: Couldn't get in the app as whatever I've entered as Portal name I've got an error message saying "the file to be imported is blank" then back to the entry... If I tried submitting any of the names I've tried before it says they're already taken, so it was actually submitted
- [R67] Confusing: Very limited on FREE as advertised. I would not recommend. I’ve deleted and moved on to something more “SIMPLE” friendly
- [R101] Make sure you read what's really included: You can't even use the integrated inventory system without spending atleast $70 on top of the zoho books app fees. Its one thing if they told you that you'll be paying for 2 subscriptions just to use 1 app.
- [R120] Good but pricing seems off: So I like this app. It has lots of features in the free and standard plan. But the one thing that gets me is that I have to buy professional plan in order to use payable or bills. I can’t even enter payable manually. I’m a small business with like 3 bills a month at most. It seems unreasonable to justify to upgrade to two plans higher so I can enter payable. Why not hav
- [R7] Charts: I would love to see more charts for the reports as well even online on the website as well and it would be nice if you could customize the colors of them instead of blue and orange red green maybe even a yellow for pending on the payments etc green not overdue or paid red overdue on both and yellow payment pending awaiting release would be nice on both the app and web on the main charges
- [R126] Please add more reports to the app!: Reports are very limited for the mobile app and it’s very inconvenient that some reports are only available in the full web version. I’m very mobile and need reports like invoice details. Please add invoice details and other reports to the mobile app please!
- [R171] Needs to improve: Is not practical, we need the option to click the pie chart and get a list of the items included on the piece, same with the bars, is not necessary having that picture if doesn’t provide any information
- [R45] 1: Cannot switch to Chinese · translated
- [R82] Poor language & currency support: I am American living abroad running a business in the US. When I downloaded the app it didn’t respect my device language and set up my account based on my IP address: language of where I am, not my device. It took me FOREVER to figure out how to change the language. When I finally figured that out, then I had a currency problem. When I tried to fix that it threw
- [R9] It took some practice, but I love it: With zero accounting experince or knowledge, I dove into Books for my solo service business. I stumbled around for a few months while getting familiar with the interface and processes, but now, I love using this app! Keeps me organized with clean books. Customer support is also reasonable. They always respond and encourage our questions.
- [R25] Much Better Than QuickBooks: This review is about the web app and the mobile app. We've been using Zoho Books for a few years since we switched from Quick Books. It offers much more features and customizations that we could only dream of with QB. The user interface is user-friendly and intuitive. The automation possibilities and ability to create custom functionality and workflows makes Zoho Books
- [R49] Good accounting app but few missing features: The app is making steady strides & improvement but few basic & important features are still missing in the app but available in web version: 1. No option to access charts of account and add new accounts as & when required. 2. No option to pass journal entries 3. No option to add cash, bank & credit card accounts & enter transactions related to these
- [R26] Amazing App: I love the free version xD
