Recurring themes

Difficulty & Balance negative
Many players find the game, especially scenarios and later conquests, excessively difficult. They report that AI opponents have unfair advantages, unlimited units, and higher damage, making it nearly impossible to win without significant investment in generals or upgrades. This often leads to frustration and a feeling of being 'steamrolled' early in campaigns. The developer's notes mention new hard mode content, which might exacerbate this issue for some players.R10R12R27R45
Pay-to-Win (P2W) negative
A prevalent complaint is that the game has become 'pay-to-win,' where progress is severely hampered unless players spend money on powerful generals, elite units, or upgrades. Users feel that the in-game rewards are insufficient to keep up with the escalating difficulty, forcing them to open their wallets. Some even report spending significant amounts (e.g., $80, $100, $200) without achieving satisfactory progress.R12R23R36R65
AI Performance negative
Players frequently criticize the AI, particularly allied AI, for being 'useless,' 'braindead,' or 'non-existent.' Allies often fail to assist, lose territories quickly, or make illogical moves, leaving the player to fight alone. Conversely, enemy AI is often described as 'cheating' with unlimited resources and units, creating an imbalance.R6R31R33R74
Lost Progress & Bugs negative
Multiple reviews report critical issues such as lost game progress, deleted accounts, and disappearance of purchased items, often after updates or reinstallations. Users also mention game crashes and an inability to log in, with customer service being unresponsive to these issues. The lack of a save feature for event missions is also a common complaint, leading to lost time and effort.R13R17R57R72
Gameplay Variety & Features mixed
While many appreciate the existing gameplay, there are frequent requests for new features. These include a custom map maker, sandbox mode, multiplayer, more modern conquest maps, and the ability to play as neutral countries. Some also suggest quality-of-life improvements like group unit movement or destination plotting. The developer's notes indicate new historical retrospections and a new module, which aligns with adding content, but not necessarily the requested sandbox or custom map features.R1R8R9R15

Who it's for

This game is for strategic players who enjoy challenging, deep, and often grindy mobile strategy games, especially those who appreciate historical military simulations and offline play R21R29R44. It is also suitable for players who have enjoyed previous World Conqueror titles . However, it is not for players easily frustrated by extreme difficulty, perceived pay-to-win mechanics, or unresponsive AI teammates R12R23R81. Players who prefer casual gaming or expect smooth progression without spending money should likely skip this game .

Evidence note: The recent reviews skew significantly negative, focusing heavily on difficulty, pay-to-win aspects, and technical issues. While there are positive reviews, they are fewer and often mention the game's long-standing appeal rather than recent improvements. The lifetime rating of 4.6 suggests a more positive historical sentiment, indicating a potential decline in recent user satisfaction.

