Magzter
Magzter offers a vast selection of magazines at a reasonable price, but its value is significantly undermined by persistent technical issues and an extremely difficult cancellation process.
Magzter provides access to thousands of magazines globally, often at a good price for those with diverse interests. However, users frequently report issues with accessing paid content, app crashes, poor image quality, and an intentionally difficult subscription cancellation process.
Free vs paid
Reviews indicate that Magzter offers a free trial period R13, after which users must pay to view magazines R13. The paid 'Gold' or 'Unlimited' subscription grants access to a large library of magazines, with some users mentioning a price of $99 for a year or three years R24. Some users report that individual magazine subscriptions are offered, but these often redirect to the 'all access' pass, making it difficult to subscribe to just one title R5.
Value complaints
- Many users report extreme difficulty cancelling subscriptions, with some being charged after attempting to cancel or after deleting the app.R2R4R8R11
- Numerous users experience issues accessing content they have paid for, including subscriptions not being recognized, magazines not opening, or paid content requiring repurchase.R3R9R12R14
- Some users feel that the app's advertising of thousands of magazines is misleading, as many are outdated, from other countries, or require additional payment despite an 'all access' subscription.R5R16R23R38
- The app is criticized for poor user interface and experience, including difficulty searching, navigating, and using interactive features.R10R41R54R58
- Users report censorship of certain content, particularly related to LGBT and men's magazines.R6R22R48R132
Where it delivers
- Many users praise the wide selection of magazines, including international titles, and find the subscription to be a good value compared to buying individual print copies.R1R24R32R34
- Some users report positive experiences with customer support, particularly when resolving access issues after purchases or app updates.R1R12R13R53
- The app is appreciated for its convenience, allowing users to read magazines digitally on various devices and access back issues.R46R47R49R66
Evidence note: The lifetime rating of 4.51 is significantly higher than what recent reviews suggest, with a strong negative skew in recent feedback regarding cancellation difficulties and access issues. Many positive reviews focus on the breadth of content without addressing the technical or subscription management problems.

- [R2] Cancellation: I have no clue how well this all is in general. And if you are into reading magazines it could be alright. But holy cow is it impossible to cancel. Whatever you do don’t buy the gold version of this stupid app. Took me 2 hours to cancel and I’m a (fairly) tech savvy 18 year old. I can’t imagine trying to cancel if I was the age of people who still read magazines. Just go buy the real
- [R4] Minimal usefulness and impossible to cancel subscription (by design).: Didn’t utilize much. I ordered through another site so I cancelled through them. People I signed up like it though.
- [R8] Buyer Beware!: I tried to unsubscribe to their service but there is no unsubscribe feature. They do not respond to emails when trying to unsubscribe. DO NOT subscribe to this service!
- [R11] Cancellation: It’s very difficult to cancel subscription if you subscribe directly from them.
- [R3] Complicated subscription process: Subscribed to access magazines, but was unable to get past the subscription gate despite a successful Apple Pay charge. The activation link Magzter sends redirects to their homepage rather than granting access making the subscription effectively unusable. Requesting a refund is equally frustrating. There is no refund option on their website. The only recourse is t
- [R9] Possible SCAM: I just purchased a one time only monthly magazine. Received an email to read it digitally. YET I CANNOT ACCESS IT DESPITE MY ACCOUNT SHOWING THE PAID INVOICE. Sent an email for help. If the problem is resolved, will update this review. Otherwise, I am standing with this written testimony! Thank You!
- [R12] New IOS = Bad App: With the new iOS update, none of my magazines now open on my new iPhone 17 pro max. I click on a magazine and the app just closes. Better get a fix soon! Update: the app is working again but it took far too long and too many emails back and forth to make it happen. Back to reading I go!
- [R14] Always crashing: Every time I try to read a magazine in the app it closes the app when I click on the magazine. No problems on the desktop site.
- [R5] All I want..: Am I missing something? If I am, then I apologize for the tone of this review, but it seems my only option to to subscribe to all access to 10,000 magazine titles. I don’t want 10,000 magazines. All I want is ONE subscription to ONE magazine. Is there somewhere on the app where I can just subscribe to one magazine?
- [R16] Scam: In men’s interests 95% of magazines is scam with a lot of advertisements inside.
