DailyArt vs Sketch a Day
DailyArt is better for those who want to learn about art history and appreciate a curated daily piece, while Sketch a Day is superior for aspiring artists seeking daily drawing prompts and a supportive community.
DailyArt offers a daily dose of art history and education, but its free version is heavily impacted by ads and paywalls. Sketch a Day provides daily drawing prompts and fosters a positive community for artists, though some users experience technical glitches and moderation issues.

- [R2] DailyArt Inspirational: I have been using that app for a while and it’s been a blast. Every day I take a short break from my usual routine to discover and read about new art pieces. My city lacks art galleries so for me this is the best way to connect with beauty and messages each piece provides.
- [R5] DailyArt Unbelievably Educational: Solid educational app. I really didn’t know anything about art but daily viewing reading the piece of the of day has taught me how to identifying realism vs Impressionism and baroque vs modern styles. It’s become one of the highlights of my day and it certainly beats doom scrolling.
- [R8] DailyArt A lovely little app: Everyday is a joyful discovery of a new and beautiful art piece, along with a brief description of its artist and meaning.
- [R35] DailyArt The best app to learn about different types of art: This app is amazing! I love going in every single day to see the piece of the day. The writing is always a little different, which makes it interesting to come back and read every day. Overall, it’s a great way to learn about little by little every day.
- [R1] DailyArt Cool app but ads ruin it: Shouldn’t have to pay to enjoy an app. Can’t pay for every single app invented, ads make the app unenjoyable and less usable.
- [R3] DailyArt It has ADDS?: This is not a game app.. but adds for games suddenly started to yell across my reading about a Canadian artist born out of the constitution act. Damn it
- [R4] DailyArt It’s not usable anymore: 90% of the time you spend using the app is spent watching ads. Don’t download.
- [R6] DailyArt It has ads: I deleted it because the ads make the experience uncomfortable.
- [R62] Sketch a Day I recommend this app!: This app is pretty good. It actually has NO ads, I’d say it doesn’t push on you to upgrade. There is a lot of positivity in the comments and it feels great! The lessons are helpful. Like learning how to properly draw hands and the way of clothing. And the daily prompts are simple, yet so big! Like we had ‘echo’ once, everyone thought many things. It’s nice to see multiple pe
- [R68] Sketch a Day Love the community ❤️: I live sketch a day so much the community is so nice and supportive! I love the suggestions each day for the prompt to give you ideas! I wish that you could see who follows you though. But that’s ok because I really just do it for the streak not the likes 🙂
- [R80] Sketch a Day Love this app: Bad thing first..it is glitchy when you try to write a comment. That’s why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars The good. I love this app. I love the positivity and this art community. It definitely sparks inspiration. I kept this review short sweet and to the point
- [R83] Sketch a Day Inspiring & Helpful: Joined to improve/sharpen my illustration hand skills. Getting a daily random subject to illustrate is a great way for me to unlock my creativity. Drawing every day is helping me to hone my skills and style. Additionally I set a 30 minute time limit for myself to push myself to work rapidly. Love seeing the creativity ways others around the world interpret the same subject ma
- [R9] DailyArt Low tech high quality product: The art is great, I appreciate the care they put into it. But the subscription is so glitchy, I am subscribed but still see ads. Incredibly frustrating.
- [R13] DailyArt very difficult to maneuver: cannot get past becoming a premium member to bring up any artwork - this app lists as free but will not allow you to see any art work - will delete
- [R21] DailyArt Not all change is good...: I so enjoyed this app until the new version was introduced. Now it is constant frustration. You begin to read and then it immediately goes to an ad. You click off the ad and begin to read again and then there’s another ad. And this is for the "paid for" version of this app. I no longer recommend this and find I turn to it less and less. To bad they changed a good thing.
- [R65] Sketch a Day love this app but one small thing..: I love the idea of a different prompt everyday. It really helps you branch out and draw things you normally wouldn’t. The only thing I dislike is the glitch i’m having with the “reward gallery”. I cant see any of the art and it’s disappointing because I have 4 unclaimed rewards at the moment. Other than that I love this app.
- [R10] DailyArt Weird Ads: Not paying for an app where I can look up every single painting I see on the app for free
- [R25] DailyArt Questionable ads: They make sure the first thing you get before signing for a membership is ads. Not sure they care what the content looks like but a smart person would recognize the danger. The ads are more like warfare. Don’t download and save yourself some time.
- [R31] DailyArt art with a side of child corn: I would have loved this app and learning all the pieces that had to offer; but I guess I just couldn’t get past the extremely questionable “advertisements” of women and little girls in compromised photo/collages at the bottom of my screen. maybe it would go away if I would’ve purchased a different plan? I don’t even know if it has no ads option - but I don’t even
- [R43] DailyArt AI sexualized ads: Unsure if it’s meant to force me to get the the upgraded version, but the ads at the bottom are AI women bodies that appear naked and one image than looks like a zoom in of a (well, this is a G-rated space, so you get it). Are they? Not sure, they could be in skin colored material and a fake out image, but I wanted to learn about art and see oil paintings not something that’s cl
- [R55] DailyArt Loved the app for years, stop using AI to write the blurbs: You disrespect the artistic traditions you claim to celebrate by utilizing immoral technology. Please rectify this.
- [R19] DailyArt I’m not paying for stuff I can google: I downloaded the app to look at abstract art and some other genres, BUT I have to pay to see abstract art or pretty much anything unique
- [R93] Sketch a Day Community: Such a cool and positive community you guys have built. Some of us need that and we are thankful. Thank you!
- [R95] Sketch a Day Love It! So fun and very friendly: I have so much fun sharing my art I’ve been looking for a place to share my work with people to get unbiased feedback and this solved that for me! It’s so easy to use and it feels very safe to use, the community is so nice and supportive! I love seeing people art and learning from the “Learn” section. It’s a great app and I definitely recommend!!!
- [R67] Sketch a Day Ads are absurd: There are so many ads the app is nearly unusable
- [R73] Sketch a Day Don’t update if you have an older version - unbearable ads: The newer version of this app forces you to watch extremely long ads over and over, even to browse the app. This app is not usable anymore. Depressing. Give us a reasonable one time fee to have it free forever.
- [R79] Sketch a Day Development issues: The new update was very lack luster and you are not able to upload the daily prompts without ads taking over and see can no longer see the recent art from others as you were previously. I sent a message to the customer support just to get an message back from Tom telling me to delete the free app if I was so unhappy. Talk about a letdown I’ve been on the app for a couple years
