Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel offers an authentic and visually impressive digital TCG experience, but its current meta, long turn times, and perceived pay-to-win elements are frustrating many players, particularly newcomers.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is praised for its faithful adaptation of the card game, detailed animations, and cross-platform play. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with excessively long player turns, a highly unbalanced meta dominated by specific powerful decks, and a steep learning curve for new players.

Who it's for
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is for long-time fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG who are familiar with modern summoning mechanics (Synchro, Xyz, Link) and enjoy complex, strategic card games R11R17R20. It's also suitable for players looking for a free-to-play digital card game that is not perceived as 'pay-to-win' R35R56R83. It is not for newcomers to Yu-Gi-Oh! or casual players who prefer simpler, faster duels, as they will likely be overwhelmed and frustrated by the meta and long turn times R1R40R113.
Evidence note: The recent reviews skew heavily negative, which contrasts with the high lifetime rating. The negative sentiment is consistently focused on game balance, turn length, and new player experience, with multiple reviews from different regions echoing these points. Developer notes mention minor UI/animation updates, which do not address the core gameplay balance or turn length issues raised by recent reviews.

- [R7] Love this game: This is an awesome game it’s really cool and I like the detail and special effects in the game which the developers really went the extra mile on there are 2 thing that I think you could improve on #1 playing this game offline #2 being able to save the progress on the game so you can download this game on another device which links to the original device which all your progress. A
- [R17] Best Yu-Gi-Oh Game/Simulator: THE funniest games of yugioh on this app helps me play better in real life and if you don’t play real life It’s still really fun and I recommend watching people play it like on YouTube while playing People to watch Head to Head Battles , Team Aps ,TeamSamuraiX1 and syykuno
- [R20] A Great Simulator: This simulator is amazing! I have always loved YUGIOH and I think this game has it all. I’m too young to participate in tournaments, so this simulator gives me a feel of what a tournament would be about. Even if you can’t build a good deck, the structure decks are really reliable. I recommend Spiral Spear Strike, House Of Dragonmaid and Cybernetic Successor. All of these are goo
- [R27] 10/10: Probably one of if not the best yugioh game aside from the card game
- [R35] Not pay to win: Fun game and perfectly playable without any money
- [R56] Controversial game: A lot of people don’t like this game because they just play with the original deck and rules which isn’t what this is about so the game shouldn’t be down rated because if that, it’s amazing fun completely free and not pay to win which is a nice change from all other mobile games out there, keep it up Konami me and my friends love what you do 👍✌️
- [R83] Great for returnees: I used to play the TCG but haven’t played in a few years but I downloaded this game and it is soooo much better than Duel Links (something I tried to get into but was too P2W) and I haven’t paid a penny. I think this is my first non-troll review because it is genuinely a great game.
- [R125] Too long: Positives: No pay-to-play, great layout, fun for casual or serious play. Negatives: Matches can drag if opponents chain endless moves. I once sat two minutes unable to counter while my opponent played 10 cards for a one-shot. It kills the fun when you can’t even make a countermove. I have do 6 chain moves before to defeat my opponent, however, there’s no fun in that. They should put a l
- [R8] Great game: It teaches you how to be a professional duelist
- [R11] Excellent game for strategy card pros.: I used to play the ‘original’ cd game on my laptop around 20 to 25 years ago after I got hooked to the storyline of the anime. I liked that game, it was playable, if a little predictable. But this is something different. Ranking is only upwards, so players rarely play against similar standards, only against better opponents. Solo get to be only playable
- [R16] So good: PLAYSTATION LINK AND SO MUCH FUN
- [R65] Long but great cross console: I really love it i first got it on my switch and then via youtube found out it is on mobile
- [R3] Full of sweats: Cool game if you wanna play with some weirdos that can recite every card in the game and can predict what card you have better than Pegasus, like i said games okay just be belter if people didn't make new account to beat the new comers, take a lifetime to make a move and actually do something!! Honestly in ranked i feel like for the first min if someone surrenders both players loos
- [R6] Great and terrible game: The game is everything you want from a yugioh game… until you start climbing through the ranks. Then 99/100 opponents will either negate everything you do or they will chain summon for about 20 minutes and summon their strongest monster turn 1 or 2, destroying anything you may have setup leaving you helpless. That would be ok if it happened or they built to it but the amou
- [R9] timer: the game is more then perfect just that the timer for a duel is way way to long i uninstall it just because of this reason
- [R12] Feedback: The game is good and nice however during plays some player can play their cards more than 300 sec without consuming their time? Time should be renewed or added at the end of each turn not during the play. It’s annoying how other player turns eats up to 5 mins to finish laying their cards without consuming their 300 sec because you keep adding time during plays. Anyways up to you it’s you
- [R1] Wouldn’t bother with it: New to the game but not new to TCG If a game can be over as early as turn one, then it isn’t a game as no game has been played
- [R5] Kashtira is too broken unban red-eyes dark dragon: Kashtira is too broken and the xyz monster shang ri la hasn’t even been banned if you can allow something as broken as them to be in the game then unban red-eyes dark dragoon because me personally will leave the game coz i’m no longer having any fun just to be roffel stomped every single time. Otherwise please ban kashtira shamg-ri-la.
