Speak & Translate vs Voice Translator
Speak & Translate (App A) is the better choice for general translation needs, despite its loading issues, offering more reliable voice and text translation compared to Voice Translator (App B), which struggles with accuracy and consistent functionality.
Speak & Translate (App A) generally offers more accurate and efficient translations for both speech and text, though it is plagued by slow loading times and frequent review prompts. Voice Translator (App B) suffers from significant accuracy issues, inconsistent voice detection, and a clunky user experience, despite some users finding it simple.
Head to head
You need accurate translation for long conversations and are willing to tolerate slow loading times and frequent review prompts R5R8. You prioritize strong text translation over flawless speech recognition R8.
You need a simple, no-frills translator for basic spoken text to Spanish and vice versa, especially for quick conversations via apps like WhatsApp, and are comfortable with its limitations and potential for glitches .
Evidence note: Both apps have a significant number of negative reviews related to their 'Free + IAP' model, with users feeling misled about pricing and experiencing unexpected charges. This skews recent reviews negatively for both, making it difficult to compare value directly.

- [R4] Speak & Translate It was a great application: They sent out an update a couple of weeks ago and now it doesn’t know what language you are speaking. It went from good to useless.
- [R5] Speak & Translate Fast and good for long conversations: I was skeptical at first, but having tried it with my Spanish-speaking loved one it makes life very easy in translating very complicated conversations in in a very efficient way
- [R8] Speak & Translate Complete and correct: Found this app to be useful both in speech and text.
- [R10] Speak & Translate Voice input languages are not available: Persian and many more languages are not available in voice mode not benifited
- [R1] Speak & Translate Good app once it loads: The app still takes a long time to load
- [R3] Speak & Translate Long App Load Time: The app takes a very long time to load, which makes it difficult if you are trying to start or answer in a conversation
- [R6] Speak & Translate Review Request with each use?: Why does the app ask for a review every time you open the app?
- [R18] Speak & Translate Crashes all the time: I have to uninstall the app almost every day to get it to work. Also wish it had the option to default to Type mode as speech to Spanish isn’t very reliable in the translation. I type and check it to ensure the intention is at least close before sharing the translation to the recipient. Guess I’m saying this app just isn’t there yet but it’s awesome that communicating with ot
- [R19] Speak & Translate It did not work: The up runs but it did not listen, just errors.
- [R22] Speak & Translate When it works it’s great.: Doesn’t work half of the time. Just opens to a blank screen.
- [R25] Speak & Translate Bait and Switch: Did not realize this was automatically going to create a subscription and charged me $9.99 plus tax per week for almost two months. Unfortunately I did not realize as it was subtracting from my Apple balance which I do not monitor that closely. Reached out to Apple to refund who has provided little/no help so far. Read the other reviews! I expect more from this company and App
- [R28] Speak & Translate you cant do anything without paying: you literally cant do anything in this app if you dont pay for a subscription. NOT EVEN TEXT. google translate is better than this because at least you can translate something without needing to pay a monthly subscription. dont get this app
- [R33] Speak & Translate Not free: It would be nice if the company promp that the app is not free, I read a lot of reviews because I would be downloading this for my job and I’m the only American. Although, the reviews show me it is definitely worth the $100 a year. Still might buy it but just know people are deleting right after downloading because they were unaware
- [R43] Speak & Translate This is not free at all.: Apps with a seven day free trial should say “free trial” not “get”. After seven days this app cost $10 a week and of course you’re required to put your credit card in to start the free trial, but this is only after you’ve spent some time setting up the app
- [R64] Voice Translator BEWARE!!!!: I accepted the 3 day trial which triggered the $40 purchase, which I promptly cancelled, and they wont refund. I wouldn’t care if it was a quality app but it isn’t.
- [R7] Speak & Translate Awful: It sucks… commands are not immediately responsive, and it’s clunky
- [R12] Speak & Translate Paid for it because it was great at first but now if I need it quickly it takes 4 minutes of buffer: When I first got it, it was great and fast. But now everytime I open the app, it goes straight to a white screen that takes like 2 minutes to load to the actual app. No updates I needed tried to close the app and reopen. Still happens. And then once the app opens, it lags when I change from voice t
- [R76] Voice Translator Didn’t have voice output language I wanted: It wasn’t until after purchasing that I found it didn’t have the voice output for the language I wanted.
- [R90] Voice Translator Doesn’t have voice output in Vietnamese: This is a little disappointing because the app marketing makes it seem like voice output is available in 100+ languages.
- [R97] Voice Translator Limited language support: I’m in Norway and thought this app would be great for real time translating but a message came up when selecting Norwegian that only text was supported. Well Google Translate already does that and is free. No need for this app. Even though it says it supports Norwegian for voice to voice translation. Misleading to say the least.
