TeamSnap
TeamSnap is a useful organizational tool for sports teams, especially for coaches and managers, but recent updates have led to an overwhelming number of intrusive ads, significant bugs, and frustrating chat limitations for all users, including those who pay for ad-free versions.
TeamSnap is widely appreciated by coaches and managers for its organizational features, including scheduling and communication. However, recent user reviews highlight a significant decline in user experience due to an excessive number of intrusive ads, persistent bugs, and limitations in core features like chat and roster management.

Who it's for
TeamSnap is for coaches and managers who need a centralized tool for scheduling, roster management, and team communication. It is less suitable for parents or players who are frustrated by constant ads, subscription issues, and limited chat functionality. Users who require an ad-free experience without paying a premium, or those who need robust chat and roster editing features, should look elsewhere.
Evidence note: The recent reviews skew heavily negative, primarily due to the overwhelming ad experience and persistent bugs. While there are positive reviews praising its core organizational functionality, the volume and intensity of negative feedback regarding ads and bugs suggest these are widespread and recent issues. The lifetime rating of 4.76 suggests a much more positive past experience, indicating a significant negative trajectory in recent user satisfaction.

- [R2] Great Tool: TeamSnap has been a very efficient organizing tool for me as the manager of a Crew team.
- [R11] TeamSnap is awesome!: I LOVE TeamSnap! I use it for my travel soccer team, and this always lets me know when I have any games, practices, or anything else. It even lets you know where an activity is taking place, which is awesome. There is even a group chat if you need to let your team know about something. Get this if you want to be posted on team updates!
- [R31] Sport: Very helpful for high school sports!
- [R45] User friendly software: Very use to use and the app is very well organized.
- [R7] To many ads: Great app for team updates but every click is to clear out another ad
- [R46] Valuable Tool for Youth Sports: TeamSnap provides timely information from coaches to players and parents. Recently, the field we were playing on was different from the address in TeamSnap Schedule. The Chat feature allowed parents to communicate with each other to reroute parents heading to the other site down the road.
- [R87] Great organizational tool: I use Teamsnap for all my teams. It’s great for communication and organization
- [R34] Good App: Worked well and easy to use
- [R95] Love it: Easy & convenient to use
- [R99] Decent: Free version is decent. Easy to navigate around the ads. Lots of features that the sports club doesn’t appear to use. Probably the most annoying thing is that the app icon does not support the dark customization, despite an otherwise great UI.
- [R3] Ads are lame: Useful app, but the ads are very annoying and at times make the app unuseable.
- [R4] Ads ads ads: The ads on the app are brutal and constantly get in the way
- [R8] Sold out: This app sucks now. They are now about ads and bogging you down. No longer user friendly. Full of bugs. Full of app crashes. App support doesn’t even work.
- [R15] Subscription fraud: Your ads are very intrusive. I have the ad-free plan and your app “conveniently” forgets about my subscription constantly. So, I get loads of ads until I tell it to restore my subscription. Feels like you’re committing fraud!
- [R36] More advertising than team communication: The advertising on teamsnap has been getting progressively worse. There are now ads that don’t even offer a close button and you have to exit the app and come back in. This isn’t just for the free version of the app as our team has paid for it. There is no reason for the amount of interruption that is happening with this app.
- [R49] Paid “Ad-Free”….?: Paid Ad-free… still has ads.
- [R218] Ads galore: I paid an annual subscription for the team I’m managing but the other team my son is part of still has ads. So I have one team with no ads, and another team with ads. That’s a bit ridiculous, because you want me to pay another $2 per month to go ads free when I already spent $80 for the year. The app is good, but would’ve been better when acknowledging paid patrons. These subscriptio
- [R28] Make this easier: We love TeamSnap, however, it is a real pain when you have to create a new chat every time a new person is added to the team. Or create a new chat when the team changes at all. You should be able to add remove members to an existing chat.