- [R10] Bad and getting worse.: Zero variety. Poor ban list. No thought process and more bots than real players. Good solo mode but for pvp it’s not even bad, it’s complete garbage. Some cards don’t work correctly and when you report the bug you get zero response. Honestly, save your money and spend it on real cards and duel with your friends rather than waste it on this a soo lite cash grab app whe
- [R32] Starter decks against players that have over 1000 duels?: Need to start making a fair advantage online, just wasting time if you don’t spend money on a stupid phone game
- [R40] Not for newbies: Too much all at once. An opponent can wipe you out in a single opening round. Not easy to build a deck and way too many card options. I would have started with the classic and build my way up to more advance decks.
- [R2] Server issues: I love this game but too many times there is a message that pops up saying there is no response from the game server and both the retry and reboot options fail to rectify this so you have to close the game and restart it which is so annoying when you’re trying to sort your deck out
- [R50] DO NOT PLAY: started playing this on my PlayStation wanted to play it on my phone but the connection between players is so stupid I had to wait 2-3 mins before my opponent even draw a card 🤦🏻♂️ they need to make the connection better sick of playing people in Japan or that area
- [R57] Lost account: Spent hours on this account. So much time and effort, and then one day I woke up, went on the app and all the data vanished...
- [R62] Good game but kinda annoying: Love playing the game but whenever I close the app it resets the game and I have to redo everything and it keeps crashing
- [R58] Bot issues: Major AFK bot account issues, making ranked play impossible and no fun.
- [R59] When will Konami Listen To Players: So, Konami, question, are you actually going to get rid of the afk bots in ranked? Or are you gunna leave them in? Beacause it’s impossible to find actual players atm, your game is literally being played only by bots
- [R60] What’s happened? 25/5/22: I don’t know what’s going on in the matchmaking but I consistently am getting matched up with Asian accounts that aren’t playing the game, are they bots? Sure they’re free wins but I want to play game. Now every time I see a vanilla account with an Asian name I just back out before the game starts.
- [R28] Rubbish: I had a match when I was 5 years old, after the opponent played through their entire deck in their first turn, I was already 15 by the time it was my turn. The game is quite boring simply because it lacks originality or creativity. Almost everyone is using the dame deck that they’ve seen on rumble or YouTube. I’d recommend Shadowverse or EDOPro as a better alternative to this. I’ve unin
- [R29] Bruh: Top Notch Game from Konami, 10/10 Music, reactive gameplay while still being clear and concise with what’s going on in the board. Though one pet peeve is that I’m seeing a lot of sweats and people playing a lot of the same decks and it gets really boring after a while, though that’s the players fault.
- [R37] Good game but: At it’s roots this game is great, all the cards you can possibly remember from days of nostalgia and enjoyment, however this game literally forces you to play 3 maybe 4 decks if you ever plan on actually winning. Very little margin for A more diverse taste in play. You either jump on the band wagon as everyone else or you get steamrolled repeatedly.
- [R71] Slow gameplay, has a major glitch: Honestly, i start a duel and i’m sitting there for a good 5 minute waiting for the opponent to finish his move summoning and special summoning 10 different monsters just to get his bad boy XYZ monsters on. Oh, lets not forget Number 59: The Crooked Cook. It’s effect is “while you control no other card on the field, this card is unaffected by other cards’ effect”.
- [R105] Too many bugs: - Scrap-iron scarecrow doesn’t work - Player can still search/add cards from deck with spells and monster effect after Droll & lock bird activation. - bottomless trap hole doesn’t work half of the time. Monster just special summoned with 1500+ attacks, doesn’t give you an option to activate. Player continues with summon & combo into other summon. - Biggest Glitch, New game starts c
- [R15] Disappointing: The most unbalanced card game I’ve ever played unless your using a meta deck you don’t stand a chance boring watching someone take 5 min to take their turn cause their summoning a million monsters in one go if you had to do it with real cards your go would take 20 min broken boring and unbalanced
- [R23] Broken exploits…: I had 5 games and the opponent got first turn every game, so I’m sat there for 10mins while they chain this and link that… I’ve got even place a card yet and my opponent has 5 cards all with 3000+ damage all sorts of special summons and god knows what else! So I surrender, next game same thing, next game same thing… I thought it would be a really nice nostalgia trip from my chi
- [R43] Exceptional App However…: Firstly my rating isn’t based on the app its based on the game of Yu Gi Oh itself and how the app deals with it. I saw this app and immediately brought back memories of the original anime and of course the OG Forbidden Memories so from that it’s easy to tell I’ve not kept up with Yugi since then. The duelling has progressed so far since the anime that it’s very diffic
- [R113] Never felt more rage in my life: Self explanatory. Only game I’ve felt rage. If you’re new… good luck.
