Seven
Seven by Perigee AB is a highly-rated workout app that delivers effective, quick routines, but its aggressive paywall and high subscription cost make the paid version questionable for many users.
Seven offers quick, challenging 7-minute workouts that users find effective for fitness and weight loss, with many appreciating its customizability and motivation features R1R4R5R12. However, the app severely limits free content after an initial trial, forcing users to pay for variety and most features, leading to numerous complaints about its high subscription price and deceptive free trial practices R30R37R70R98.
Free vs paid
The free version of Seven offers a limited selection of workouts, typically starting with a varied two-week trial, then restricting users to a single, repetitive 7-minute workout R70R185R195R215. Some users report access to a few beginner, intermediate, and advanced workouts for 'Lose Weight, Get Fit, and Get Strong' goals, and a custom mode with limited exercise options R242. Free users can also access a live workout at the top of every hour and unlock a new exercise every two months by exercising daily R31. The paid '7Club' subscription unlocks all workouts, exercises, and continuous access to varied plans and features R31R242R441.

It's worth paying if you are committed to a daily 7-minute workout routine, appreciate the app's structure and motivation, and find the variety of paid workouts suitable for your needs R3R5R12R17. It is also for those who need a quick, hassle-free routine that fits into a busy schedule and helps maintain consistency R5R12.
You should skip paying if you are on a limited budget, expect extensive free content, or are unwilling to commit to a subscription model R30R37R70R149. Also skip if you require highly customized workouts for specific injuries or dislike repetitive exercises, as the app's customization for free users is limited and paid content can still be repetitive R7R9R833.
Evidence note: The reviews provide a strong balance of positive and negative feedback, particularly regarding the monetization strategy. Many long-term users praise the app's effectiveness and consistency, while newer and free users frequently express frustration with the paywall and pricing. There are also several reports of technical issues and poor customer support.

- [R30] Not the best: The overall concept is good, but I used it for almost six months, and was on a diet and saw little to no progress. Although the rewards made it fun, it still seemed ineffective. Also, the subscription is expensive for what you’re getting from it.
- [R37] Average: Okay for an app. Only one week free. Not worth paying for.
- [R149] Too expensive: They need a lower tier with no bells or whistles
- [R583] Too expensive: You’re product is to expensive compared to the previous price and the upgrade isn’t worth the price. Please consider downgrading the price again so we can all enjoy your app.
- [R70] 👿: There is only one workout you can use. If you want to do other workout plans be prepared to pay
- [R143] New download: I will probably update it when I reach a month see how the app is working . I love the interface and ease to use the app. So far two workouts have been great. I wish there was not a paywall and a less invasive pop up if I don’t buy the premium. overall it is a good app! Try it out
- [R147] Good app w/constant annoyances: I like the app and system but updates include more and more annoyances that I can’t change. There needs to be a never option not just a not now for constantly begging me to pay money by subscribing. I’m sick of you and this entire world’s SUBSCRIBE SUBSCRIBE!! mentality just STOP!!!!! I got the app and I want to use it without nuisance. I buy things once and I use t
- [R157] Only 7 day free trial: Boo. It doesn’t say there’s any sort of free option after that. Deleted.
- [R98] No real free trial: The app itself is good. I stick to the free stuff. I was considering getting a subscription plan, but when I tried to sign up for a free trial, the app would not let me start a free trial without also signing up for a subscription and asking for credit card information. That is in poor taste. If it’s a free trial it should not require me to sign up for a subscription too. It’s
- [R409] Fraud: I singed up for a free trial but was immediately charged £49.99 for a year subscription which I do not need. Simple fraud frankly and I want my money back
- [R578] Did not give me a refund: I did not purchase this app. I ended the trial before it ended. It says that I will get a refund of $70.00 if I cancel the trial. I canceled the trial on the second day of the 7 day trial. This app takes my $70.00 and doesn’t refund the money like the instructions have documented. Have I misunderstood the instructions?
- [R795] Confused: I do not want a subscription. I thought it was a free app, and have not given permission to pay $$$, however I believe that after a 7 day trial, they will take money out. I want to cancel now and there is no provision to. Please help me.
- [R355] Purchases removed: Made in app purchases a few years ago, tried to look again and they have all been locked behind the new subscription model. Might be acceptable for some, but no for me
- [R579] Developer Took Money: I originally paid for a number of workouts in the first form of this app. They have changed to a subscription format and I cannot access the workouts that I originally purchased from the company. There is no way to contact the developer to either request a refund or have my purchases restored. I would not trust this developer.
- [R1] Awesome: I’m chubby and i started this 2 days ago and Im going to meet my goal before school start but this is helping me a lot thanks
- [R4] 7: A great workout app I don’t know what I could do without it I usually work out Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday and these few weeks I’ve had some abs and now I’m focused back on my diet and I eat salad every day and now I used to have 600 pounds but now that I downloaded Seven I have 50 pounds thanks a lot you seven you’ve really out done yourself
- [R5] It works as long as you do: 6 months. 15 lbs lost, muscle tone is returning. I’m pushing 50 and needed a routine to fit inside a big family and work life. It’s worth the money, just put in the reps. You can do it. Be patient and consistent.