- [R29] Love the app!! Would great to fix the chat features: I love using this app for my sons’ travel team…the only thing is the chat feature. Whenever we need to add a player’s family member an entirely new chat has to be created, which is really frustrating. We have considered as a group going to a different platform entirely just because of how frustrating this lack of adding or subtracting people in
- [R43] Literally the worst app: This app has so many glitches that it is a pain to use. Messages don’t come through all the time. I find myself having to logout or uninstall and reinstall or power off and on my phone to get messages. Things don’t update like they should. I’ve tried all the fixes. I will never use this for another team. Many of the people on our team have the same issues and there doesn’t
- [R81] Favorite app for team sports: Only reason I can’t give a 5 is because you can’t add and remove people from a group chat. You have to create an entire new chat if you made a mistake!
- [R22] Frustrating: This app locks up all the the time. It is slow. Kicks me off CarPlay. I dread anytime I get a notification because it is just going to lock everything up.
- [R23] What happened?!: App used to work great. No my game scores are resetting, screen goes blank, clock resets to 00:00… it’s garbage
- [R1] Couldn’t sign into account: I downloaded the app for my team and it said I didn’t have a account even thought I signed up like 10 times 1 star would not recommend
- [R5] Fake 7 day free trial: I signed up for this as a requirement for a group and wanted to change plans after the 7 day trial. But apparently you have to quit the 7 day trial at 5 or 6 days and now I’m stuck with a year of an app I don’t want.
- [R19] Don’t use: Do not use this app, customer service is horrible and even after deleting and asking them to remove all information you will still get charged. Then they do not want to refund your account even with pictures of the charges they charged you after deleting your account. Do not use this app, it is a mess and you’ll have to change all your bank information just to keep from being charged ev
- [R39] Doesn’t work: This app is horrible. It is not user friendly. Why does it keep asking for payment when I don’t need to pay. Why is there freaking commercials when all I want is to get the info for my kids schedule only for the schedule to be completely wrong. My does it make my kid the parent instead of me and why won’t it let me fix it!
- [R44] View by number: Would be great, in the roster view, to see the number with the name (instead of the position). Ex: Joe Smith - 26.
- [R102] Needs more up-to-date tech: There should definitely be an option to edit messages once they are sent in group chats or private messages. As I coach I am always thinking of so much stuff and juggling everything so I make mistakes then have to send multiple messages to correct my original text. There should also be a section to see coaches availability for practices. I hate that they have to text
- [R103] Show assignments in Schedule view: Please make it easier to SEE MY ASSIGNMENTS without clicking into each event. Schedule view (list of events) would be a natural place to see them or how about an Assignments tab with a list?
- [R111] Roster: Please add players jersey number to roster. Thanks
- [R186] Can't ignore hidden team chat: If you are on multiple teams, and disable one of them (so it no longer shows up to select), you still get a number by the app showing how's many messages (from the hidden team) you haven't read. And done it's hidden/disabled, there's no way to view them and reset the count. So now the count is completely useless
- [R307] Notifications don’t work: I have reset my notifications so many times but I never get them. I can see them on the app icon but when I go to the app it doesn’t show where the notification is! So I have to search everywhere to find the newest change. Very annoying.
- [R12] “Mediocre” Free w/Adds: I agree with most positive reviews from Team Owners, Organizer’s, and especially Coaches. But as a parent, or guardian of a player or team member, it comes with multiple frustrations. Switching between profiles, (changes randomly) and adding multiple teams or merging other teams to the same profile is problematic. But with all free apps, the adds are my biggest complaint.
- [R16] Miserable: Just a miserable experience. If you enjoy watching an add or clicking on a link when you tap on a X to close an add then this is the app for you. Your other option is to pay a monthly fee. I understand that the app needs to generate revenue to keep running but the user experience suffers.
- [R107] chat flaws: You guys have to have a feature where you can add someone to a chat. Making a whole new chat just to add one person is ridiculous
