Who it's for
This app was historically for Floridians and others needing reliable, easy-to-use hurricane tracking and weather radar R61R70R76. However, recent issues make it currently unsuitable for anyone relying on accurate, up-to-date weather information or a functional radar R10.
Evidence note: The recent reviews skew heavily negative, with many users expressing disappointment over a decline in quality after years of satisfaction. The developer's notes about 'performance improvement and bug fixes' are directly contradicted by widespread reports of loading issues, crashes, and broken features. The lifetime rating of 4.83 is a stark contrast to the recent sentiment, indicating a significant negative trajectory.

- [R61] Low Tech But Best Tracker: I don’t remember when or why I downloaded Max Tracker, but as a Floridian, it is the app I go back to again and again for quick, preside information and tracking. It gives me what I want to know, and I recommend it to all of my friends and family. I have family as far north as NYC using Max Tracker. Highly recommend!
- [R70] Absolutely love this app!: It is the easiest and fastest way to find out trajectory of any storm! I have shared with all my friends and family here in South Florida
- [R76] My go to weather app: I found this app when I was looking for something all together I wanted to track hurricanes as well and didn’t want 2 apps that had weather and hurricanes and found this app that does both I was hooked thanks a lot 🙂
- [R81] Max Tracker-On A Wing and A Prayer: I have used Max Tracker for years. Living in Miami, hurricanes are a constant annual fear cycle. What will this year bring? When it comes right down to it, a patch in the Atlantic potentially spelling disaster or skittering off to annoy someone else, I go to Max Tracker the bromide of the heart and mind to quell my fears and provide an intelligent basis for p
- [R16] Tracker.: Very easy to use. Good info. Soo thankful to be able to see what is on the way. Pleas keep up the wonderful work. Thank You.
- [R28] Pure and Simple: Weather demystified.

- [R78] Love Max: My favorite weather app during hurricane season! Easy and concise!

- [R40] Weather report when it matters: I love this app! Always accurate and on time!
- [R77] Max Tracker: Always on point and up to date very helpful on Hurricanes Love the App And Miss MAX😍
- [R47] Used to love but now won’t open: I used to love this app, but now it just says “loading”
- [R51] Loading Issue: The app is not loading had no issues in the past
- [R26] Not working: Empty screens. Not loading.
- [R32] Not working: I used in the past and work great, but now never work, you open the app and nothing happen.
- [R3] Radar issues: The radar in many years of previous versions was the past few hours ending with live radar. Now it attempts to show future radar.
- [R6] Radar freezes and crashes: The latest update has a glitch with the radar. In addition to forecasting many hours into the future the app freezes and then crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app with the same results. Please check and fix this issue. Same problem on 2 iPads and 2 different model iPhones.
- [R10] Bring back the pre-update!: The updated radar is TERRIBLE! I can hear the thunder and nothing is showing! Having to switch back to local radar app. This has been my go to for YEARS. But this update that causes the radar to show the “future” on loop is just not accurate. So sad!
- [R12] Poor Performance: I have loved this app until the latest update. The precipitation radar sticks and most importantly it no longer indication my location. I have reset my phone and made sure my settings are correct and still no blue dot. I will anxiously await the next update before i go to a different weather app.
- [R79] Bad New Map But Good Tracker: I would have given this app 5 ⭐️s rating, I’ve used it for the last 8 years and it’s helped so much. BUT the new updated map is so awful. It’s really bad and I can’t see the storms well. It’s like a 3d round globe that’s so off center and mostly the middle of the ocean. It’s really hard to track hurricanes/storms this way. It just doesn’t make any sense and just make
- [R82] Please Return to Flat Map View: The last update for this app now has a globe view instead of the flat map. This is extremely difficult to see correctly. Please go back to the old view. I have emailed the developer twice and never got a reply. I see from other reviews that there are others who find this difficult to see also.
- [R85] Can you go back to the old map?: Really love this app, but it seems the update has changed the Tropics watch part to round globe. I just feel like it was easier on the eyes when it was a regular map.
- [R86] Curved globe view not good: This has been my go to hurricane tracker for a long time and always been good. Unfortunately, the new curved globe view doesn’t work. Makes it difficult to see exact location of potential storms. Please go back to old flat view, much better.
- [R11] Lost location: I just downloaded the latest version and now the radar no longer shows my location. I reviewed all my settings and they are correct - I even tried turning my iPhone off and then on - my location is clearly not working with the new version. BYW, find my phone is working so that’s not the issue - in my opinion, the upgrade is incomplete.
- [R228] Location: After a down load cannot change current location???????
- [R123] Max Tracker: A ton of value using this app during Hurricane Ian. A little under whelmed today when I realized that underneath the settings link, Max Tracker was displaying news… OLD news. The top listed story was titled "The tropics are heating up - at least two storms are expected to be named in the next week". I was floored, so I opened the story to discover that the date was August 25, 2021.
- [R124] WHY???: Why is Max Tracker showing three potential development areas on the app that are from August 2021? No sense at all!
- [R2] Gulf of America? I see you kissed the ring!: After using and loving this app for the last 12 to 15 years I just noticed you kissed the orange ring. It's "Gulf of Mexico" in the rest of the free and civilized world. Deleting and rating one star!
- [R7] Gulf: You changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico? Deleting.
- [R1] No full service while traveling: Why can I not use Max Tracker while I’m in Europe ?
- [R21] Will not load in US Virgin Islands: I am extremely grateful for any/all info but am only able to “load” radar and storm tracker. Why is that? Invaluable though this is the opening page and Satellite are also very important.
- [R121] New changes/ format: Hate the new changes you made. Prior to them the app’s home was the radar page and I could see immediately what was going on in my location. Now it opens up to storm tracker and I have scroll down to find radar, click on that page which takes me to another page and then click again on the radar button. 2 step process- don’t like it, not convenient. Looking for another app.
- [R122] Changes: Not loving the recent change to the app. I relied on the radar as it has always been the best. Now I have to choose “more” and then pick radar - EVERYTIME! It’s basically been changed to a hurricane only app. Thumbs down.
- [R134] Forecast Cone Graphic -Horrible: The forecast cone graphic is pretty basic & can only be used for general information. This is too bad it can’t be brought up to a useful & useable graphic quality. It really takes away from the app usefulness.
- [R136] Graphics Need to be Improved: Lookin at hurricane Ian and the tracking is not clear enough. This needs to be improved so you can accurately see the track and the models.
- [R137] Could Be Better: This app is moderately helpful but could be so much better. In contrast to other tracker maps, this app does not zoom in on the areas of the path of the storm. Therefor it gets difficult to locate the direct path, and the icons tend to look jumbled and cluttered after a while. It was helpful in the beginning stages of tracking Ian but became futile once things really became seriou
- [R138] Needs lots of improvements: There are a lot of other apps for weather that do everything this app does but better. In tracking Ian in September 2022, you tapped the maps to zoom. The low resolution map goes to the center of the screen with many of the tags overlapping so you cannot read a lot of the information. A note at the bottom says “Rotate to view full screen”. Nothing happens when you rotat
- [R133] No longer works for blind people: This application used to work very well on my iPhone with my voiceover screen reader. However, I discovered when I needed it this week with hurricane Ian, it would crash every time I tried to use it with voiceover. I think there is not enough memory within the app to use the screen reader. It seems to work without it even though I cannot see what is on the screen.