  1. [R6] 2/5 · US Ehhhhh: The game itself is very cool, it simulates from the eyes of generals moving divisions around on fronts, but every country that seems strong is strong until you play as them. It would also be cool to see some AI innovation come to the game. Maybe be able to request diplomacy or cities from your allies, it should be one stars are the easiest countries and three are the hardest because you ha
  2. [R5] 5/5 · US Very interesting: Very tough and sweet
  3. [R21] 5/5 · US No other games like these: Played this game on and off since high school, it’s been a good one. The Generals have always been cool to see, the updates have been welcomed, and the conquest modes based in real campaigns of WW2 have been a welcomed addition to give it more life. Definitely worth trying out if you are into strategy games but it is definitely pay-to-win if you splurge for the best gene
  4. [R29] 5/5 · US Awesome game: I have spent many hours playing this game, and it is a blast! It also is one of the only high quality mobile games close Hoi4. Only one thing needs to be improved, which is variety of army group modes. All in all though, this is a great game!
  5. [R11] 5/5 · US Very good: I’ve been playing for a few years and it still has so much too offer and the historical retrospective is amazing it’s fun with consistent events
  6. [R14] 5/5 · US My childhood: This game is my childhood. I still play it on the plane and during long car rides. I love the fact that it’s still getting updated.
  7. [R38] 5/5 · US Excellent: Glad that they keep updating the game.
  8. [R44] 5/5 · US Great Game: World Conqueror 4 is an amazing game, it’s not repetitive and requires critically thinking because if you misclick it could be fatal. An even better thing about this game is that it’s free to play, doesn’t require IAP to win, and doesn’t require internet so you can play offline! Something I would recommend adding is price reductions for some nations. Ex) Tanks costing less for Germany
  9. [R51] 5/5 · US Well done: One of the best games that doesn’t need Wi-Fi that I have had the joy of playing. Despite being terribly inaccurate (e.g. certain generals that have already died or left their posts are featured in later conquests or the map sizes/country shapes and the weapons used by each country. Despite this I still love to play this game as despite it being kinda grindy there is always something go
  10. [R50] 5/5 · US NO ADS!!!!!!!!!!!!: There are literally no ads to this game (unless you chose to watch for rewards.) It also has a great setup.
  11. [R24] 5/5 · US Best mobile game ever created: I’m not even going to lie world conqueror 4 is the greatest mobile game ever created no contest. I have tons of pc games (around a hundred) and this mobile game is in my top 10 games including all of the steam games, partially due to modding by The Conqueror. I think there is a lot to add to this game, like: custom map creation, being able to link data from mobile to
  12. [R12] 1/5 · US Too hard: The game is too hard and makes it almost impossible. I have paid 80 to get some generals and upgrades but to no avail. Tank commanders are still so underpowered on events it’s ridiculous. Save your time and money and time.
  13. [R27] 3/5 · US PLLLLEAAASEEEE MAKE CONQUEST FAIR: Please make it to where the elite units in conquest are either the same level or Mabye 1 level difference. Right now with only having level three vs level 9 it’s impossible without paying money to win. Please make it more fair.
  14. [R45] 1/5 · US To hard: Bro is to hard
  15. [R131] 3/5 · US This game is good, but too difficult: The gameplay and art style are both excellent, though historical events can sometimes be a bit fictionalized, like the level where Germany occupies Britain in WWII. But why can't the maximum number of turns for historical battles be increased? Sometimes you're close to winning, but the AI-controlled troops keep blocking the main city. You can't defeat them, and your troops can't enter, so you just watch yourself lose. It would be best to increase the player's economy and tech points a bit, allowing for faster access to powerful equipment. Sometimes you could win, just one or two turns short, but still end up losing. Also, the AI in this game is a bit overpowered and unfriendly to new players. I suggest adding difficulty options. I've played your other two games, European War 6, and they both have this issue with strong AI. I hope you can change it. Sometimes a bunch of troops surround an enemy capital, and you use all your troops just to defeat the ones inside, only for the enemy to summon a new unit next turn. You could remove this AI setting. I suggest updating the game or releasing a new one directly, fixing these issues. Old players bringing in new ones would also increase game popularity. Overall, this is a niche quality game, but its unfriendliness to new players keeps its popularity very low. · translated
  16. [R23] 1/5 · US P2W: Game blows
  17. [R36] 1/5 · US Pay to Win: The time spent in this game vs the achievements/improvements obtained are completely miss aligned. I have been playing for months (because I enjoy the game) and even bought a couple times but it's impossible to scale up. What you receive for completing missions and battles is sooooooooo little compared to what you need to improve your generals. Honestly I am giving up
  18. [R145] 3/5 · US Pay to win: It is fun but if you want to win you really need to pay for things
  19. [R74] 3/5 · US Fix ai: While the game is enjoyable the ai when you play conquest is terrible, and seems to all ways put you in a losing position by not helping for example when I play as the allies as India I notice if I’m not directly funding people like the uk or Russia or even France they completely lose there provinces In Africa and Asia also Australia literally does nothing at all to help ( I would recomme
  20. [R31] 1/5 · US Domination mode sucks: AI cheats and gets a bunch of gold and soldiers, makes it impossible to actually have a fun game, if you pick allies, all allied countries are useless and don’t help, same for axis. I pick Finland and get boned by USSR, and they are a powerhouse in the War. I chose India and check that the world spending Finnish empire had taken the USSR. Has potential but balancing sucks
  21. [R112] 2/5 · US Teammates are useless: In the game no matter what side I pick my teammates always end up dying within the first 10-20 moves. Whenever I played as the Canada, Russia and the USA would always end up doing nothing and losing insanely fast! Please fix this issue please 🙏 I can’t win a game by myself or survive whenever my teammates just sit there doing nothing they don’t even bother to provide aid.At
  22. [R197] 2/5 · US Unrealistic: I know that ranking up to get generals is part of winning the game, but other than that I wish your allies were more realistic to real life. In this game they don’t do anything and get conquered in a few turns so in the beginning of the game you are left helpless.
