Faceover vs FaceAi
Faceover is the better choice for basic face-swapping if you can navigate its recent changes, while FaceAi is plagued by high costs and functionality issues.
Faceover, despite recent negative updates and a shift to a subscription model, still offers effective face-swapping capabilities, particularly for those who enjoyed its older, simpler version. FaceAi, however, is consistently criticized for its exorbitant pricing, hidden fees, and frequent failures in generating content, making it a less reliable and more expensive option.
Head to head
You are looking for a face-swapping app that, despite recent negative updates, still has the potential for effective results and was once highly regarded for its simplicity R5. You are willing to navigate a subscription model and potential bugs, hoping for future improvements R3R6R13.
Evidence note: Faceover's lifetime rating is significantly higher, but recent reviews are overwhelmingly negative, focusing on a major shift in business model and functionality. FaceAi's reviews are consistently negative, primarily due to its pricing model and lack of functionality. The free vs. paid asymmetry is present for Faceover, where much of the recent negativity stems from former free users now facing paywalls, but even paid users report issues. FaceAi's issues are more fundamental to its core offering and pricing.

- [R5] Faceover Effective & easy to learn: I downloaded it and was able to get what I wanted done within 15 minutes. I replaced a face in an old b&w photo with one from a new color photo. The software took the color and matched it to the old b&w very well. The hi-resolution down grades to the same grainy look too. Nicely done!
- [R9] Faceover Ruined the app!: Had this app about 3 years and it’s always been great Now it’s changed and completley ruined. I like to paste my own pics in my album not random stuff available by the app. Had to delete it
- [R12] Faceover Worst app on planet earth: I miss the old simple version. Just some few things below 1.No button to access free version - forces you to do paid free trial. 2. Some photos on your cameras roll won’t show up no matter how many times you save it 3. Finally when ready to make a photo you have to watch a 1 minute unskippable stupid video 4. App crashes randomly Lastly if your SOMEHOW able gene
- [R22] Faceover Unusable: I have used this app for years. It used to be perfect- manually copy a section of a photo and paste it on top of another. It was perfect because of its simplicity. Now it’s literally unusable. Not only is the user interface overly complicated, it’s also crowded with tons of ai garbage. On top of all that, you can’t use it anymore at all- that’s right. Unless you decide to pay $28 a month
- [R11] Faceover Update is Bugged: The last update made it not work, the app kicks me out without loading anything.
- [R3] Faceover Cool ap. Buggy: Had to uninstall it several times in order to make it work from one photo prank to another
- [R6] Faceover Still locks up: This app is great except some songs always stop at 94%. If this was fixed, I would give 5 stars.
- [R18] Faceover This app is annoying and greedy: You have to pay for premium to use the app like you genuinely can’t use the features ONCE it’s horrible and the app is probably ai slop
- [R28] Faceover Disappointed: I’ve been using this app for years and I was loving it. Now they have a screen for “pay for premium” and you can’t use the app anymore without paying for premium. Just bring back the ads, they’re annoying but better than paying for a monthly subscription for an app I use maybe 4 times a year.
- [R7] Faceover Bad cancellation policy: App cancelled but still being billed
- [R13] Faceover crashed: This app has not worked in over two weeks. I have tried multiple ways to get support. I have no response from the developer. I am paying for a subscription. It is fun when working but if no value without support.
- [R15] Faceover Bump in the road: Purchased the Faceover Pro. It worked great for a few months but then would freeze in the “processing” task when switching face photos. The contact email does not work so I’m unable to contact them to fix the problem. Faceover please fix the problems.
- [R16] Faceover Won’t restore: Why won’t it restore
- [R48] Faceover $6.99 a week??????: $6.99 a week????? Thanks for selling out.
- [R64] FaceAi Crazy expensive: The app is too damn expensive. $10 for 50 coins. And it cost 32 coins to create a video. And that’s with a paid subscription.
- [R70] FaceAi Absurdly expensive: Charges for every video. Promise of 50 is bs
- [R72] FaceAi Face limiter: I bought this app yesterday and it is brilliant but there are a lot of underlying extras. If you want better quality it costs more and after you buy it they limit the amount you can do. When you first get an app there usually that excitement and I didn’t go overboard with it. So I accepted the messaged you’ve reached you’re daily limit! The next day around 10am I go to use it again a
- [R75] FaceAi Was great but now they want more money: I’ve used this app many times and I loved it and I’ve noticed how many cahnges have been added in the app which was great however u are now like the rest of the apps you can’t save the video unless your pay an extra £9 I already pay a weekly subscription but this has disappointed me
