KPRC 2 Weather vs MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar
MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar is the better choice for general weather radar, offering superior accuracy and reliability, while KPRC 2 Weather has been significantly hampered by recent updates.
MyRadar provides highly accurate and reliable radar, though recent changes have introduced paywalls and some technical issues. KPRC 2 Weather, despite a higher lifetime rating, has suffered from a universally panned update that introduced numerous bugs, excessive ads, and removed key features.
Head to head
You are specifically interested in local Houston weather from KPRC 2 and are willing to tolerate significant app issues, excessive ads, and a degraded user experience in hopes of future improvements .
You need a highly accurate and reliable weather radar for tracking storms and rain, are willing to pay for a subscription to avoid paywalls and ads, and prioritize real-time weather visualization .
Evidence note: Recent reviews for KPRC 2 Weather are overwhelmingly negative, indicating a sharp decline in quality following a major update, which contrasts with its higher lifetime rating. MyRadar's recent reviews also show frustration with new paywalls and ads, but its core radar functionality remains highly praised.

- [R2] KPRC 2 Weather Icons: For the most part I like the app but the location icons on the radar map are way too big. And the location descriptor label is very annoying. It covers the area you are trying to see and takes several taps to get rid of. I would prefer it didn’t even appear. I do like seeing the future cast radar.
- [R6] KPRC 2 Weather Screen Orientation: App doesn’t detect my iPad’s landscape (widescreen) orientation and rotates to portrait (vertical) as soon as it opens. Displays everything sideways! Been a problem since the new version was released. Fix it!
- [R9] KPRC 2 Weather Add Quick Access to Humidity Please: Opening page is a visual scramble. And I’d like to see the humidity or dew point or wet bulb figures. If they are there I cannot easily find them. Thanks
- [R11] KPRC 2 Weather Please add landscape mode for iPad: When the app opens, it shows briefly in landscape mode and immediately converts to portrait mode. iPad is set up to change mode as I turn iPad different directions and works on all other apps, but not this one
- [R1] KPRC 2 Weather Beansiesdaddy: This version of the app crashes constantly
- [R3] KPRC 2 Weather Widget stopped working: I added a widget to my iPad Home Screen for this app some time ago so I can see the hourly weather at all times. I quit working yesterday and the widget now only says I must agree to the Terms and Conditions before I can use the widget. I couldn’t figure how to actually agree so I deleted the app and reinstalled it. I immediately saw the terms and conditions and clicked on
- [R10] KPRC 2 Weather Won’t even open on iPhone 16 with IOS 26: The app won’t even open. I have always had problems with it crashing, but after upgrade to IOS 26, the KPRC weather app won’t even open. It gets to the welcome screen and then disappears.
- [R15] KPRC 2 Weather Delayed radar: Your radar map is lagging minutes behind and only showing rain after it’s happened. I miss the old app
- [R7] KPRC 2 Weather Horrible Now: Deleted! Re-uploaded after last deletion and staying away. Now way way too many ads and they take up the entire screen plus my virus protection often blocks and/or warns on these ad websites also some cause my camera to engage. Too bad - deleted forever now
- [R12] KPRC 2 Weather Bring the old version back please!: The update that just happened this spring is not great. The new look for the user interface is confusing and clunky to navigate, the new radar seems to have poorer quality and full screen pop up ads with countdowns before you can exit out of them seem to be more frequent. At least to local weather notifications and alerts still seem to function the same.
- [R16] KPRC 2 Weather Latest Update: Do not care for update….cannot type in location! Have to go to stupid map and find city on map by enlarging map….Useless and time consuming Very confusing to use and will probably delete Why did y’all ruin a good thing!!!!!!
- [R20] KPRC 2 Weather New Weather: Sorry the radar you use to have was better. And all the ads you have to go through to get what you are looking forREALLY?
- [R4] KPRC 2 Weather The worst forecasting: How this app has so many five stars is beyond me. Must be paid reviews because the KPRC weather guy, Anthony Yáñez, rarely gets the forecast right. As I sit here typing this, the app says 20% chance of rain all day yet it’s storming at my house. Last night, Yanez said the rain would be gone by 4 am yet here we are at 9:15 am with thunder and pouring rain. If I did my job as
- [R18] KPRC 2 Weather Disappointed: This new version could have used a tutorial. Took me days to figure it out. I don’t like the new radar map. Today the app says we have a 20% chance of rain all day and my husband’s app (old version) says we have a 71% chance! Hmm… which one do we go by? This is the reason I can’t give a better rating. When you fix one of the apps to sync with the other to give the exact same
- [R22] KPRC 2 Weather Worst: This app used to be accurate but now is not even close. When you switch between cities it often shows weather for the wrong one. I know it’s not just me because it is the same problem on my spouse’s phone. Just stick with the app that came on your phone or WeatherBug.
