Ada vs healow
Ada is better for general symptom assessment and health tracking, while healow is a functional but often frustrating portal for managing existing doctor relationships.
Ada excels as a symptom checker and health tracker, offering insights and peace of mind, though it struggles with specific or rare conditions and technical glitches. healow serves as a patient portal for doctor communication and record access, but users frequently report it is difficult to use, glitchy, and lacks essential features.
Head to head
you want a general symptom checker to get an idea of what might be going on or to track symptoms over time R2R8R11. It's also suitable if you appreciate an app that asks good questions and provides meaningful statistics to help you decide when to see a doctor R11.
your doctor's office uses healow as their primary patient portal, and you need to manage appointments, access records, or request prescription refills through that specific system .
Evidence note: Ada's reviews are heavily skewed towards its symptom assessment capabilities, with less emphasis on other features. healow's reviews are almost exclusively about its performance as a patient portal, with no discussion of symptom checking. The comparison is therefore primarily on their respective core functions.

- [R1] Ada Idk: I hate writing the paragraph of symptoms. I wish there was an option to look at the list and select your symptoms still. The writing and way it presents is giving gen AI and that really sucks if that’s the case
- [R2] Ada La mejor aplicación: Excelente para tener una idea de lo que le puede estar pasando a uno
- [R4] Ada Worthless: Completely worthless!! On the intake portion I put in my condition with symptoms and it could find what my diagnosis is. It gave me 3 random guess. This thing SUCKS!!! Waist of time!!!
- [R5] Ada Great tool to have on hand: This is a great app. Love it and refer to it often.
- [R3] Ada I like the app but...: The app is really good! I have used it before for many illnesses i have had. But for some reason I try to use it again and it tells me to allow tracking which is fine but it won't let me enable it? Let alone does it have the option to allow me to manually enable it in the settings. I cannot use the app without the tracking.
- [R8] Ada Great app: Has always genuinely helped me identify what’s going on with me so that I can share with my doctor. It’s a wonderful way to keep track of what’s going on and have reference for past occurrences. I definitely praise the creator(s). Used it for years and will undoubtedly continue to.
- [R6] Ada Ok: This app is fine for basic things, but not for those who have chronic illnesses. I would really like to put in my previous diagnoses and have that reflected in the questions, especially because my illnesses sometimes feel like I'm getting a cold. Also, questions like "one day to one week" should be narrowed down more. Another request I have is the option to turn off all pregnancy related quest
- [R7] Ada Limited: Very limited input. Not specific enough. Symptoms should be prompted not text based. Same with meds.
- [R13] Ada Transgender woman speaking!!!: I am a transgender woman and I have been on hormones for about two years now. I trust this app with my symptoms and I feel like the feedback does give a good general picture about what symptoms can look like. One glaring issue, especially for me, is that there is no option to add gender identity or even have it register that I take hormones and even testosterone bloc
- [R10] Ada Keyboard doesn’t work on the app: I can’t type in anything.
- [R11] Ada Game changer for worrier: I love this app for its ability to help me know how much to worry about symptoms and those around me. The statistics are really meaningful as it says how likely things are instead of a online search saying something without context. I know it’s not perfect but it has helped significantly in my understanding of my symptoms and health.
- [R22] Ada This is ridiculous: So before you even buy this you need to know you will basically have to bleed out and poke your fingers 100 times to get enough blood for a sample. Just go to a real clinic and pay for the testing and let a real person take your blood this isn't worth the hassle. They have no customer service for you to reach out to either so if you can't get the blood samples you are just out
- [R69] healow No feedback option: I’m not sure if this review applies to the app or the web portal I use on my PC. There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to provide feedback to the developers or ask questions. Additionally, it stored my payment information against my wishes and does not provide a way to remove the card. Electronic healthcare systems are the most vulnerable to data breaches so I don’t want my CC i
- [R78] healow Appointments: 15 minutes for someone to answer the phone
- [R79] healow Useless: This app is useless. The office never answers or called you back either. Don’t bother
- [R17] Ada Helpful!: Always VERY accurate for what I’ve put in, even a deviated septum which I ended up having
- [R20] Ada Seems accurate: Most of the time it’s accurate.
- [R84] healow Healow app: Sending messsged to My provider doesn’t work !!
- [R85] healow Nonfunctional app: I’ve used several other medical apps but this one simply doesn’t work. Communication is one way. Can’t respond to messages. Information is impossible to find. Better off just calling the doctors office for why your needs are. I’ve given up and will be deleting the app entirely. The web based portal is even worse. Not sure why anyone would use this in their practice.
- [R91] healow Communication: You can never get ahold of a person , trying to get prescriptions refilled is a chore the website doesn’t send them forward so you call and nothing
