eCalendar
eCalendar is a decent, more affordable alternative to pricier digital calendars, offering good organizational features for families, but it suffers from frequent syncing issues, glitches, and poor customer support.
eCalendar is a digital calendar app designed to help families organize schedules, chores, and meal plans, often used with a physical display. While many users praise its organizational capabilities and value compared to more expensive options, it is plagued by persistent syncing problems, app glitches, and unresponsive customer service.
Free vs paid
The app is free to download and use, with in-app purchases available. Reviews indicate that the core features, such as family scheduling, task management, and meal planning, are accessible without a subscription, making it a 'Skylight dupe' without the recurring fees R13R22R53. However, some users mention difficulty finding subscription options or specific paid features R262. The in-app purchases listed range from $2.99 to $29.99, but reviews do not clearly delineate what these purchases unlock, beyond general 'upgrades' .
Value complaints
- Some users feel the product, despite being a cheaper alternative, still has issues that make it not worth the money, especially when it stops working or has persistent glitches.R14R21R44R61
- There are complaints about a lack of clarity regarding subscription options or how to access premium features.R262
- One user noted that the app 'got greedy' after initially being a great, subscription-free alternative.R13
Where it delivers
- It is praised as a more affordable alternative to expensive digital calendars like Skylight, offering similar core functionalities without a subscription.R13R19R22R53
- The app is highly effective for family organization, helping coordinate schedules, manage chores, and plan meals.R1R3R8R11
- Users appreciate features like task lists, to-do lists, meal planners, and reward systems for children.R5R22R29R34
- The large format calendar and ability to sync with multiple family members' phones are considered very helpful.R1R45R54
It's worth paying if you prioritize a lower upfront cost for a digital family calendar and are willing to tolerate potential technical issues and limited customer support R19R53. It is particularly useful for families with children for chore tracking and rewards, and for individuals needing help with organization R5R22.
Evidence note: The reviews heavily focus on the app's functionality and issues when paired with a physical eCalendar device, rather than the app as a standalone product or specific in-app purchase value. Many complaints are about device-app interaction, not just the app itself.

- [R14] Calendar updated and made it un-usable.: Not very impressed. There was a failed update causing my calendar to only display the opening welcome text. Their advice was to connect it to a computer to download a new update. The device will not connect to the computer regardless of what cord I try to their next advice was to contact where we bought it because they don’t deal with replacing the item.
- [R21] Update erased my calendar: I just updated app and it erased my calendar and won't let me re add it at all keeps saying bad response. Just started the calendar after mohers day and have had so many problems with it. Have contacted support and they said they would email me and they did once with basic steps I had already taken and no follow up since. All this money paid for a calendar that doesn't d
- [R44] Good when it worked: It was good for about 20 months and then it started glitching and now screen is completely dead. Tried to reach customer service through amazon and no response.
- [R61] Awful: Less than a year old and it's dead. Zero help from customer service. You get what you pay for.
- [R262] Mr Hampson: It’s impossible to find where to subscribe to ecalendar plus!!! Nor do you chats respond
- [R13] It WAS great…: I’ll start by saying that I LOVED this app (5 STARS!) and the entire product when I first got it. It was a MUCH better alternative to the Skylight calendar. No subscriptions, tons of features, seamless integration…. I also loved how often they worked to update everything and tweak the features they already had. Until they got greedy. One of the features that I love about this app
- [R19] It’s OK: The physical calendar was a good deal, compared to the much more expensive options. The expensive ones are way overpriced. Anyway, this one does the job and keeps chores and rewards organized. Our only issue is the app and calendar aren’t that seamless. There’s connection issues, lagging, and communication issues. Sometimes chores will randomly uncheck or check themselves. The physica
- [R22] Love Love Love: I bought a digital calendar on Amazon that uses this app. What I love most is I can use all the features I desire without paying like most do with those other digital calendars. This has also been helpful with making sure my son gets all his task done for rewards. I recommend this app 100%.
- [R53] Great organizational tool!: I always wanted a Skylight but couldn’t see spending the excessive amount of money on it. This eCalendar is great and it’s affordable! It keeps track of our appointments. We are able to assign tasks for my kids and reward them. It’s super easy to use!! Well worth it.
- [R1] I’m in love! 🥰: I got this as a gift, it is something I just love I have it live linked to my kids phones, husband’s & mine so helpful. Only complaint is it lags a little bit when loading. But I am so in love with the efficiency of how it can sync everything and have a visual one inside our kitchen! So glad to have this!!
