Stack Team App vs Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is generally a more reliable and feature-rich communication platform for professional and organizational use, despite its own set of notification and usability issues, while Stack Team App struggles with intrusive ads and persistent notification bugs.
Microsoft Teams, with its higher lifetime rating and vast user base, offers a more robust platform for team communication, though it faces consistent complaints about notification syncing and occasional bugs. Stack Team App, while functional for team management, is significantly hampered by intrusive ads, persistent notification issues, and a less intuitive user interface.
Head to head
Pick Stack Team App if you are managing a casual sports group or youth organization and are willing to tolerate intrusive ads and some UI clunkiness for its specific team management features like attendance tracking R8.
Pick Microsoft Teams if you need a robust, integrated communication and collaboration platform for professional or educational settings, especially if your organization already uses Microsoft products, and you prioritize core functionalities like chat, calls, and video conferencing .
Evidence note: Reviews for Stack Team App are heavily skewed towards negative experiences with ads and notifications, which is common for free apps. Microsoft Teams, despite its higher lifetime rating, also has a significant number of recent negative reviews focusing on persistent notification bugs and authentication issues, indicating a decline in user satisfaction for some core functionalities.

- [R2] Stack Team App Clunky but capable: On par with the other apps I’ve used as far as capability. Not the best workflow out there but useful with some practice and messing around for a bit and figuring things out. Needs a dark mode.
- [R5] Stack Team App Solid App for Teams/Minor Prod Bug: This app is great. Functionality is solid. No need to go outside the app for team management or communication. I think there is a minor prod bug with the survey module not recognizing the users timezone. Ex: If I’m in the central timezone and I confirmed that was the timezone selected in app, and my current time is 7:00 am and I create a survey to go live at 7:1
- [R8] Stack Team App A Must-Have for our golf group: I started an evening golf group in our new neighborhood. Group texts worked well enough when the group size was under, say, ten. Unmanageable for greater numbers. Stack Team works perfectly. The Track Attendance feature puts each golfer in charge of their participation. Admins can also schedule a reminder. We love the app!
- [R10] Stack Team App Rubbish: Horrible UI, missed alerts and overall subpar experience compared to GameChanger. So many ads throughout the UI that makes the user experience even worse. Developers - spend some of your revenue on improving the UI and take GameChanger as a template
- [R9] Stack Team App Major spacing issues, please fix: Can you please fix your spacing issues!!!! Spacing looks great while editing on a computer BUT then when you look at it on your phone app, it’s completely messed up and adds weird extra spacing between lines etc… This hasn’t been addressed in the 5 years we’ve been using your great app. My rating will go up to 5 stars if this finally gets fixed! Please!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
- [R21] Stack Team App Now hard to keep up with new posts from each team.: I have 4 boys. Each child plays 3-5 different sports. That is potentially 17 different teams. A few use different apps and a few have the same team app group, but my point is it’s a lot to keep up with. My husband also coaches some teams. The newest major update made it very difficult to keep up with each team individually. Some teams I have to m
- [R1] Stack Team App Notifications don’t clear: Every time I get a message I have to read it under both Chats and under my ‘teams’ chat so it’s twice as much work just to get the notification to go away. Waste of my time.
- [R3] Stack Team App Good but needs a few tweaks: They need to change the notifications. If you’re an administrator or a coach, you get notifications for everything that everybody does. They should separate the notifications for sign ups and events. It’d be great to get a message when an event is happening that you’re attending, but not when an event is happening and when somebody signed up for something
- [R6] Stack Team App Inconsistent: Buggy, badges show up with no way to clear, chats don’t show. For a communication app it doesn’t make the cut.
- [R12] Stack Team App Frustrating App: For people who have used team sports apps, you know that the basic functionality is fine. But there are two major problems. First is that you have to pay for the ad-free subscription for each user. There isn’t an option for a family subscription. Second, the notifications never go away. You have to click in and out and tap into chats, then notifications, then videos all in an effo
- [R4] Stack Team App Ads suck!!: Remove ads or let us pay to remove them. Very annoying
- [R7] Stack Team App App displays scammy ads: This app must use the dregs of advertising services, because I was just served an “ad” in the form of a scammy screenshot of an iOS Home Screen with a “Your device has been infected” alert. Horrific. The way these apps treat their captive users who are required to use it by some organization is disgusting.
- [R47] Stack Team App Responsive development team: Update to original review: the two issues that I had with the app, incessant ads and poor in-app navigation, have been addressed. Shortly after I posted my original review, a member of the development team reached out to me and helped to resolve all of the issues I had with the app. I appreciate their willingness to receive feedback and address issues. Shout out to Crai
- [R48] Stack Team App Frustrating.: After getting used to the complexities of this app and making it work for us it has recently developed a bug where comments in events & chat randomly appear and disappear. These are visible in notifications except for one’s own comments! Tried deleting and reinstalling the app which briefly worked but it’s now returned to invisible comments. Have contacted support but still no respon
- [R49] Stack Team App Terrible: Update: cannot change event RSVP count. You have to search for an answer )yet to be found). Support? Each email comes back with the same cut and paste response. There is definitely room for someone to create a new app and disrupt this clunky dated one. Older post: but true; They just updated the UI? The app is clunky to use. Adding events and games is not intuitive. Everyone complains
- [R54] Stack Team App Used for grassroots football: It’s ok but underdelivers in a lot of areas when you start actually using it - all requests for improvements are met with a “no it’s not on our list to improve” Parents can’t choose which child they want to pay subs for, can’t do family payments when you have a number of teams it’s very hard to reorder them.
- [R13] Stack Team App The ads are so intrusive: The full video ads interrupting what you’re looking at are incredibly disrespectful.
- [R16] Stack Team App Hate the adds: Nothing like a loud 30 second add when you’re trying to check a schedule.
- [R14] Stack Team App Notifications: This app serves its purpose but there are other similar apps I like better. There should be a way to customize notifications. And once you click on/view them, they don’t always go away. The little red notification bubbles that won’t go away drive me crazy!
- [R22] Stack Team App Chill on the red dots!: This app drives me crazy with the constant “notifications”. I can’t ever get rid of the red dots and often it’ll flag a message from weeks or months ago that’s not been updated at all. This leads to ignoring and missing actual updates. Please get the app to chill on the red dots and truly just notify of NEW updates. Also, as a non-coach, I also don’t need to know every time
- [R85] Microsoft Teams Crash: For several months now, Teams crashes while in a meeting. I keep missing important information or maybe in the middle of speaking.
- [R112] Microsoft Teams Almost unusable without Wi-Fi: This app is a constant headache. If you’re not connected to Wi-Fi, it’s barely functional. Even if you’re on 5G with strong signal, it constantly displays. The spinning loading symbol. Has to be restarted, frequently, freezes up often. And that’s just for messaging! Meetings are even worse. As frustrating and error prone as the desktop teams app is, this is even wors
- [R24] Stack Team App Better before recent changes: This app was great before they turned it into all about rewards and their own dashboard. It’s no longer user friendly if you have multiple groups to sort through. The rewards are insignificant, and there’s no way to turn them off.
