CBS Sports vs Apple Sports
Apple Sports is the better choice for users who prioritize a clean, ad-free experience with real-time scores and live activities, while CBS Sports struggles with recent updates and intrusive review requests.
Apple Sports offers a simple, ad-free interface focused on live scores and team following, though some users desire more in-depth stats and broader sport coverage. CBS Sports, despite its long history, is currently hampered by a problematic new update that prioritizes video over articles and an overwhelming number of review prompts, leading to user frustration.
Head to head
You want a long-established sports app that historically provided a broad range of sports news and scores, and you are willing to tolerate recent design changes and frequent review prompts .
Evidence note: Recent negative reviews for CBS Sports heavily focus on the app's new update and intrusive review requests, which may skew its current user sentiment compared to its lifetime rating. Apple Sports, being a newer app, has fewer reviews, but a consistent theme emerges regarding its simplicity and lack of detailed stats.

- [R1] CBS Sports Bad Update: The new update makes the app look like social media, not an app that actually has articles with sports stories along with the scores
- [R6] CBS Sports Just ok: The app falls short for minor sports such as wrestling, volleyball and golf. The coverage is weak for many women’s sports, too.
- [R12] CBS Sports Update disaster: Could you at least make a setting to allow to view homepage in the old list style? Feels like a lot more scrolling to get similar content, many more videos (there’s a watch tab for that), everything is a large thumbnail that isn’t necessary and takes away from the app.
- [R16] CBS Sports New update: This was my favorite sports app, and the only one i would use, until about two weeks ago when they updated it and now it’s just all videos. They used to have headlines which you would click on and read the story and they got rid of that.
- [R13] CBS Sports Bad: Slow bad and clunky
- [R30] CBS Sports Notifications: The app is good overall but none of the notifications will come through
- [R36] CBS Sports Downfall: Was one of the best sports app now constantly wrong scores , wrong times , wrong starters , and completely fabricated events in the game it will tell you that Jalen Brunson hit a three and the score is 145 to 160 when the score is 44-45 in the second it’s really bad , chat will block you for any slang any abbreviations any talk of money line or talks of them rigging also does not go thro
- [R45] CBS Sports Timely: An easy site to catch up on sports news, especially scores
- [R3] CBS Sports Stop: Stop asking me to review your app.
- [R4] CBS Sports App is bad: Stop asking me to rate
- [R5] CBS Sports Review: Quit asking me to write a review every time I open the app
- [R7] CBS Sports Stop sending me alerts to review the app: See above
- [R2] CBS Sports Good: It’s fun to watch games on here umm yeah it’s good but developers pls respond to me I just think it’s cool lol
- [R70] Apple Sports Needs an iPad friendly version: Just like it says.
- [R88] Apple Sports Not support ipad: Not support ipad,So ****
- [R116] Apple Sports Good: Simple interface that do one thing good “display the score” which is all that matter. No iPad version though
- [R14] CBS Sports Stop: I’m writing this review so this ad stops popping up!!
- [R15] CBS Sports Pop ups: Please stop sending a pop up to rate cbs everytime I click into the app
- [R62] Apple Sports Unbelievably Good: Apple really killed this. No ads, no news pushing like ESPN or other apps like Bleacher Report, and the live events are awesome. My one gripe is that it needs more sports! I would love a college baseball section. Great design work as well: the app is very pretty to look at, while also being easy to read quickly to get a sense of what’s going on.
- [R104] Apple Sports Amazing design just not enough features: It is missing features that the ESPN app has, but it is designed so well and is free
- [R75] Apple Sports Needs some work: I think this really needs some additional info to be a one stop shop. It should be easy to see standings, player info, and schedules.
- [R84] Apple Sports Stats: I wish that there was was a spot to look at players stats but it is an awesome app
- [R87] Apple Sports Good, could be better: Good app for the basics, leaves my wanting more like clicking into a team and see team information like players, stats, previous and coming games. I think that’s an easy fix that can be implemented quickly.
- [R89] Apple Sports Great App, but Needs More Detailed Stats: Apple Sports has a very clean, modern, and easy-to-use interface, which makes following live scores a great experience. However, there are a couple of improvements that would make the app much better. It would be great if users could tap on players in soccer lineups to view detailed information such as season stats and performance. Also, adding the abili