- [R56] KPRC 2 Weather Ever since the update…: This app has become virtually useless. The interface is awkward and clunky. In the old version everything you needed was available when it loaded. Now you have to go to the menu to find anything and there is no back button. But worst of all the forecast never matches the broadcast forecast and is not remotely close to the weather in my neighborhood. This used to be my
- [R13] KPRC 2 Weather Annoying notifications from meteorologists: The app is great for providing alerts when weather changes in your area and gives you a quick access to the forecast. But every day you’ll get these alerts from the meteorologist. There isn’t a way to turn it off without turning off all alerts. Expect to get them as early as 7:00 am.
- [R65] MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar MyRadar: thank you for the notification for the quad city weather forecast for the weather and warmer cooler temperatures thank you
- [R96] MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar Notifications won’t turn off: I am a premium subscriber and have all of the tropical storm related notifications turned off, but it’s still sending me push notifications every time a random tropical storm changes categories on the other side of the planet. Fix your notification settings page! I even tried turning ALL notifications off and it only seemed to disable my local weather notifications.
- [R24] KPRC 2 Weather Don't waste your time!: Update: tried once more tonight during severe weather. Could not get past the repeated ads to look at the radar. Deleted it from my phone. Do not waste your time. It's a money grabber - not a lifesaver! This was a strong app when Frank Billingsley was still there. Now it's awful and full of ads to get to anything important, like the radar. Not worth the wasted time when th
- [R26] KPRC 2 Weather What a shame.: Bring back the old app. Worked good and was easy to use and understand. I see it is now retired so I downloaded the new one and will now delete it and find something else. This is hot garbage
- [R28] KPRC 2 Weather Why?: You took a great app and destroyed it. Used to be my go to hurricane tracker, now it is unusable. Filled with ads and watered down by combining countless other weather nonsense. If you’re looking for a good hurricane tracker, like this used to be, go somewhere else. This is no longer it. Very disappointed. You lost a longtime user and advocate. Don’t trust the 4.8 rating, that was the old ve
- [R19] KPRC 2 Weather Hurricanes: Terrible place to get real time info. Old app was much better and user friendly. Looking for a new app for hurricanes so I can stay better informed
- [R31] KPRC 2 Weather Won’t help when you need it most: Terribly complicated and confusing. Not easy to use during critical times like when a hurricane is on its way to Houston. On a clear bright sunny day you’ll have time to figure out how to use the app. But when it’s seriously scary weather, just don’t bother with this app. Find an app that can give you the quickest and most accurate weather info in an easy to use a
- [R58] KPRC 2 Weather Horrible: This use to be my favorite weather app before it changed. Now it is horrible. So is the hurricane tracking app Channel2 has. I use to recommend this to everyone now I’m using another app. Please go back the way it was!! I would give zero stars if possible.
- [R79] MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar New paywall: Looks like they put an oversized paywall on the app and it’s no longer usable for free. Uninstalled, will just use freebie websites now. It looks like it also contains known tracking spyware too.
- [R88] MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar No longer free?: We always used this app to check where the rain was until the 1st of July. Now, we only get a screen to “try a 7 day trial” or subscribe for $29.99 a year. We are unable to get past it. Is this a “glitch” or is this no longer a free app? If this gets fixed & we can see the radar again without subscribing, I will change my rating to 5 stars because of how much we love this app.
- [R91] MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar What happened to MyRadar App: I have used this app for years and it always works great, but a few days ago it no longer lets you past a page wanting you to signup for one year at $29.99! What’s up with that????? Leave it the way it used to be! I have friends and family all over the United States and like to see what’s going on in the World! It was nice to see the complete United States in one plac
- [R100] MyRadar Accurate Weather Radar Used to be free but not anymore: Developers have pushed an update in the last few weeks such that within about 48 hours the app opens and the only option is a 7 day free trial with a $30 annual renewal. This app has been great for years but no more. It shouldn’t appear in a search for free weather radar apps.