- [R3] Family User: Makes Life Easier
- [R8] Way helpful: With a busy family and everyone on the go and my daughter needing list to be able to remember and get things done eCalendar is perfect for us. We love it.
- [R11] Awesome: Has really helped coordinate schedules!
- [R5] Saved my life: I have ADHD and have this ECalendar has helped me with that I love putting down my to do list and checking then off one by one helps me see that I am accomplished my goals thanks ❤️
- [R29] Task Master: I am a retired 84 year old woman and have never kept a to do schedule. The Task section keeps me organized, motivated and feeling productive and accomplished. Every time I mark a task off it’s like giving me a pat on the back telling myself “well done”. I’m still working on putting appointments, special dates etc on calendar. This part is harder because I’m working on how to use it.
- [R34] Has changed our home: This calendar was a Mothers Day gift. It has changed everything! Kids are getting chores done now without me having to hound them. I now don’t have to constantly remind my husband about our family schedule that revolves around sports etc. also we just started using meal planner to host a huge family event in lieu of a spreadsheet to plan to have the entire family here for
- [R45] Not enough memory: The things I love: No subscription! I enjoy the large format calendar that you can easily see what each individual is doing. I enjoy the list, to-do, meal planner and can run it from my phone. I do not have a use for the reward system but it is a great feature for those with younger kids. The things I do not love and truly the deal breaker for me. Very little storage/memory. 16
- [R54] Really love the app and my digital calendar: I love my digital calendar so much and having this app makes adding thing to my calendar easier! It updates everything quickly and I’m able to stay a lot more organized than I’ve ever had!
- [R12] Do not recommend, u’ll regret: Cannot sync with other cal, and customer service agent does not respond. Don’t recommend getting the device and app.
- [R55] Does not work with Outlook: I have had this calendar for over a year now and have been trying to get it to sync with my Outlook calendar And I cannot get it to work. I don’t know why it won’t work. I’ve done everything it says to do. Very frustrating.
- [R76] Well pleased and delighted: I purchased this app as a companion to work with my IOS devices/ iCloud Calendar and a new Dragon Touch Digital calendar purchased for our home. The app works seamlessly with my iCloud calendars and syncs in both directions with the Dragon Touch. I must admit at 78 years old I had a little trouble getting things to sync in both directions. But Customer Service/Tech
- [R259] Lovely but doesn’t sync from all calendars: This would be 5 stars if it synced from any calendar, not just a few. We use TimeTree as we use android and iPhones as a family and we have to now input manually. Unless someone can show me how to then I’ll change the star rating. Otherwise compared to the skylight calendar which looks the same and does most of the same things this is a much more afforda
- [R17] Lots of glitches: I love seeing so many of my photos in the slideshow, but there are a ton of glitches with this calendar. Seems like every time there is an update, it will start to get stuck in this loop of trying to restart. I have to do a factory reset on it at least once a week. After a couple weeks of use, where Live Photos were playing just fine it all of a sudden started turning the live im
- [R18] was working now isn’t: have had this over a year now but a glitch started where adding things to a list would duplicate everything. now i can’t add anything. i tried from my app and it doesn’t see my calendar. i tried to reconnect but getting a bad error and try later. at this point the calendar is useless. i made sure there are no updates pending for app or device and turn off and back on.. pleas
- [R20] I need help: My app is all of a sudden saying “bad response please try again later” no matter what I do with it. I have updated it and deleted it and added it back. I tried to do support buts it’s all in Chinese. I need help in English please
- [R23] Horrible: No support. Bad experience. App doesn’t match the YouTube videos.
- [R127] App needs an update: App works great but I didn’t give 5 stars because this is primarily used for families and you and your spouse can’t be logged into the app at the same time so it’s very frustrating having to log in every time you want to use it. Like if I’m at the grocery store and my wife wants to add something to the list it signs me out and you don’t always have good service in a grocery st
- [R173] Software issues: The calendar works fine as for the software very glitchy sometimes get stuck. I wish it had the ability to be logged in on two separate devices, but once you log into one device and you try to open the application and another device, it freezes and then you get a white screen don’t recommend to buy
- [R207] Sign in: I love that it keeps the family together. But the bad thing is several people can’t be login at once. It will automatically login you out If someone logins to look at the calendar. You have to put in the email and password every time. I don’t like that.