- [R23] No English: It’s a joy to spend time on this site trying to find one to read in English and never being able to read one blessed thing
- [R38] Worthless to me: I am an American but every single magazine and newspaper only caters to everywhere but the USA. It’s kind of useless to me. Can’t find any United States newspapers at all. I don’t really care what’s happening in other countries, give me news about my country. No wonder the price per month/year is so low, there is nothing here for some people. And by some people I mean Americans. N
- [R10] Menu: Menu could be more user friendly
- [R41] App problems: The app does not work like it used to. I can not enjoy the interactive features anymore like hyperlinks. This is what makes the digital edition enjoyable. I can not crop and share my favorite pages. When I click share it shows a server error ⚠️ warning. The update didn't fix this.
- [R54] Not reading or search friendly at all: The look and feel is very clunky and I struggled to search for the magazines and articles I wanted to read. During the trial period finding it so hard to unsubscribe, it’s just not been designed in a user friendly way.
- [R58] Format is impossible to read on iPhone: It’s almost impossible to read on an iPhone. You constantly have to move the article around on your phone. Magazines that I thought I would be able to read don’t exist. It looks like I’ll go back to Apple News.
- [R6] Shouldn’t carry porn: One star
- [R22] Good but censor lgbt not straight adult stuff: Hello. I decided to give it another year. At least for the entrepreneur and inc magazines. Still hate editors ⚠️‼️⭐️ over content aimed at LGBT community
- [R48] Censored: No where in your write up do you mention that the men’s magazines are censored out. (Playboy censored why?)
- [R132] Depends on what you want to see.: Some mags are original some are modified to meet certain social standards and content is removed. More of an apple issue than a magzter issue.
- [R1] Incredible customer support!!: Working with customer support was an overwhelmingly positive experience! (I was having an issue getting full access after purchasing in the Apple Store.) Most of all this is the best application for magazines in my opinion. SO many choices, all for one price!
- [R24] Pay for three years: It is worth the cost ... it actually is. I have many interests and what Magzter offers is not just magazines from the US but all over the world. You pay even if for one year and get access to hundreds of new and old issues. I have been a subscriber maybe since 2019…
- [R32] Top Magazines: This app is very good with up to date magazines from top brands to top celebrities.
- [R34] Magzter: I really the opportunity to have all of these magazines and news articles available.. we have shared with 3 family members so far. What a fantastic deal. Thank you Magzter.
- [R13] Amazing app and support: I did buy one year subscription and when I change my phone to iPhone 17 Pro with a new iOS 26 the app was crashing, and it keeps shutting down. I did talk to them a few times. And they were able to fix it after me sending them a few crash report. Thank you very much for the support. I really appreciate it For all those people who talks about paying the app is very clearly
- [R53] Had issues: I had issues that magzter resolved quickly, so i am changing my review to 4 stars.
- [R46] Reading at Your Fingertips: Enjoy reading my favorite magazines on my app. Many choices all in one place. Wide range of magazines. Always most recent magazines. So much easier than carrying paper magazines.
- [R47] Many mags many topics: I have enjoyed this service. Works on mobile and pc. Lots of magazines. More limited for newspapers but costs half of Apple News.
- [R49] The best alternative to paper magazine subscriptions!: I subscribed to Magzter a while back and it’s the best way to get the magazines you want to read without all the clutter. You can search your interest and read whatever you want! I love this app. I wish I had found it sooner.
- [R66] Best for less: Provides hundreds of Magazines at your finger tips. User friendly and convenient.
- [R18] Impossible to cancel: Very shady company. Although the “Developer Response” to other people noting the same issue makes it seem simple to cancel, the approach Magzter recommends for people who sign up via website leads to a “404 page not available” error message. Also, I’ve now sent three emails to support, as directed on their website, and have yet to receive a response. Avoid at all costs.
- [R101] Very few U S mags! Bait & Switch!: I purchased an annual subscription because of all of the U.S. magazines that they advertised that they have. Sure, they have them but you have to spend additional $ to get each individual mag. This is bait and switch in it’s purest form. You have to click on each individual title to find out that they only have Cosmo from India or Better Homes from Australia. I w
- [R133] Not USA titles: Most of the popular English language magazines are the Canadian, English or Indian version not US. And you can’t filter on county only language. Also you can’t tell until you open it up and start reading. It’s pretty annoying especially if you end up liking a product or recipe. There are really only about 10 decent US titles not the thousands they claim to have. They should just be