  23. [R57] 2/5 · US Two years gone!: Why!!! Can't it auto-save!!! Ah!!! Ah!!! · translated
  24. [R133] 3/5 · US Great game but: Excellent game that I’ve played for years. Would be five stars if you could save your progress when playing three star event modes on individual missions, such as those for like the battle of Alaska. Not the iCloud save feature but this is the only event mode where if you leave the active mission or left the app in the background for a moderate amount of time, it doesn’t save your
  25. [R172] 2/5 · US Great game but needs a major fix: My only problem with the game is that the events need an option to save. I hate having to keep the tab open not being able to play other games on the app. If you accidentally close the tab or if your phone dies, then all the time that you spent on trying to pass the event was all in vain
  26. [R166] 1/5 · US Storm of Steal: I spent 2-3 hours on my first Storm of Steal match as northern Russia. All I had left was to take out Italy’s and I could win and experience the new rewards system for myself. Then, my screen went black, my game crashed, and after I got back on, I restarted all the way to round 15!!!!! I’m very upset and won’t play Storm of Steal again.
  27. [R72] 1/5 · US Deleted game: My game deleted and I’m trying to get it back. I was far in the game and I reached out with no response.
  28. [R96] 1/5 · US Anyway to get it back?: I would give the game 5 stars I logged on one day and I lost an entire year of progress and over 100$ dollars of things for some reason
  29. [R124] 1/5 · US They deleted my account: After progressing in the game and completing the grueling campaign, leveling up my generals and PURCHASING resources and new commanders they inexplicably deleted my account. I emailed them and received no response. Avoid this game
  30. [R185] 1/5 · US Loss all my generals, tanks, everything on update, customer service will not answer any emails: I really like this game, but though you have answered my first email, I provided receipts, screen shots, everything to show you that I lost two years of my progress. This was my favorite game and at first you gave me some hope, but now you won’t even answer. I hope you can look into this. I provided
  31. [R78] 1/5 · US Levels: I do not like playing the scenarios just to unlock the years. The scenarios are too challenging and I like to lay back and play. It is really frustrating and when I watch youtube videos to complete them, it is never the same! There troops can go farther then mine. I want to play the later versions but don't want to keep playing the challenges to unlock them. I am not that kind of player!
  32. [R195] 3/5 · US Games great…Mostly…: Games fun and it’s got everything you want in strategy but my god are the scenarios absolutely ridiculous, only a limited amount of moves and they always have way stronger unit then you and in order to unlock more conquest modes you have to beat the scenarios…I’ve been stuck on all these scenarios for weeks and it’s very aggravating.
  33. [R258] 3/5 · GB Getting any new conquest maps is too tedious: I don’t want to constantly grind for days or even weeks just to get one map, make a better and less tedious way to get maps or I’m quitting
  34. [R385] 3/5 · GB Eh: I think there should be an option to make it a timer to unlock Year’s instead of playing all scenarios of all sides like wc3 so ppl can play all scenarios or just wait
  35. [R48] 1/5 · US Payments: I bought a 5.99 bundle it charged me $20.48…. That’s horrible I use Venmo maybe then but for now it lays here
  36. [R132] 3/5 · US Great game but sus sales: Decided to buy the enterprise pack bc it said I get a fully upgraded lv 12 enterprise, well it gave me 30 puzzle pieces and I got a lv1. Why present it like I’m getting a maxed out enterprise to trick me into buying, the ship is good but only rating 3 stars for sketchy sales tactics. It was only 7 bucks but still, give me my lv 12 enterprise.
  37. [R210] 2/5 · US Game is cheating: The game is cheating you, if you claim 4 free “sword of dominance” and then you buy another 12 you will have….only 12, and it’s useless because to activate them you need 16, so looks like they force you to spend some extra money.
  38. [R10] 3/5 · US Not good enough: It’s just impossible to win with Germany.
  39. [R65] 2/5 · US Pay to win: It was a good game. It really was. However, with the updates, it became simply numerical inflation, especially in events. They are just meaningless numerical stacking, you surely achieve extreme high critical damage that wipes out every units if you pay enough money. But what’s the point of this as a strategy game?
  40. [R33] 4/5 · US Small imperfections: This game is really fun however the fact that I have to do the scenarios on both sides to get new conquest modes is fairly annoying especially since the teammate ai is seemingly braindead(if it had a brain) which makes the scenario mode kinda hard which wouldn’t bother me if I didn’t have to do it to unlock more conquest maps. Please just fix this in another update or another
  41. [R13] 1/5 · US Not letting me play: Absolute joke of a game fix this or I will delete please fix this my favorite game
  42. [R17] 1/5 · US Failure: I can’t get into the game, it just won’t load
  43. [R1] 5/5 · US Really good just one thing: I really like the game since it almost never gets boring but i would recommend making a custom map maker or even expanding onto steam if you haven’t already so people can use the workshop but anyways with the custom map maker it would be really nice cuz there’s only so many scenarios you can make yourself and even then some people dont like things about them and if anyt
  44. [R8] 4/5 · US Add sandbox: It’s a really good game but I think the dev should add a sandbox thing where you can pick a battleField and Spawn armies and fight them. But over all I love this game
  45. [R9] 5/5 · US PLAY THAT GAME AND THANKS ME LATER !!!: I love the game we can see the differences between the 3 and the 4 , I would think of it even better if we would have a lot of more map in conquest like 2017 or 2026 and mostly with neutral playing country were we could chose side . The only thing I would like to change would be the scenario and the Numbers of medals gain cause I waiste many time by waiting
  46. [R15] 5/5 · US Great game - future destination feature: Awesome game and I spend way too much time playing 😂 would love to see a plotting feature for conquest or some of the other longer campaign modes. Essentially I’d love the option to tell a unit “here’s where I want you to go asap” I click the unit, click on a different part of the map, and the unit goes there as my turns progress. I truly detest having to k
  47. [R81] 1/5 · US Do not download this game!: Don’t download this game as it’s severely pay to win and most of the time can’t win without buying overpowered generals, also don’t download this game because the Ai is stupid and almost non existent doesn’t even help you in the scenarios missions and just takes your cities so you can’t build your troops, fix your game don’t download!!!!!!!
