Amazon Music
Amazon Music offers a vast music library and offline listening, but recent user reviews highlight significant issues with app performance, bugs, and a frustrating shift towards paid subscriptions for basic features, despite many users already paying for Prime or Unlimited R1R12R16R21.
Amazon Music provides a large selection of music and the ability to listen offline, which is appreciated by some users. However, recent feedback indicates widespread problems with the app being slow, buggy, and frequently crashing. Many users are also frustrated by limitations on basic features like specific song playback and shuffle, pushing them towards additional paid subscriptions even when they are already Prime or Unlimited members.

Who it's for
Amazon Music is for users who prioritize a vast music library and offline listening, especially if they are willing to pay for the Unlimited subscription to avoid limitations and bugs R4R8R53R83. It is not for users who expect full functionality with a Prime membership, are frustrated by frequent app crashes and slow performance, or dislike repetitive shuffle algorithms R1R12R21R35.
Evidence note: The recent reviews skew heavily negative, with many 1-star ratings. While some positive reviews exist, they often praise the music selection or the Unlimited tier, not the general app experience for free or Prime users. The developer's notes about bug fixes are directly contradicted by numerous recent reports of crashes and performance issues.

- [R4] Amazon Music customer review.: Great music selection but I would only recommend this app if you are getting the paid for version as opposed to free as the in free version you can’t go backwards in a song to restart it and the adds are very frequent.
- [R38] My review: They have such a good variety of songs!
- [R83] The Best Music App: It’s absolutely amazing to find every song that I have ever searched.
- [R87] Honest short review: Amazon Music is good and bad. For example, sometime it just doesn’t recognize that I am listening to new music and just doesn’t put more music like that on recommended parts. But to complement and figure out a way for Amazon Music to be 3 stars I like how there is a diverse section of catalog for a variety of different people. Also this came from a person that has an Unlimite
- [R53] Offline mode is awesome!: I can listen to offline music especially when I’m hiking in remote area where satellites only work!
- [R7] great app!!: this app is amazing for listening to any genre of music and is extremely grateful for kids with a built in explicit mode that can be turned on or off! definitely a must have!
- [R23] The account settings LIE!!!: Ok so my dad set up an account and it was set up to have no bad words and i was havin the time of ma life until my sister looked up on there “the 67 song” and it had the a word in it so 4 stars because of the music -1 star because the no bad or inappropriate stuff on your account and by the way i a kid
- [R8] Love my Amazon Music Unlimited!!: Have had them since around 2012 and have stayed with them as the pricing and ease of use has kept up to oar over the years. Use the family plan and love the different profiles you can set onnthe app so I can hand my phone to my daughter and ket her do her stuff and swirch back to my profile quickly when she's done
- [R13] No station shuffling: Wish we could shuffle stations. The app keeps shutting down randomly during music play and have to restart it. Other than that, it’s ok.
- [R26] Poor: Not the best streaming service. It has locked ourselves in. It crashes often and if you want to skip too (max 6 I think) many songs, it will then try and make you upgrade.
- [R35] Get Spotify instead: This app is absolutely trash. It’s slow, crashes all the time, and is unresponsive when trying to click buttons. I keep hoping it will improve hit until then, 1 star
- [R40] Crashes frecuently: This app crashes infinite times in a day. Almost impossible to hear Music decently.
- [R5] Slow app, pathetic recommendations: The app takes 10s to open. First music app which I have seen which takes more than 1s. The music recommendation is really bad. Amazon should pay me for using the app. It’s just bad.
- [R36] Loading in: Why is it so slow to load the app. I haven’t downloaded any songs but it takes forever
- [R43] Slow ui: Do you are the slowest thing it has good options of music, but I can’t scroll down into the bottom of my playlist without my phone freezing
- [R44] Add dislike button to Apple CarPlay: Please, I hate not having it as an option. Needs to dislike and skip songs! After recent update, app takes a long time to open.
- [R1] An absolute joke: This app said disgrace to all music apps. I guess that if you rent your music then you’re fine. But you must always have a connection. Because your music otherwise she’s not going to play. I don’t read my music. I buy my music. I have over 6000 songs in my collection and they are mine to keep. So I don’t have to worry about paying and if I don’t pay, my music goes bye-bye or I ha
- [R16] Money Grab: At one time it was my goto music app. It was a minor inconvenience when songs went from free to behind a paywall, but that was alright. Plenty of others available. Now, I can’t download onto my phone for playing free of data usage. My playlists are automatically shuffled, sometimes with other music and no ability to start on the song I want. And now I can only skip a song 2 or3 times.
- [R20] Dislike Subscription Ads: I remember when I would ask Alexa to play a specific song by a specific artist, and it would play the song. At times, it’s telling me that in order to be able to do so I need to have the monthly subscription.
- [R19] Shuffle not Great: I like a shuffle option but I hear the same songs all the time. I wish the shuffle was better.
- [R72] Repeats the same songs: The only issue I have with this app is it repeats the SAME 3-4 songs in any given playlist without fail. Frustrating. As a Prime member I appreciate no commercials but a true shuffle is in DIRE need.
