Fitbod
Fitbod is a highly-rated workout app that excels at generating personalized routines and tracking progress, but its mandatory subscription and recent updates have led to significant user frustration.
Fitbod offers personalized workout plans, progress tracking, and exercise demonstrations, making it a valuable tool for many users. However, it requires a paid subscription, with prices up to $95.99 per year, and recent updates have introduced bugs and reduced customization options, leading to complaints about its value and user experience.
Free vs paid
The app is not truly free; it requires a subscription, often advertised as free with a trial, but immediately asks for payment information R2R11R17. Users cannot access the core features, such as personalized workout schedules or progress tracking, without paying for a subscription, which can be as high as $95.99 per year R2. The 'free' experience is limited to onboarding and then a paywall, with some users reporting difficulty canceling trials or subscriptions R9R18R23.

- [R2] Nooooooooo: Horrible it told me on an add it was completely free but no over 95.00$ a year!
- [R11] Stupid: I downloaded it, answered all the questions and then it brought up the usual... Paying for a subscription. There was no X on the screen and it wouldn't let me past that screen almost making sign up for a subscription. I tried to close and refresh app but then it just went back to that screen. Waste of time signing up for something that was supposed to be free.
- [R17] Subscription Mandatory: Classic free SaS app that makes you make an account and then immediately asks for an auto renewing payment method to do a free trial. Can’t even get to the page to delete your account without putting in payment information.
- [R28] L: Has an app purchases can’t have unless monthly purchase
- [R9] Charging me: Even though I try to cancel subscription it keeps on charging me money 1/10 i would definitely not recommend🤮🤢
- [R18] Scam: Once they have your credit card information, they make it impossible for you to cancel. Absolutely a nightmare. The free trial is a bait, they don’t let you see what the app is really about until they get your information and then good luck getting it to cancel.
- [R23] STOP TRYING TO TAKE PAYMENT: I’ve been trying for weeks to figure out how to stop this app from taking a payment from my Apple Cash! They are trying to take $69.99 because I did a trial three days through the Planet Fitness app and evidently there was also another three day trial directly through the Fitbod app that’s trying to take out $95.99, but they are trying to charge me both charges and try
- [R47] Sucks: Would not let me cancel and didn’t help with anything
- [R1] Love this app: Feels great! Easy to follow! And I can scale weight gradually or quickly and I see my strength growing over time! Feel strong!
- [R3] Accountability Partner extraordinaire!: I've been using FitBot for three years now, and it just keeps getting better. It keeps me accountable because across different training goals, across different gyms.
- [R5] My personal trainer: Love the app. I like the variety of exercises and the progressive layout of keeping me growing.
- [R6] Mr dot: Best workout app instantly started seeing results
- [R8] 5 years of Consistency: I’ve been using Fitbod since February 2021 and I’ve never stopped. This is the first and only app I’ve ever used for fitness. It guides me on my cuts, bulks, muscle building phases and strength building phases. It helps me stay accountable and updates my workouts when I add equipment to my home gym. I will be a lifetime customer.
- [R10] Excellent: Select and modify my own workout locations and receiving appropriate workouts from Fitbod - excellent, though I’m not confident abdominal crutches should ever be recommended any more due to risk to lumbar!
- [R13] Love workouts pre planned: I think in android you can log injuries that maybe will offer more protective workouts which would be nice - love the app has my workout planned out so I just show up
- [R19] Perfect for me: I’ve been using the program for 3 years and have a current 138 week streak going. It works well at staggering workouts for the muscle groups and utilizing the equipment I have loaded in. I’m a numbers guy so I love all the data and watching my progress in the app. It connects seamlessly with Apple health and Fitbit to give me an all encompassing picture and f my health and where I
- [R21] Great app: Easy to set
- [R67] $100 app: This stupid app requires downloading and creating an account before they slap you with the price tag of $100/yr and no free version. Why is this info not front and center before downloading the app?
- [R36] Was great until…: They incorporated AI
- [R43] Strong app, but falling behind AI-enabled fitness tools: Key issues with Fitbod right now: * AI-enabled tools are starting to feel more useful. * With AI, I can explain my goals, injuries, available equipment, body metrics, and schedule in plain language. * AI can help interpret research, explain the numbers, and adjust programming based on context. * I can also use photos, scale data
