Ski Utah Snow Report vs OpenSnow
OpenSnow is the better choice for serious skiers and snowboarders looking for detailed, accurate, and broad weather forecasting, while Ski Utah Snow Report is a solid, free option for those focused exclusively on Utah resorts.
OpenSnow offers highly detailed and accurate forecasts from meteorologists, covering a wide range of locations, though it has faced criticism for recent price increases and UI changes. Ski Utah Snow Report provides a user-friendly interface for Utah-specific snow data and alerts, but some users report issues with data accuracy and update frequency.

- [R3] Ski Utah Snow Report Good app: The app has is well organized. Some the trail cam stuff doesn’t work very well but the rest of the app provides accurate information.
- [R5] Ski Utah Snow Report Pow alerts: We didn’t have much use for the powder alerts this last season, but this app is super clutch. Have used it for years, through the good and bad. A loyal and constant companion, and a snow day hasn’t gone by without this app. Please pray for snow.
- [R10] Ski Utah Snow Report Powder alert doesn’t work: Love the interface of the app. However, the Powder Alert feature doesn’t send a push notification! I’ve made sure the setting in the app is turned on as well as my phones notification settings. Cool idea if it worked.
- [R15] Ski Utah Snow Report Park City: The webcams never seem active!
- [R1] Ski Utah Snow Report Degraded not updates: I used to love this app, easy to see all the snowfalls and resort info, the new update is wonky and hard to read, deleted it.
- [R2] Ski Utah Snow Report Great app for great resorts: All the best of Utah powder condensed into one website. Easy to navigate and provides solid information and up to date snow reports.
- [R14] Ski Utah Snow Report Super app!!!: Easy to use, easy to read - this is going to make our trip in early April so much better!!!
- [R23] Ski Utah Snow Report Great for skiing Utah: App is great to see snow reports for all Utah resorts in one place. I use the app daily to determine where I will ski. The functionality is great and it is informative and very easy to use! Highly recommend to all Utah skiers.
- [R4] Ski Utah Snow Report Delayed: Snow totals and storm totals are always delayed and never accurately reflect what there is.
- [R7] Ski Utah Snow Report Terrible app: This app is never updated. It never has the correct snow fall information. It is terrible!
- [R8] Ski Utah Snow Report Go to source: The most thorough, complete, accurate and useful app for knowing just about anything and everything to do with skiing in Utah. This is the one source you need.
- [R12] Ski Utah Snow Report Not updated: I’m looking at today with 12-18 in snow over night and the resorts are showing 0 snow. I also can’t tell if the resorts are open. Road to Little cottonwood is closed fir avalanche control but 0 snow fall. Looked at other resorts in the state & similar result
- [R62] OpenSnow My Go To Weather App: Open Snow has become outstanding. I don't even look at anything else anymore. You guys seem to have thought of everything. The information is spot on. I'm still learning all the nuances, but the more I use it the more impressed I become. Thx!
- [R70] OpenSnow Reliable: Accurate forecasts for the areas I choose
- [R72] OpenSnow Great Forecasts!: I am a pro ski patroller in Wyoming. I use Open Snow regularly. Good accurate weather forecasting. Really nice site as it is totally geared towards skiers. I don’t think you can find a better resource for powder and big dumps. Great maps and localized forecasts. Highly recommend!
- [R80] OpenSnow Spot on: The forecasts for individual places were spot on, even those in a general geographic area but tweaked for individual locations and topography. My go to every morning.
- [R61] OpenSnow Bait and switcharoo with “All Access”: I enjoyed using OpenSnow and appreciated its pricing model for the All-Access subscription. However, OpenSnow cancelled the All-Access subscription and changed subscribers to their Base subscription and introduced a higher subscription, Premium. I didn’t appreciate being baited and switched to a subscription that was no longer fitting of the original name, so
- [R66] OpenSnow expensive: This app has become too expensive for weather you can find elsewhere. They add features I don’t use and take away ones I enjoyed for an even higher price. I love that you can find multiple resorts in one place.
- [R67] OpenSnow Used to be my favorite app: We’ve had the family plan since open snow first rolled it out and it was great. Slowly migrating all of the useful features away from something we were paying $90 a year for into something they want us to pay $180 a year for feels slimy and scammy. Especially when most of the map layers are re-skinned NWS products, and someone decided a few weeks ago to give the radar l
- [R71] OpenSnow Disappointed increased cost: Great app but are now charging too much, now you have to upgrade to get the services that were always standard before… had to debate renewal
- [R26] Ski Utah Snow Report Pow tracker: Great app for tracking snowfall across the state, with personalized notifications for resorts you want to get updates on. I’ve used it to track total days on the mountain for 3 years, would recommend.
- [R33] Ski Utah Snow Report Big Fan: Big fan of this app. It helps me know if I need to drop what I’m doing and get up on the mountain. It helps being able to see the past week’s snow to know how much fresh snow is up there as well as base. It is nice to have the powder alerts, that is my most used feature. I love looking at the cameras as well, helps when you can see road and lift conditions.
- [R37] Ski Utah Snow Report POW POW: The addition of the bus routes is awesome