- [R85] Repeats Last Song: When you play an album it repeats the last song over and over. It makes me feel like I have a Monkey in my soul.
- [R92] Good but cons: There’s a lot of weird wonky things that can happen with this app as someone who’s been using this app since 2018. Skipping songs randomly, audio glitching, offline things and there’s more but the quality is great same with the music library. Biggest thing is to PLEASE FIX THE SHUFFLE!!! I listen to the same playlists that I make over and over again, and I realized the shuffle doesn
- [R74] Have to subscribe to listen to purchased music: Every time I try to play a song I own the app will play some random other song or tell me that’s a feature I have to subscribe to Unlimited for. Amazon should refund me my purchases then. Buyer beware: Don’t buy music from Amazon they won’t let you listen to it.
- [R100] Figure out shuffle and download: It is almost impossible to play downloaded music to play offline. Even with a premium subscription. If you can get it to work, you cannot shuffle playlists if playing offline. Why would that not be a function?!? It is even harder to get Amazon Music to work off of my Apple Watch. It commonly just spins and will not play. Downloaded songs seem to have a lower qualit
- [R138] It’s kinda annoys me…: So I’m just trying to find my fav song on my playlist just to find out…it wasn’t there! (and I was also offline😭) we alr payed for the unlimited and my songs keep on disappearing and I always have to add them back and some of them say they aren’t available and became grey so I had to add the songs in my playlist a second time so it realizes that the song still exists. You ca
- [R149] Decent app but songs keep disappearing: I keep dealing with songs disappearing from playlists or them being greyed out a day after release, it says it’s because I need to pay more (according to google) but I have zero clue what else it could be because my father is paying for the highest subscription
- [R180] could be better.: there are issues with playing downloaded songs in your self-made playlists… a while ago, a lot of my songs in my playlists got taken out without my doing? one playlist went from having 100+ songs and now it has ~50 songs, all without my doing!!! amazon needs to fix that!!!
- [R12] Two-Song Wonder: It’s great if you want to pay a monthly fee to listen to 2, 3 if you’re lucky, songs before it just quits. Then, after trying again a few times, you give up and start using other streaming platforms. Then, you realize you’re paying Amazon a monthly fee to listen to Spotify or Apple Music. Soon, I wonder when, not if, we start being charged for browsing, every click, and for every
- [R45] Cuts Out: Often just stops or cuts out
- [R50] Good but a little bit of bugs for me: It’s great and all but I get some bugs sometimes that’ll just make a weird sound and skip a song midway through. And for a while it would play around 20 seconds of a different song while still playing the original. Those bugs made it pretty annoying, but besides that the app is great.
- [R62] Songs stop at 20 sec: It’s a good streaming service but every time they update it (wich is almost every other day) your songs will play to 20 sec then skip to the next until you update the app.
- [R28] The worst of all the music services: After trying Spotify, Amazon, and Apple I can say with ease that Amazon is by far the worst. It found new ways to be frustrating every time I opened it. I’m almost impressed with how unfriendly the UI can be when trying to switch between albums or artists. It’s almost like it knows what you want, and then purposely doesn’t do that. Stay away from this mess!
- [R39] Boo. AI.: Mainly AI features that are invasive. Not to mention, it’s also laggy as hell.
- [R80] Update: App Freezes Up Now: I pay for the Unlimited Plan (premium). This app keeps freezing up. It glitches and is just impossible to figure out how to do the simplest things on other music apps. I want to like it and use it exclusively so bad but it just does not get the attention it deserves. I do not believe any of the employees that read these comments actually use this app. It Is Still imposs
- [R2] I’m done with Amazon!!: So I just got a new phone and new number and I can’t access my account without uploading my government issued ID!?!? I have my correct email address and recovery code but since my old phone number is associated with my Amazon account I cannot access it even with the correct info, passwords, etc! So I will now give my $30 per month to someone anyone else other than Amazon!
- [R98] Please make it simpler: My iPad and phone are under the same account yet I signed in on my phone it’s a completely different account and I don’t have unlimited on my iPad and there’s no add device that I can find on either please fix that
- [R21] Subscription: I already pay for Amazon prime which is supposed to give me ad free music and an app that I love which up until today has changed. You now have to pay for a second plan on Amazon Music alone to get the music played that you want which is beyond frustrating. I’m not going to pay for something and not get the benefits that I’m supposed too. I’m sick in tired of companies we use all the
- [R31] Disappointed: The system keeps feeding the same songs into my feed. I have selected 80’s rock and the system will put the same tunes from the 70’s. I believe it would be better for me to purchase songs from Apple!
- [R73] What good is something that does the opposite of what you want?: I hate this greedy app. Unless you pay for the full version, it doesn’t play the song you click on. You can’t use this app when driving, cos you get stuck listening to some garbage song other than the one you’ve selected.
- [R109] I have Prime and this is disappointing app: I pay for Prime monthly and I like how it includes Amazon Music with no ads. But I’m most frustrated with the constant “upgrade to unlimited” pop ups. Limited to shuffle song only! And the app is poorly designed compared to Spotify!