- [R10] An awesome way to workout: What a great idea! This app has been helping me increase my cardio training and stick with it! Cannot recommend enough!
- [R3] The best: I’m very been using this app for 10 years, and it consistently delivers everything I need for target body parts, making monthly plans, doing live sessions, and generally staying fit. I recommend this app to anyone asks me what I do to stay fit. I do miss the voice 7 used to have many years (Australian lady if I recall), but otherwise this app is a winner!
- [R6] Great app!: Love the exercises, I do it every morning. The gym is far from my house and I ended up cancelling my membership because of it, but this is easy to incorporate into my routine. The only thing I don’t love about it is when you open the app it gives you your plan and doesn’t seem to take into account your abilities. For example, I took the fitness test and ended up in the top 10% for low
- [R15] Go team!: Sometimes the voices are cheesy, but the workouts are easy to follow, and I find them really easy to stick with at home. Would definitely recommend.
- [R16] Highly recommend!: This app is a great workout app. I can do different workouts depending on my style and different instructors
- [R12] Quick Hassle Free Workouts: No excuses Seven minute daily commitment with plenty of options for growth in strength A little consistency and daily discipline will go a long way with this App Thank you 7
- [R17] 10 for 7!: Challenging, encouraging, quick and habit-forming. I recommend this to my patients and challenge them. It’s such a meaningful 7-min.
- [R25] Make It A Goal: I think that any type of workout plan you have will work, it will get you the results but you have to make it a plan and make it a goal and really work out. This app is easy enough to make it 7 minutes long and it gives you from beginning to end what kind of workout you’re looking for, it gives an example of what you’re supposed to do and a list of 12 workouts for 7 minutes . If yo
- [R8] Hooray: This is enough that actually makes me work out and is free. None of them are extremely hard if you choose your skill level and you can even make them s so they push you more
- [R31] Solid App for Paid and Free users: I’ve been using Seven for over two years now and it has been awesome. For a “premium” app it treats free users quite nicely. They offer you the first week of a goal for free. Once you create an account, you can access a live workout at the top of every hour. Additionally you can invite friends to unlock a new exercise. Every two months you exercise daily you will
- [R41] Really good app: I like how they show you how to do different moves and how it’s set up to be fun! I do wish that there were more free stuff. For example the 2 week workout that changes u a lot can you make it so you have to unlock it through challenges? It’s okay if not. I still love this app!!!!
- [R242] pretty good but.. 💪🏼🙁: the only thing for free is Lose Weight, Get Fit, and Get Strong with all beginner, intermediate and advanced workouts (it is a once a day 7 min workout), then there's a Custom Mode which you get to customize your own routine with only 12 options (there are probably hundreds more but u gotta pay...) lastly you have a Quick Starter based on ur preferences. everything else you
- [R185] Only one free workout: Got rid of all their free workouts and only have one available
- [R7] Not inclusive to injuries: I have other past injuries that make it so I can rarely do pushups. The current workouts are 70% pushup variations. This app only has selections such as back, shoulders and knees that keep your workouts accustomed to your body. It is not inclusive enough. Has good workouts without that factor.
- [R9] Custom Exercises: I have back issues and added that as a filter to modify my exercises. At least one or two exercises each day on the plan cause me back pain or I can’t do them and have to modify to keep from hurting my back. I’d love something to allow me to remove those exercises from my routine. Instead, I created my own custom workouts and that’s my workaround. I also hate the up and down… on
- [R833] Need to be able to blacklist certain exercises: There needs to be a setting where you can blacklist certain exercises so that they don’t appear in your program. People with injuries can’t use this app properly until this is fixed. Plus people hate certain exercises, like planks or burpees. On that note, what’s with all the planks? I didn’t mind them before but they are in every single session,
- [R215] The first two weeks are great: The first two weeks give you varied, tailored workouts - after those two weeks are up, if you don’t want to pay for membership there is a single workout set to do, day after day. A decent workout but it gets boring fast.
- [R349] good: it’s good but after a week it’s the same workout everyday, to stop this and get it back to normal you have to pay!! surprise surprise nothings free these days, not even good exercise .
- [R441] Bit disappointing: Really enjoyed the app in the first week. Had different exercises for each day that worked on different things and mixed it up so it wasn’t boring but after the 1st week I noticed that the workouts are all exactly the same each day. Unless I pay to subscribe which I don’t fancy doing when a gym membership in my area is the same price for unlimited use. You can create custom wor
- [R570] Repetitive workouts: Great platform as a whole, but the exercises are extremely repetitive. Quite frustrated since I bought a 3 month membership, and find myself stuck with the same repetitions. Advice: Don’t buy any of the app subscriptions and stick to YouTube HIITs. Cheaper, better and more intensive.
