The Bump vs Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker
The Bump is slightly better for comprehensive pregnancy tracking and information, despite its technical issues, while Ovia offers more robust cycle tracking but has recently suffered from significant data loss and customization complaints.
The Bump excels with its detailed weekly updates and 3D baby models, making pregnancy feel organized and exciting, though it's plagued by frequent glitches and login problems. Ovia, while historically strong for cycle tracking and community, has faced recent user frustration over data loss, app redesigns, and loading issues.
Head to head
Pick The Bump if you prioritize comprehensive pregnancy information, detailed weekly updates, and 3D baby models, and are willing to tolerate occasional glitches and login issues R8R11R45R56. It's also a good choice if you appreciate a free app with extensive resources R20R53.
Pick Ovia if you need a long-term, free cycle and pregnancy tracker with community features and a wide library of articles, and you are less concerned about recent app redesigns, potential data loss, or political language in content R86.
Evidence note: Both apps are free, so the negative reviews are not skewed by free-tier friction. Ovia's recent negative reviews heavily focus on data loss and app redesigns, which significantly impact user experience despite its historically high ratings. The Bump's issues are more related to general app performance and content inconsistencies.

- [R1] The Bump Annoying: I got this app and thought it was helpful to have while tracking my pregnancy. Until I clicked on an article that discussed learning about the gender of the baby. Within the article it had a whole paragraph describing how gender and sex are different terms. Which, is not biologically true nor was this ever true. This type of agenda should not be pushed within articles on pregnancy tracki
- [R3] The Bump It’s just ok: I like that it gives daily updates of how big baby is but it gets very confusing. For example, I’m 12 weeks and baby is supposed to be the size of a lime, however on like the daily facts it says that the baby is as long as the diameter of a golf ball. Those are two VERY different sizes. This is my first baby and if I have a second I probably would not download this again.
- [R7] The Bump Glitches & Inaccuracy: It will glitch often and you’ll be stuck at the Home Screen. Also refers to breast feeding as “chest feeding” and calls us women “pregnant people”
- [R8] The Bump Great milestone information: This will be my third pregnancy using this app. I learn so much throughout the pregnancy and it keeps me on track. I love being able to look at milestones with my first child.
- [R5] The Bump Bug: Manual input doesn’t work
- [R9] The Bump Good app, if it works: I like the app when it works! It’s incredibly glitchy and takes a long time to load when opening.
- [R10] The Bump Need to fix: The app keeps logging me out, which is really frustrating. Also all the journals disappeared when it upgraded automatically and no where to be found.
- [R12] The Bump Widget does not work: Widget does not work.. Always blank other than that it’s a good app
- [R20] The Bump Amazing free resource: Thank you for offering this information for free! It’s so helpful and surprising to find free support online these days! Great ap with loads of resources
- [R53] The Bump It’s real free: Great app and doesn’t want you to pay to share any article etc.
- [R56] The Bump THE MOST AMAZING INFORMATIVE BABY APP YOU’LL EVER NEED: This app is Free, and for any Mom at any stage of Pregnancy. It has 3D Interactive features to see the growth and daily milestones of your Baby growing in your Bump. It is loaded with info. Even my Doctors were thoroughly impressed.. I am grateful for all the available features on it at no cost, especially due to having been out of work f
- [R68] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker Ovi-ously Loving This Free App!: I enjoy how easy it is to use and the fact that it is free is an additional bonus! It offers functionality, simplicity and ease. I feel like it is my personal self-care app and it gives the freedoms to write, log and journal my feelings/thoughts, my body autonomy, changes and the tracking of my XXX rated activities with my lover is perfect for trying to convince.
- [R82] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker .: This app used to be amazing. Once they merged all the apps I lost everything. Only response I can get is I apparently I deleted my account and haven’t used it when it was used every month multiple times. Over 10 years of data gone with no explanation. UPDATE: I am blocked from Ovia support or just ignored. Proof is in the fact I have waited over a month, multiple emails sent, dms on socials,
- [R106] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker Painful to set up and edit: While signing up, I tried to look up my employer- who is not listed but does participate in the program. Now it’s stuck in this loop, I can’t edit, customer service doesn’t respond- when I try to chat for help, there is no one there, it’s just a reply saying someone will reach out in 2 days. I wish I wasn’t required to even give 1 star.
- [R112] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker App: App doesn’t work properly. Received a newsletter in my email and the hyperlinks didn’t work. Unable to contact technical support. My job offers assessments through the app. I click on the link to do the assessments and it doesn’t work.
- [R11] The Bump Amazing pregnancy app!: I didn’t expect an app to make pregnancy feel this organized and actually exciting, but The Bump really does. From day one, it’s been like having a calm, helpful guide in my pocket. The weekly updates are my favorite, they’re detailed but easy to understand, and I love seeing how my baby is growing in a way that actually feels real. The visuals, the size comparisons, the li
- [R45] The Bump Friendly and informational!: It’s been 15 years since I’ve given birth, so all of the resources in those app were so fun to read about this pregnancy! Also, the 3D growth tracker, daily facts, etc were extremely helpful and made this pregnancy very special.
- [R83] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker Just one error I’d like them to fix!: I love this app, I’ve used it all the way back from 2019 with my first baby to now 2026 with my 4th baby. I love all the milestones, community chats, food safety list and all the other handy tools/articles. The only issue I have with this app is the sizing of the baby in the womb. Every week it gives you a new week update on how the baby is and the sizings are
- [R18] The Bump Auto Log out: I like the app for articles and the 3D imaging of the fetus development each week, but it logs me out automatically at times. Like many people, I’m can’t keep track of all of the logins I have, so it’s a big hassle to try to log back in. I also don’t like the community chat layout. It’s hard to navigate. The one in Ovia is better.
- [R86] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker Favorite for years!: I’ve used this app for years now as it has walked with me in tracking cycles, trying to conceive now twice, pregnancy, and postpartum. I love the community features, the self care checklist, and the library of articles and videos! So many resources on this app! I have one suggestion. I would love it if the self-care checklists were saved in a way where I could look back on pre
- [R116] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker Uses your location and identity: Tracks what state you live in. This could be used as evidence against people potentially having miscarriage or abortions in states with restrictions on these activities. Do not support or recommend.
- [R61] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker Good until update: I like this app but the recent update messed up the counts on past cycles so now they all say 59 or 59 or whatever days.
- [R70] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker What happened to this app?: I’ve used this app for at least 5 years to track my periods. No longer will it tell you how many days you are into/between your cycle(s), or even show when your next expected one is. Useless now.
- [R77] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker NOT Suitable for irregular cycles: I do love the features of this app but it does not give me the option to accurately input my cycle days that are not on the average 28 day scale. I have to manually input my dates and do the separate math to make sure I have the right date tracking my pregnancy. If I put the right due date, it’s moved my LMP and date of conception to incorrect days. It is good f
- [R90] Ovia Cycle & Pregnancy Tracker Irregular Cycle: After awhile App fails Manual entry for period. It wants the ovulation tracked first.
