radio.net vs myTuner Radio
myTuner Radio offers a more stable and less ad-intrusive experience for paying users, while radio.net struggles with persistent ad issues even for subscribers and significant technical problems.
myTuner Radio generally provides a better user experience, especially for those who opt for the paid version to remove ads, which it largely succeeds at. radio.net, despite being free, is plagued by excessive and often unskippable ads, battery drain, and connectivity issues, making it a frustrating experience for many users.
Head to head
You are looking for a completely free radio app and are willing to tolerate frequent, intrusive ads, potential battery drain, and occasional performance issues R3R4R17.
You are willing to pay for a premium experience to remove ads and want a generally reliable app with a wide selection of international stations .
Evidence note: Both apps have a significant number of recent negative reviews, primarily concerning intrusive ads in their free versions. For radio.net, the issue extends to paid subscriptions not effectively removing ads, which is a critical flaw. myTuner Radio's paid option seems to resolve the ad problem for most users, making it a better value despite its own recent UI and functionality issues.

- [R3] radio.net Good app but “Eats” battery: Good application and has a wide selection of stations. Easy to use and good quality. HOWEVER, drains phone battery fast. I use iPhone 17 Ma Pro. In five hours the app had used 39% of the battery. Looking back and similar usage each day. Approx 4 to 5% per hour used. Developers please correct!! If this is corrected would be 5/5 rating.
- [R14] radio.net Language learning tool.: I love using radio.net as a language learning tool. My favorite French station is Ici Paris - pour musique et bonne humeur. After having spent several Summers in Graz, Austria, I enjoy radio Steiermark for keeping up my under standing of the dialecte and enjoying Austrian folk music.
- [R16] radio.net Invisibility: Not all games broadcasted
- [R17] radio.net Awesome app for radio: Easy to use app has most stations has allowed me to listen to great stations from around the world.
- [R9] radio.net Apple TV app is not working anymore: Apple TV app is not working anymore. Please fix it.
- [R27] radio.net No track names on app: Can’t see track names on the app but can see them on website
- [R7] radio.net Straight trash: Constantly freezes/pauses and then gives you a pop-up letting you know your phones been infected with a virus. Shady AF business
- [R8] radio.net Latest update: Now the phone is after 2 mins of listening any station overheating.
- [R13] radio.net Garbage: The music doesn't play when you press the play button, it's completely silent, and some kind of white notification pops up periodically. In general, garbage
- [R1] radio.net Pop up ad nuisance: Allows pop up ads on iPhone that can’t be closed.
- [R4] radio.net Holy ad cancer Batman: Immediately upon first launch I was met with a full screen popup ad with non functional close button. Had to close the app completely to close the ad. Tried a few more times and it was about 50/50 ads vs functional app, then the app asked for a review. So, here I am leaving a one star review.
- [R6] radio.net Ads are actually in the way: Just installed this app and am trying to figure it out, but every tap is accompanied by yet another full screen ad. Did find one station and it’s playing well so splitting the stars at 3.
- [R19] radio.net Too many commercials: It is a paid service but we still have to endure way too many commercials. What’s the point!
- [R37] radio.net Upgrade doesn’t work: I have paid to get “commercial-free”. Still am getting commercials
- [R43] radio.net Liars: Liars! I paid for the subscription, and there were 2 minutes and 30 seconds of local commercials, and I couldn't even listen to the station properly. The station plays for 1 minute and 30 seconds, then they cut it off and play local ads. Maybe you don't play your own ads, but you certainly play local ones. You even show more ads than the apps that don't charge anything! How frustrating!
- [R46] radio.net A Terrible App!: It is a terrible app with endless commercials after I paid for “no commercials”, what a scam! A waste of money.
- [R63] myTuner Radio Good for awhile: I was enthused about this radio app for awhile. I understand that free apps often rely on advertisements and I would patiently wait through those. However recently the app has pop-up ads that block all access to the UI and cannot be closed out. So the app has to be completely restarted frequently. That's pretty unacceptable, so I will have to be looking for a new radio app.
- [R73] myTuner Radio Hi-Jacked radio. !: Ads that can’t be skipped or shut down until minutes have passed and my patience has ran thin. Seriously considering deleting THIS APP ! ! ! And Eventually I Will. The other thing about the ads, is they voice over or interrupt the music I came to listen to. Let me remind you, I’m here for radio, Not unwanted ad’s. And not harassment, this is…. hijacked harassment. Not ju
- [R31] radio.net Buggy: Pauses for no reason when I go to certain Facebook pages. CarPlay app doesn’t load after a few uses and the app has to be reinstalled. Been going on for months.
- [R47] radio.net Great app but like to see Apple Watch feature: Great app but like to see Apple Watch feature!!
- [R69] myTuner Radio Does Not Work on My Iwatch: I was delighted with this app. So much so I subscribed and I am still a subscriber. It’s one of a handful of apps that I pay for. A few months ago I noticed the app on my iwatch was not working. I informed the developers but so far they have not gotten the issue resolved. I wished it would get resolved soon. I would like to hear from others having the same problem
